Positives- stunning views, peace and quiet, pool often to yourself, friendly host, clean, spacious accommodation nicely furnished with rose petals and local liquor which were a nice touch and especially Nala the friendly dog and the playful kitten. Downsides- Quite isolated. The nearest town of Rute (which is not walkable) is not an appealing place to visit. The nearest town which has nice restaurants is approx half hour drive away on bendy roads. Rute appears to have shut down with things reviewed on TA no longer available. The town is obviously beyond Carmen's control. Suggestions to improve the stay would be a welcome package of basic items such as water, salt, pepper, oil for cooking and cleaning materials. Change of towels after a few days, option to buy drinks and bread. …

We found everything exactly as described on the website and had a wonderful time. Carmen and her family live in the farmhouse and go about their daily business, picking fruit and vegetables from the trees around the farm and pool. This is a great way to experience life in Andalucia. Rute is only 1.5 miles away and many villagers walk along the road at dusk as it has great views across 20 miles of olive groves and mountains. The village has a good supermarket and most other types of shops you will need. We stayed 10 days and were able to take day trips to Cordoba (1hr), Granada (1.5hrs) and Sevilla (2hrs) as Rute is only 6 miles from the motorway. We also took a day trip around the beautiful Subbetica Natural Park and the Peublos Blancos on the hillsides. On other days we had the pool to ourselves. It is quite large and has a shallow end for kids and a deep end for adults. The cottages open onto a beautiful shady shared patio but also have their private balconies with super views. We were in the converted Barn which is at ground level, has plenty of room and is very tastefully decorated in a traditional style. There is also a 2 storey farmhouse and a converted hayloft up a flight of steps. To get to the cottage from Rute you drive to the top of the town towards the Aniseed factory/museum and turn right past the factory, it is then about 1.5 miles along that road.…

Found this gem a little off the main tourist trail in Rute. We had a last minute booking however the host, Carmen, and her husband were very welcoming even though we spoke very little Spanish. The cottages were gorgeous, all with views of the lake and olive groves. We really enjoyed this peaceful place to unwind for a few days. The nearby town, Rute, was also quite interesting with lots of food/drink related museums.
