Absolutely Amazing. We stayed in one of the newly updated cabanas. The accommodation was so clean and unique. Dave is so very thoughtful and helpful. Contact David at one of these phone numbers: (U.S. phone line: 850-733-0580 or his Mexican Line: 984-156-2400)

We stayed at Gringo Dave's a couple of years ago several times when crossing to and from Belize. We stopped in tonight and was just blown away! He had followed through on his plans of adding several beautiful cabanas. These are top notch accommodations, with two levels, overlooking the jade colored lagoon. Thatch roofs, hot showers and patios sitting out over the water is a combination that is hard to beat! We arrived in our Land Rovers with roof top tents and found grassy spots on the lagoon (lagoon of Miracles) to set up. Electricity, water, hot showers and clean bathrooms, all for $10 U.S. per tent! Not per person, like so many others. The grounds were lush and the facility updated. The views were spectacular! You do not want to miss this place if you are looking for camping or a weekend getaway. It was a little difficult to find any contact info for Dave, so I asked him for his number to share. He said anyone can call him on it. (984) 156-2400. Dave is the best host! Ask him to take you to Mommas for dinner.

We came upon Gringo Dave's Resort by chance, and how lucky we are to have found it! We stopped in for a break from driving to the boarder. A tranquil setting beside an azure and turquoise blue lake, with an excellent host, and more than enough space to relax. As soon as we arrived Dave welcomed us, and invited us to stay the afternoon and enjoy the refreshing water. Between the relaxing atmosphere, cooling fresh water, kayaking, and restaurant, we could have easily spent a few days. The prices are excellent, and the area is very peaceful, not too busy, which is a nice difference from Bacalar ( Laguna Milagros is not very far from there). Dave is more than willing to arrange day trips to ruins, the free zone, and many other activities. Stop in for a week, a night or just an afternoon. You wont be disapointed!! Thank you Dave for a wonderful time!!

Lovely, tranquil, CHEAP lakeside cabanas. Beautiful lawn and glittering lake. Very hospitable hosts, simple and comfortable accommodations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Don't miss dinner at Dona Panchita's...and try her amazing habanero sauce.

We stayed here on the recommendation of some American's who owned a property at Los Dos Ojos. This was by far the best campsite for border crossing I have ever come across, probably one of the best camping grounds I have been to full stop.
Dave was incredibly welcoming and whilst we were not aware that there was camping here, when we inquired he pointed to a prime water front spot, complete with a palapa dining area (that had lighting) on what would have been the first GRASS site we had come across in two months of driving through Mexico.
Top it off with a beautiful lake and kayaks and a fantastic restaurant, this is more than just a place for a border crossing. We were in tents and a 4X4 but there is also room for most size RV's (though probably not the most monstrous things that can transport the population of Luxembourg).

We found this place by chance when searching the internet. The path is not marked well by signs, allowing this to be a hidden jewel for campers, tents, and RV'rs. The lush green grass leads right up to the tranquil lagoon offering amazing sunsets and pop up showers. We camped directly on the shore of the lagoon next to the onsite restaurant. There are many extracurricular activities including, swimming, kayaking, sailing, sunset cruises, and much more! Dave (the owner) is onsite and extremely friendly. We pulled into the campground around 7 pm, and Dave greeted us promptly. After we set up camp, he came by to ask if we had dinner yet. We said, "no", so he said "come with me, Ill show you a great local restaurant". We had great Mexican dishes and very inexpensive. There is plenty of room for campers, tents, and RV's, however, there are also quaint, romantic palapas on site for rent. I would recommend this to anyone! We will be stopping back in on our way back from Belize.

Dave is a great host, the staff and the dogs are very friendly. The location is some hundreds yards from the main highway where the buses (Mayab, collectivos - not the ADO) make a stop. The lake is amazing, the yard is superb. Kayaks and sailing boat (HobieCat) are available for rent. The cabins with a thatched roof are large enough for 4 persons. We'll come back for sure...

We loved Dave and Gallo, their place was awesome with cabanas on the lagoon with swimming, kayaks, hobbie cat sailing. We stayed there on our way down to Belize and again on our way back cause we loved it. We had some medical as well as automotive issues while there and these guys went way out of their way to help us out - driving us around for appointments, assisting with translations, can't say enough of how much we appreciated the hospitality. We will be back....

Quaint and clean, variety of things to do and see and at terrific cost. Will go each year if I/we can! Really splendid and close to soooo much amazing stuff! They are huts or cabanas, very artful and peaceful.

"There are several simple cabanas. You can park your car right next to your door. The location feels safe. Each is lovingly decorated with beautiful paintings by the on-site artist! Low cost, tranquil cabins on the lake...a great place to come and just sit and enjoy the peace of the mornings, a beer at sunset, a morning swim. Lovely."Read full review
