The hotel was exceptional. At every point we were made to feel part of the hotel family. The staff were amazing and really went out of their way to make sure you had a lovely experience.
We went during the peak school holiday time in February so half of Europe was on the ski slopes so it was nice to be able to escape and return to the hotel in the afternoons to have a relaxing swim and sauna before dinner in the evenings.
The dinners were lovely and varied. 4 Courses is the usual for Italian dining so it did take a little time to make space in our stomachs for all the food! Beautiful as it was. The wine selection was detailed and paired to the meals and with the vast knowledge shared by the son of the hotel owner.
The grounds were well kept and easilly accessible as well as the town being on the same road if you wanted a little walk.
Access to the slopes is made very easy as they have a minibus that will drop you right at the lifts during the mornings and after 3pm. It only takes 2 minutes so really took the sting out of having all your gear on and ready to get skiing.
Ok - the Spa - was a godsend! relaxing interiors and plenty of sunbeds and beanbags to chill out on before enjoing a swim or a warm pool (temperature of a lovely bath!) that led outside so you could enjoy the scenery without the cold snap!
The rooms were fit for purpose with lovely big balconies to sit out on and large bathrooms - to be honest it was lovely and warm inside the whole hotel so no need for massive jumpers.
Theres not too many British people there maybe because its a bit of a journey to get to the hotel from the Verona Aiport if you don't have a car but a Shutle Bus can be prebooked for them to deliver you straight to the hotel so its worth a bit of a trek.
The owner was very kind at the end of our stay to come over and make sure we had a lovely stay and the hotel have a lovely touch by giving you a pot of homemade jam.
I think we would love to come back even in the Summer Season as there are plenty of hikes/walks in that area.
This hotel deserves 5 stars.

I don't usually write reviews but I feel I should in this case. This hotel is a wonderful place that guarantees not only luxurious conditions but also a family atmosphere. I've been here 7 times, so this is not an opinion influenced by momentary euphoria. The chef cooks so wonderfully that every dinner is an adventure and an amazing culinary experience. After dinner I always went to the bar where the bartender is not only very friendly but also makes the best Negroni in the world. If I had to sum up my stay in one word, I would write - Favoloso!

I have mixed feelings about this hotel.
We had 2 apartments, one was Aberta and one Brenta, or something like these were the names. The Brenta one was nice, cozy and it looked new. The other one was bigger, but felt a little outdates. Even though we paid similar amount for both of them.
The breakfast was very good. A lot of options, from eggs to hams to cheeses to juices to coffee to pancakes and waffles. And the breakfast area very nice as well.
The apres ski snack... not the same story. The pizzas were from boxes, only heated in the oven. The soups... terrible. The cakes were good, the same as the desserts from the night before.
Dinner. I had high expectations because of all the amazing reviews saying how good the food is. The food is OK, but it's not for every taste. The gala dinner was the worst night and it doesn't go well to have that kind of food after a day spent on slopes. The other night, the food was ok. The salad buffet is very small and not a great variety. The ice cream is very good. All the desserts were delicious.
The spa is nice, the reading area there is very welcoming. The pools were colder in some dats, warmer in others.
In some rooms, the temperature was ok, in others a bit chilly.
It's a very beautiful hotel, very stylish and modern, but still maintaining the Dolomiti style.

Dear All,

Very rarely I am writing a review about hotel although I spend most of my life in the hotels. In fact I have been in the hospitality- travel and hotel business for more than 20 years.

Let me share some of my remarks about my stay in Salvadori Hotel in Mezzana. We have stayed there the appartament for the family of 5 for entire week.

