Fantastic little hotel and seafood restaurant overlooking the Ostsee in Sassnitz. I visited with some friends in October 2019, as we were visiting the submarine HMS Otus which is moored as a museum in the harbour there (two of my travelling companions had served on the submarine). The atmosphere of the bar, hotel and restaurant is cosy, clean and welcoming; the staff were very polite and friendly, and did everything that they could to make our stay enjoyable. Our rooms were clean, tidy and very well appointed - the only little fault I could make is that I felt that the pillows on the bed were too soft for my taste, but that is a personal matter and not an issue for the hoteliers. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant - the food was superb, huge portions, not overpriced and very filling for four ex-marines and submariners after a long drive from Berlin. Breakfast the following morning was just as good - plentiful and a huge choice from fruit juice and cereal, through pickled herrings, scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, cold meats and cheeses, and a bewildering array of breads. Highly recommended for a stay if you are in the area. Thanks again to the owners and staff for the welcome.…
From the very beginning - with entering - they give you the Feeling that you are warmly welcome although it can be busy. You are seated on good tables, it is not too loudy although many other guests. The Service is highly recommandable. But also the menu is well done - you get a good overview, especially among fishes and fresh salads. The Prices are in good relation to the Quality without being expensive. Next time, I'll be there again.
We had a bit of an awkward entrance here, running into a downright unfriendly staff member at the reception desk. Admitted he changed his way after we bounced back at him and he remained - suddenly - remarkably friendly during the rest of our stay. Nothing wrong with the hotel room, nothing remarkable either, just good. The low humming air conditioning is very noticeable throughout the building though - and even far outside - and is only stopped at 23:00, a bit annoying. Nice, experienced female staff at the restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast. By all means walk outside to the left and follow the beach path through the woods for some amazing sights!
Top location, friendly staff, nice room and affordable price. The only downside - no english speaking reception. My best tip for a stay in this place is - try the dorsch filet in the Kuterfish restaurant.
We were two couples staying 4 nights at this hotel, nicely located by the harbour. Unfortunately we all had very poor experience with the internet. Even if we were on vacation we needed to check some work emails and would prefer to relax with some online videos instead of the German TV available. The internet however were extremely poor. Most of the evening it was more or less impossible to even connect to the WiFi, probably due to the many guests in the restaurant downstairs. Later in the evenings connection to the WiFi was possible but we were frequently disconnected. If you managed to get connected you could maybe read some web page, but more than a few were not possible and video were no chance at all. Normally this would not present a large problem, especially since there is free data roaming within the EU now. But this part of the island is very rocky and the hotel is located at water level far below the city. This resulted in that mobile data most of the time was unavailable, which makes you rely even more on the hotel WiFi, which were not working either. Anyway the hotel was nice and the breakfast was just great, especially considering a small hotel like this. The rooms were nice with seating possibilities, tables and a very fresh and modern bathroom. The hotel offered free parking in the nearby parking garage, at about 2-3 minutes walking distance. The pillows look large and nice, but unfortunately they do not have any substance and it almost as sleeping without pillow. Now I don't sleep so high but it is recommended to request extra pillows. The experience would have been a bit nicer if the staff would have been more attentive. Most staff never smiled or even said "Hi" or "good morning". In large the hotel is nice, besides the internet. But there are also so many other nice hotels available on the island in the same price range.…
