It is not easy to find a great hotel on the Dutch coast line. Although generally the archictecture at the Dutch beaches is not that great, this beautiful hotel at the wonderful coast line was a great surprise! The hotel was renovated in 2019 and is not affiliated to a mayor chain and/or a luxury label. Check-in time is 14.00 hrs. Upon arrival we completed the check-in. Reception staff was very friendly and we were informed that the key to the room is also the key to the parking garage, which is free of charge. Free parking, especially in a garage, is a great bonus. From the garage there are elevators that go either up to reception or directly the room. We had a corner room on the first floor and stayed for one week. What you reserve is what you get, no complimentary or optional upgrades upon arrival. The room is well equipped, looks new, fresh and spacious. We did not opt for see view, from the bathroom however there was partial see view. We preferred a more spacious room instead of a smaller Sky Room sea view room since our stay was for a week and the weather forecast was not that good; a bit of extra space was more than welcome. The room was equipped with a seating area, a queen (?) bed a spacious bathroom with rain shower, a bath and separate toilette. There is also a very spacious balcony with views on Cadzand. There was a minibar and a Nespresso machine with 4 capsules daily, if you need more coffee an extra capsule is EUR 3. If a guest would take the effort to go down to reception and ask for extra coffee this should be free of charge. Tea was available on request. Two bottles of water a day are also included. Wifi was freely available. Due to the fact that the hotel has an open network the internet was often shut down due to 'infected' devices connected to the network. Especially these days wifi needs to be flawless and therefore these issues need to be addressed accordinly. The room was cleaned daily, however we noticed inconsistencies in cleaning the room such as no replacement of water bottles and/or no shampoo/bath salt, no table cloth for the in-room dining. Cleaning was also a bit 'comme ci, comme ca'. You might think that these are only small issues, but with such an amazing hard product where such an effort was made to create this wonderful hotel, the detail is in the service, the extra mile the staff is willing to take and understanding the client. During the week we noticed that the staff from reception were also responsible for cleaning the room, these double roles could explain why details were missed. Due to COVID-19 it was only possible to book the entire wellness as a private 80 mins experience for EUR 150. Since the hotel has a wonderful wellness area we booked the experience once. We highly recommend to book this experience even though the 80 minutes are a bit short for the full experience. Breakfast was included in our rate. Upon check-in we were asked about our preferences with regard to the time-slot that we would like to pick-up our breakfast box. Breakfast was excellent, great options and friendly staff. The only inconsistencies we could discover was not knowing if the box with pancakes consisted of 2 or 3 pancakes. With regard to dinner we opted once for the in-room dining experience and twice we ordered from the bistro. The in-room dining experience was great, instead of a glass of wine per course we needed to select both a bottle of red and white wine. The aperitif was served with something sparkling. Since it was my birthday the hotel did the extra step in serving a special desert. This was highly appreciated. The food from the bistro was however not that great. We were able to pick-up our dishes on the selected time. The menu was great, but the presentation and take-away where everything was combined in one aluminum box was disappointing. Also, one small bread with butter was provided for the both of us. Flavors were a bit flat, taste and experience were like a home cooked meal. We gave the bistro another try and see if we were just unlucky, however the vegetarian pasta was a supermarket experience (EUR 23). We highly recommend the in-room dining experience (EUR 120 a person), the quality of breakfast but to stay away from the bistro menu. We were able to order take-away from Blueness, a Japanese restaurant from two Michelin star chef Sergio for only EUR 60 (for two). Overall, Hotel De Blanke Top is a great find, excellent location directly on the beach and truly wonderfully renovated. It is currently classified as a four star hotel. That standard has been met if it comes to service, client experience and maintaining consistencies there is room for improvement.

A lovely hotel in a great location with fantastic facilities. I stayed here on three occasions in late November and early December 2020. The first visit was 100% perfect 2nd visit was also excellent. On the third visit things went wrong. I have to agree with Johnathan Corona measures are entirely ignored here. 1. Wine served after 8:00 pm (seen all three visits) 2. Staff not wearing a mask behind the bar (Dec 2020 when it was law) 3. The staff do not keep a distance of 1.5 Meters. (Very close less than 0.1 Meter) When I wanted to talk to the manager, a staff member kept blocking me (Very close less than 0.1 Meter). It was like a game where the object was to make sure the customer could not speak to the manager. When the manager did arrive, he prioritised the member of staff over the customer. I tried to contact Kimm De Milliano, Three times by email also via LinkedIn. I never got a response. The email address used to contact Kimm was from the hotel's web site. It’s a shame that the management can destroy such a lovely hotel experience.

The hotel is in reality as pretty and modern as it is in the pictures, if it ain’t better. We booked the Sky Room with the wine and dine formula for my partners bday and we couldn’t be happier. We were received with bubbles, we had a nice modern room with all amenities we might need. The hotel is located in the cozy Cadzand, which it’s a nice beach to relax and take a walk. Breakfast was good, with a nice beach view, good options and an excellent service. I am glad we have spent this special day at De Blanke Top and we are planning to come back during the summer.

We stayed 4 nights in a Generous Seaview room with a spectacular view. The hotel is wonderfully renovated. Pricey, though. Very nicely furnished and comfortable room. Large underground parking lot with lifts, very convenient. We had dinner twice at Le Sommet. It was delicious and very enjoyable but overpriced. We had dinner once at the Brasserie, good food. The staff is friendly but not very focused on service, probably due to the fact that there are many young trainees. Everything was well organized in spite of the covid restrictions. Breakfast and dinner slots were a good idea. However, breakfast was not well managed as the staff did not communicate well with each other and with customers. Travelling often in USA we are familiar with hostesses seating you at your table. See my comment about this hereunder. Overall we enjoyed very much our stay, it was very relaxing in a beautiful and comfortable hotel, perfect location. However, there is a big minus point and this is why I give only 3 stars. Customers should not be treated this way. A very unpleasant and uncomfortable incident happened at breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. The evening before we had asked the staff if we could reserve a table in the “private” room for breakfast, if possible. They made a note of our request. Our breakfast slot was at 10 AM, we arrived well on time and joined the queue. When we got to the desk at the entrance of the breakfast restaurant, we gave our name and room number to the friendly young hostess. Right away, she said she was going to look if there was a table available in the private room. Suddenly her colleague, an older waitress, got angry at us (!) and said it was not possible to make table reservations for breakfast. We were not aware of this. Very embarrassed, the younger waitress took us to a table which she thought was free but it was already taken, there was a handbag and a coat on the chairs. Since there was no other table available she took us back at the front desk and asked us to wait until a table would get free. It was not a problem to us. In an angry way (again), the old waitress loudly told us that we could not wait by the desk and had to go all the way back in line ! We did not agree since it was not logical at all but, since we did not want to argue like her, we went back in line for the second time. It ended up that all the people who originally were queuing behind us ended up being seated before us, about 10 people ! The young waitress looked very embarrassed, so were we… This incident made us feel extremely uncomfortable, as if we had done something wrong. This situation reminded me of a similar experience we had with the very same waitress last time we stayed here two years ago.

My husband and I booked a last minute long weekend at this hotel, after our other holiday plans got cancelled. We were delighted to have found this beautiful place right on the dunes overlooking the sea. Fantastic food, comfortable rooms, spa treatments out of this world, surrounding food and entertainment up to check. Loved every minute of it.
