Ok before I start we did have a good holiday, the majority of the issues we experienced were avoidable if the Thompson rep did his job properly. The staff at this hotel are excellent and the rooms are adequate and most importantly CLEAN. On arrival...More
If your after lively loads to do you will be disappointed. If you're here for chillaxing perfect!
Great location right next to beach if you want the beach. Sunbeds down there cheap 20 euros for luxury beds for three plus brolly. Cheap seats are...More
Again to echo what others have said this hotel was disappointing given the price and the rating by Thomson. Our room was probably the most disappointing of all. We tried to have a romantic getaway but the room was drab and smelt very musty. One...More
Really disappointed with this hotel, not what we was expecting at all. The family room was tiny with bunk beds with a ladder that was not attached, not safe at all. Hard beds, 1 lumpy pillow each. The main bar was closed during our stay...More
Just returned after 7 days stay with two kids (10,16). The room on the 2nd floor was spacious enough for the three of us and from the balcony we could see the pool, mountains, sea and beautiful sunrises. Cephalonia Palace Hotel is a real rest...More

Hi Dawn, it depends really what you are looking for. If you head down towards the beach, there are a couple of basic tavernas (casual/beach dress wear). You can walk along the left hand side of the beach and you will eventually come across a handful of pretty looking tavernas. I would advise exploring in daylight first, perhaps a pre-breakfast walk before the sun gets too hot. The roads are more like tracks and the locals don't slow down, so best not to go too far in the dark unless you know where you are going! I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Hello, glad you are going to this hotel - my friend and I really liked it . We had a second floor room and , as has already been said , it had all you need, though we had to ask for our tea making kit because the room service providers hadn't quite reached us !
We can both drive but opted not to hire a car as we wanted to relax -we found that the buses were very reliable and frequent -so it wasn't a problem . Also, the ferry ran to a good timetable and the ride on that beautiful azure sea was amazing.
We decided to go on the evening wine tasting trip and discovered lots of places we wouldn't have known about as it began with a tour of part of the island - the food and drink were good too !
The hotel was very clean and the food entirely acceptable - we always found something good .
Enjoy yourselves !
