My 2 kids, wife and I have spent 3 nights at this hotel, which is one of the most unconventional places I have been staying at in my life!
It's not exactly what I'd define a luxury spot and it doesn't claim to be it.
It is located in a not-so-nice area in the immediate outskirts of the nice little town of Kenzingen and although it is definitely at a walking distance it's not that practical to move around without a car.
I said unconventional because before being a hotel it is a Sports center, where you have a huge gym, tennis fields, indoor pool and so much more!
The breakfast is really ok, especially considering that it was included in the price (we paid 510 Euros for 3 nights).
We ate there for dinner the first night as we arrived late'ish: ok to fill the stomach, but honestly not more.
I believe the rooms are all the same size and they host comfortably 4 beds and a large bathroom, without the room itself being huge: it was clean (as far as I could tell) and it must have been recently renovated as it was pretty modern.
Parking space is huge and included.
What else?
I believe that it's all about expectations.
If you're looking for a quaint spot to enjoy the Black Forest... this is NOT for you.
If you're looking for a comfortable, fully equipped, clean and practical spot to use as base for your days-long excursion in the area, this is just perfect.
ESPECIALLY if you have family.
There is ONE thing I didn'l like (but I guess you can't have it all he he): the pool is not warmed up. If you think this is a minor nuance, try get yourself in the water...
With the spa just next to it, I was kinda hoping the pool would be great for some relax. It is though great for kids, once you're past the temperature :)
Being close to the railway it can be quite noisy in the room if you leave the window open... and I noticed that there isn't A/C in the rooms, so keeping the window open is the only option now that temperatures start rising.

Hotel is close to Europa Park. Quality and price makes this hotel as very good “base” for the visit of the park. Hotel is clean, has seimming pool and other sporting activities. Breakfasts are really great! Rooms are clean, but equipped in medium standard (aircon missing, which is in these hot days deficit). But overall - great selection for visit of Europa Park.

Used the hotel as starting point for Europa park visit (all hotels there were full). Not a bad idea. Basic hotel, spacious building with lots of activities (sports, pool, mini football) for kids/teenagers and good food in the restaurant (both dinner and breakfast).

A truly awful experience, we stayed after a long day at Europark, we booked 2 rooms for family of 5. Having requested them close to each other we found they were on opposite sides of the hotel.
Worse than that the bar & restaurant were closed when we arrived at 7.45pm. We went out and returned at 9.15pm to find the front door locked & no Porter. We looked on the website to find night access doors to the rooms and there were 3.

We entered after a long external circumference walk in the dark the section where our triple room was.
We then found you couldn't access the our other room from I side the hotel.
We had to again go outside and search for another access door to those rooms walking around the outside of the hotel again in the dark. Truly bizarre & just dangerous.

Rooms
Curtain rail needed three curtains only had two.

From the moment we came to the hotel, till the moment at my home when I found out I forgot my ID card in the hotel and they sent it to me, stuff were great. Very kind, polite and helpful. For a good price we had nice room, breakfast, swimming pool and spa. Good relax after funny trip in Europa park.

Family run hotel, close to Europa Park and to some nice sightseeing in the area (like Ettenheim); very eighties in decor, but super clean, comfortable and full of caring details. The staff are very nice, and very helpful. Great sports possibilities for a rainy day: tennis, swimming pool, bowling, gym, billiards... the kids love it. Very good breakfast buffet, and a nice and very affordable dinner menu too.

The sports hotel is literally that,a hotel attached to a big sports center.on site are 5 tennis courts 3 badminton courts squash courts ,15 meter pool and sauna area.
The hotel will suit persons travelling by rental car not easy to locate on foot or by public transport.Decor is basic but don't let this fool you ,the hotel is kept spotless, rooms are cleaned daily ,new towels and bed lillen.
Staying in the hotel gives you free access to the gym which is state of the art and the pool and sauna area, just be warned for the littlens or faint of hearth, its Germany so when they sauna they like to do it showing all what god has gave them man or woman,
The staff were extremly friendly and helpful.
We had breakfast included in our stay and I would advise you to add same to your stay. All foods and juices are fresh a good choice of cereals, fruits ,danishes, eggs and bacon etc. You had your table reserved with your family name on it which made it very personable.
The hotel us situated 10 min drive to the Europa Park and 5 min off the main Auroban.
For some reason I feel the hotel undersells its self it has a 3 star feel but easily knocking on the door of a 4 star hotel. This is due to its staff which were excellent.
Rooms are set up to accomidate 4 single beds ,they dont have air con so can get stuffy, windows open both ways be sure you open wide in the night time heat to stay cool.
Well done to the staff for making this a very pleasant stay

Great breakfast, friendly staff, looked spotless...was however eaten alive by bedbugs at night... would not return. Hotel informed of the situation. Considering the amount of bites and some insects found, this did not happen overnight and should have been spotted by the cleaning staff.

On our way back from Tuscany to the Netherlands we stayed at a sunday evening at this hotel. This wasn't the best experience..... There is no reception on sundays so we had to search for the parking at first and after that we had to get the key out of a special save. All well arranged but not what we expected after a full day in the car. It was bloody hot in the room and we couldn't do anything about that. There was no bar or a place where we could get a drink when we arrived. Breakfast wasn't what we expected so after all...... We should have searched a little bit more to find a place that fits more to our expectations after a long drive..... There we a lot of sport facilities an environment looks great so in different circomstances I can imaging that you can have a good time at this hotel.

I stay in this hotel every 4-6 weeks as I go to this area for business trips. This hotel is very relaxing, nice and clean rooms, helpful and friendly staff, swimming pool, gym and sauna usually help when I feel bored in the evenings. Restaurant: when it's warm you can sit outside and when it's cold you can stay inside, very nice food and desserts. Especially vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries. Prepare yourself for a big portion, it's not anywhere close to the size of the ice cream in the UK. Only 15 minutes away by car is the famous Europa Park.
