We were 7 people coming to hike Lion's Head Peninsula and the guest house was perfect for us. Four bedrooms with four bathrooms and if required an overflow room for two by the laundry area. It was very clean and modernized. Doug, Marlene and Kelly were great- personable and helpful. Their granddaughter was visiting and she was adorable drawing pictures for us. The gardens are lovely with the water fountain and it was great having our own dining/living room area to eat and play cards. Too bad the Raptors didn't win their final game! There is also a lovely gazebo to sit outside. Main street of town is 5 mins away and so is the beach where you can see many stars on a clear night. There are a dark skies area.
There is a Foodland close by and 3 restaurants.
You can walk to the start of the Lion Head hike on Moore St. - (21 km around the pennisula starting at McCurdy and back to starting point via Ilse Hanel Side Trail) . Look out trail out and back is two hours. We went all the way around the peninsula so it took us about 8 hours stopping for pictures and a pack lunch. It is a moderate hike...lots of tree roots and rocks so hiking shoes should be worn. It can also get windy. The Ilse Hanel Side Trail is an old logging road so it was so nice on the feet at the end. Good signage on the trail to show you where you are. We were there for two nights so on the way back towards Collingwood, Doug suggested we do the Cape Dundas hike...Pease side trail...it was beautiful and a nice contrast to the Lion Head's hike as it had fewer rocks/tree roots but there is up and down. Overall we had lovely visit and would highly recommend staying here. Thank you for the great memories!

We were very pleased with our stay in the guest house. It was clean and very comfortable. Doug was very pleasant and extremely helpful recommending places to hike on the Bruce Trail. If we hike the trail again we will definitely book here again.

Stayed 2 nights excellent accommodation in the guest house, spotlessly clean. Unique accommodation with kitchen and dining area made a real change from motels. Owner was very friendly and great to chat too. Couple of eating places in town along with a supermarket for supplies. Recommend Rachel's for the Thursdays night music.

Let me start on a positive note. The property looks beautiful and its location close to the lake is perfect, the room (central Africa) was spacious, with a large and good bed and adequate bathroom. It was clean and tidy. The odd experience involves the host and breakfast. We were early for check in, so decided to have a walk to explore the area. When we came back there was no one there to welcome us, so I called Doug. He gave me a code to enter the room and said he would be there within the hour. We did not see him. All we saw was a note slipped under the door, asking what we wanted for breakfast. We were surprised to say the least. I wrote a message for Doug on the back expressing my dissapointment about the absence of a personal welcome, as that is for me and my husband the added value of booking an B&B as opposed to a hotel. I invited Doug to talk about this further. No reply. Breakfast was 'handed' to us as 8am sharp (we were not asked what time we wanted our breakfast served, this was it). We had to eat it in our room or on the patio. The back door was unlocked and we were given a a tray with our breakfast. You could hear the trolley in the hall way and the lock being opened, it was a surreal experience, almost like being in prison. We did not have any personal contact with Doug, until we were ready to leave and bringing our bags to the car. The reason was that my creditcard payment did not go through. Upon checking the number it did go through. Again, not a word about my earlier remark. Very odd. All this, tells me that Doug is in it for the money and not for the love of hospitality. We will not come back here, nor do we recommend this place. Unless you do not care about the personal contact, then you will be fine here.

We just returned from another beautiful stay at the Lionheart Guesthouse. We selected the East Asia room again and weren’t disappointed. The bed is super comfy and the room is well appointed.

The hosts were very kind and friendly. We can’t wait for our next stay here in Lions Head.

We had called around to pretty much every accomodation in Lion's Head and this was the only one that had vacancy for the weekend. It looked good so we were looking forward to staying. From the time we got there our host Marlene was telling us about the bad past guests she had and warning us not to act as they did. She seemed to be around everytime we came and left to inspect the kitchen and house (one would hope she was not in our room too!). She even turned the oven down when we were cooking and did not tell us. Her husband Doug on the other hand was very helpful and polite. The accommodation was very clean and we enjoyed the company of the other couple that was staying in one of the other rooms in the house. There was a lovely garden and pond outside. Was overpriced for what it was. I have stayed at other places of the same character that offered breakfast. They should take a cue from experienced b&b owners and either lower their rate or offer even muffins and juice at breakfast. Then they will likely find their rooms booked all the time. And if Marlene is worried about the house so much then she should live in it and reclaim the kitchen for preparing breakfast. That way everyone would be happy. I love Lion's Head and will be back but will not be staying at the Lionheart Guest House again.

My husband and I always stay at hotels/motels when we travel. This was our first B&B experience. We were quite pleased with the privacy offered at Lionheart. Our room was beautiful! We had our own private entrance, the bed was very comfortable and we loved the bathroom! Our breakfast was warm, waiting and delicious upon wake up! Lions Head is a beautiful town with great hiking trails. We enjoyed our visit tremendously and cannot wait until we visit again. When we do, we will certainly stay at Lionheart.

Lionheart guest house is a spacious and clean property in the heart of Lion's Head. The decor is truely unique and unlike anything you'll see anywhere else. A lot of effort went into decorating and restoring this home. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is there. The beach and hiking are very close - close enough that the kids didn't even complain about the walk to the lighthouse and to see the boats in the harbour. It was a great value for what we paid and we'd definately stay again.

Had a great experience at the Lionheart with Marlene and Doug. Beautiful, spacious rooms with TV and bathroom. Stayed in the West room that had a king size bed. Great location to walk to the beach or to the village for dinner. Landscaping and stone work made for a relaxing environment.
