How TripAdvisor can even offer this disgraceful place as 4+star property is beyond me. This the worst hotel I have ever stayed in , never mind the stars. Not one thing was done well. Cold breakfast both days. Bar service deploreable. Room had no water on second day. No help offered. No shave , no toilet , no shower , no nothing .AND certainly no fault of the Hotel staff and no reduction in charge. The whole place is a disgrace and should not be recommended by TripAdvisor. What on earth are you doing ?
My husband and I came here for a wedding. We spent 3 nights here this September. Our room is somewhat spacious, and the bed is comfortable. The front desk and manager are nice, polite and knowledgeable. The servers who work in the restaurant still need some training. It's a spacious place with not much decoration, inside nor outside. It's a decent place to come if you need to attend some event nearby, but it's not a romantic place for couples who come to enjoy the beautiful Bordeaux.
We were part of a group that ran the marathon and stayed at this hotel, with a bus provided to and from the race. Other than that feature, and the fact that our room was clean and quiet, there is not much to recommend about this hotel. It is in an odd location with a rambling set of long hallways (and oddly located stairwells) leading to different wings of the hotel. We laughed and said that the journey to our room felt nearly as long as the marathon!
An inspiring drive through Margaux to this hotel belies the drab and uninspiring vista that welcomes you to this grim golf hotel set in the swamplands. After negotiating a pointless and subframe shattering roadhump at the entrance you are greeted by a lovely man who carries your bags and parks your car. Shown to a not inexpensive room facing the grassy courtyard (just a grassy patch actually) of the “maze prison” layout hotel you notice the sad state of the place, stained exterior and worn interior. We went to the pool, an above ground unheated small affair, oddly fenced in, and so far from the hotel it beggars belief, without any kind of drinks service, broken call button notwithstanding. Drinks on the patio are very expensive, even if you have to get them yourself at the bar due to understaffing. My partner was bitten by mosquitoes so extensively that we ordered breakfast in the room.... asked if we wanted coffee, eggs and bacon, i said yes and duly delivered in 15 mins. Cold and unpleasant school slop on delivery with tiny coffees, i, in passing, said so at checkout. The price of €30 odd was offered to be removed, but the “other” €36 for serving breakfast left on the bill. Seemingly the eggs were extra. This base cost not being removed removed caused a disagreement as to why this would be the case with the staff member and the manger then stepped in, discussing in French before me the issue and then, in front of waiting clients accused me of being rude. An unpleasant end to an unpleasant stay.…
Spider webs all over the place, slow service, with the worst road access imaginable from Bordeaux! The place needs a complete overhaul as it has potential- but sorry to say it, grubby and shabby - close to the wine country though!