1. Two connected rooms but very TINY onces. Definitely not enough space for a family of 5.
2. Only one TINY bathroom&toilet - all in one- for 5 people- around 5 sq.meters
3. Only floor heating working. We asked reception at least 8 times to swich the floor heating off (children have alergy problems for dust) and turn on the regular heating. They promised to do so and….never did. Very annoying while you are on the skking holiday and you have no chance to dry your gloves or kids socks….
4. No place to dry the cloths after skiing (neither in the room nor in the bathroom). In fact there was NO HANGER in the bathroom even for the bathrobe or towel
5. FOUR TIMES I went skiing Wita wet skiing boots as the heating system in the ski room was not turned properly on time (they usually put it on at 7 am so people going to ski at 9.00 am had to take the wet boots with them
6. TWO TIMES we gave our cloths to dry to the reception - we them back from the reception the next morning wet!- including underwear gloves and socks for kids!- Good news while you are on the skiing holiday- right?
7. THREE DAYS we waited for an adaptor as regular European plug did not fit. Hotel was not able to deliver the right plug for 3 nights
8. We were told NOT TO COME TO THE POOL WITH KIDS AFTER 17.00! Well, you don't expect that while having family ski holiday in the 4 star resort, don't you?Especially when you know that the pool is opened only till 19.00
9. TEENAGERS not allowed to the SPA area - no comment
10. AROGANT AND RUDE chef of waiters at the restaurant. Several times I was even shocked by his bahaviour.
11. Tea time from 15-17.00 - usually tea time has been finished by 16.50-16.55
12. Poor quality of cleaning service in the room. - We found sausages (not ours) after 4 days of our stay below the bed. Towels were not changed regularly, wet bathrobes were left twice in the room
13. Room amenities were not replaced at all for the entire week!
14. Silent room system- big dissapointment. We could properly listen to the conversation in the room next to ours. Unacceptable for a 4 star property.
15. Poor quality of the wifi system - especially in the room. Besides that hotel required to give you all details of your facebook account or gmail acount. Otherqise internet in the hotel was not available.
16. Area for kids with no atractions at all. Even table football did not have a ball in the kids room….so many times we asked for and no reply.
17. Entertainer for kids with no language skills. Only Italian (while 70% of the guests were foreigners)
18. Menu only in Italian and German. We did not have problem with this as we are fluent in many languages but considering the fact that there were some Scandinavian people and lots of Polish people with us it woudl be nice from the hotels' side to prepare menu in English or Polish.

All we know that the room and the qulity of the room is not the most important part of your holiday experience. It is all about people. Their attitude, humour, flexibility, ability to act. Their profesinalism.

Unfortunately people from Salvadori Hotel seem not to remember about any of these.

After the hotel with such long history (over 100 hundred years of existance) I expected more. Much more.

Well, one compliment for the hotel. GianLuigi - our waiter. Grazie mill!. You made our stay in Salvadori Hotel a bit nicer. In fact you were the only person that kept us with Salvadori Hotel for the entire week.

To sum up. Salvadori Hotel has a long history. maybe some years ago it was a 4 star property. It is not for sure anymore. There are so many hotels in the region. I am sure that most of them nicer with nicer people. Avoid Salvadori property if you can.

Best regards

NIck

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Salvadori which is ideal for skiing the Marilleva, Folgarida and Madonna di Campiglio area. We had a superior room which was a good size and very nicely furnished. It was located on the floor above the swimming pool so a little noisy between 4.00pm and 6.00pm but at night the sleep quality was very good. Beautiful restaurant with really nice food, a big effort was made to provide variety and there was even a gala night which was similar to a cenone at capodanno. All the staff were really pleasant and helpful, especially our waiter Emilio who was fantastic entertainment and looked after my husband and his dairy allergy really well. The icing on the cake was the shuttle bus service to the lift station at Marilleva 900 only 5 minutes away. There were 2 buses running all the time so we never had to wait. An afternoon snack was laid on in the bar consisting of soup or cakes to accompany your drink. The holiday overall was a little on the pricey side but for this area very good value. The only drawback was being outside a ski resort and therefore a little lacking in atmosphere but Mezzana is quite a nice little town and has plenty of amenities.

