Researching our trip to South Africa, I found Schotia reviewed on tripadvisor and, having now spent 2.5 days there, am so glad we took reviewers' advice and went there. The accommodation and food were superb and the proximity to animals fantastic. The friendly, small team were very organised and welcoming and made it all so enjoyable and unforgettable. We took...

This was our first safari/game reserve experience and our best of the 3 we went to. This was because of the excellent (1) ranger in Neikie - absolutely THE best of our 3 experiences overall for rangers, (2) the food - again the best; especially the bacon at breakfast - without doubt the BEST bacon we'd ever had anywhere in...

We did the 2 day package and I highly recommend it. Personally I dont think you get to experience it all in just a few hours. Our guide was very good and knowledgeable. We had great lion sightings. The foods was excellent and we were extremely suprised by the huts, they were amazing. If I go back to South Africa,...

I spent a lot of time searching for the perfect safari for us to begin our honeymoon and looked at a lot of the big safaris in the area such as Shamwari, Amkhala, Buffalo Hills, etc and decided we wanted to stay in somewhere with a chance of seeing the Big 5 and also having an authentic experience. I thought...

This was our third visit to Schotia which speaks for itself. Our ranger Ettienne was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It was wonderful to see the new rhinos. Well worth staying overnight to experience the early morning drive especially if the weather is very hot and dry as more animals are seen in the cool of the morning. Good value for...

Based on the excellent reviews on tripadvisor.com we booked a two night stay just before Christmas in 2008. Schotia is one of few game reserves that allow small children (ours are 3 and 7) on a game drive. All of us loved Schotia and we want to come back this year! It was amazing to see so many different types...

We visited Schotia on a half day door and we can't recommend enough. Having never been on a safari before we expected a dusty, uncomfortable day with animals just flashes in the distance. What we got very was very different, we got extremely near, in fact about a metre and a half from the male Lion and close to Rhinos,...

Scotia is a compact (1500 hectares) game reserve well stocked with animals including Lions, Rhinos, Hippos and a wealth of Antilope, Zebra, Jackals etc. The game drives are well run and our ranger (Edward) really new his stuff and had loads of anecdotes and amusing stories to share. We had some great animal experiences during the day, night and early...

This was a really amazing experience to see so many animals at such a close distance. The highlight was on the twighlight drive when we came across the family of Lions - Father, 2 daughters and 1 son. They were literaly a couple of metres from the Landrover. The following morning we again came across many wild animals and thought...