The rooms
The rooms, frankly look brand new. Literally no visible wear and tear. We have later discovered that the owners close the hotel for 2 months before each season to fix and renovate anything that needs to be repaired. The entire hotel looks really new and fresh. We have stayed at the junior suite facing the hill. When you reserve the room make sure you know what you are getting as there are only 39 rooms in the hotel, but 9 different kinds of them. Anyway, our room had about 30 m2, and had enough space to not only sleep but actually function there as well. The king-size bed was put together from two beds, but the mattresses were firm enough that it did not bother us. The closet was big enough for two adults with winter clothing and ski gear. The bathroom was unusually big for a hotel with both the shower and bathtub. The room cleaning is done every day. The robes and flip-flops are provided.
The hotel
The hotel itself looks a bit like a chalet and has this quaint feeling about it. On the ground floor, there is a well-stocked bar with an ample area to lounge around. On the other side of the lobby, there is a pool and a fireplace room. You can also store your skis and boots (on heated racks) in a spacious storage room. Right next to it, there is a small playroom for kids, and further on the dinner restaurant. On the first floor, there is a well-equipped spa with saunas of pretty much every kind, and inside and outside pools. There are elevators in each part of the hotel with rooms. So, one does not have to lag the suitcases up the stairs. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the main ski gondola at Merileva 900. There is a minibus provided from the hotel to there in the morning and in the afternoon.
The food
Let me start with some technical conveniences. On the first floor, there is a separate dining room just for breakfast, which is an excellent idea on many different levels. The breakfast is proper with a large selection of everything one would think of eating in the morning. You can also have crepes and omelets to be made on the spot. There are snacks provided from 3 to 5 pm. The dinner starts at 7:30 pm. The dinner dining room is on the ground floor with more of an evening décor and atmosphere. The food served for the dinner is out of this world. I have traveled a lot around Italy, mostly in 4 and 5-star hotels, and this has been one of the best experiences ever. The chef in charge should get a medal! Just please don’t give him a Michelin star, or the food won’t be as pleasant to eat as it is right now.
Entertainment
The hotel offers a number of apres-ski/after-dinner events. While we were there, there was an introductory cocktail evening, grappa tasting, a live man-orchestra (that later in the evening came out as an excellent opera soprano) and a special evening candle-light dinner.
The town
There are really to Mazzanos. One goes along the main road going through the town, where most of the hotels and guesthouses happen to be. Walk a bit up the hill from the hotel. On the left you will find a truly old-school Bar de Renato, which looks like it has not changed since the 1960s, and serves the best coffee in town, not to mention pastries. There is a bakery and a small DeSpar store on the right-hand side of the road as you walk up stocked with all the basic necessities. If you walk up a little further, a bit beyond the Ravelli hotel, and then if you turn into the first street on your left (Via Quirino Bezzi), you will find Caseificio Sociale Presanella, the local communal cheesemaker, which sells probably the best fresh ricotta cheese on the planet. I also recommend trying their formaggio d’imperatore, and a selection of apple juice squeezed from the local apples.
Then, the other Mezzano is up the hill, but going to the right away from the main road. There you can get lost in the narrow medieval streets, and houses build a bit later, with frescos dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Well, while it is no Tuscany, but still very charming.

We stayed at Salvadori for a week, we were two couples. The hotel has good amenities, it is clean, really good breakfast and quite good dinner! The only drawbacks the hotel has is that you cannot fix the temperature inside the room, because they control it, so some nights or mornings it was quite chilly.. And the rooms are not at all soundproof!

positives:
clean, new, very well equipped appartment and kitchen(although no hot pot!), with nice views of the mountains;
excellent and accomodating staff (granted all request they could, even when the restaurant was closed they offered to cook early dinner just for us)
negatives:
the town has extremly few restaurants and cafes and pretty much no life in the evening. if you want to spend time in a nice setting in the evening:Madonna di Campiglio (drivable distance in 20-30 mins) is your bet.
Italian ski schools for kids is pretty much a disaster: big groups and rather "flexible" approach to schedule. Tons of people, but it was peek season, so it should be expected. Travelled Dec/Jan
