Our stay at the lodge was one of the strangest experiences I've ever encountered. The owners are at best in the wrong profession. There are rules after rules to follow and we didn't relax once whilst staying here. The owners constantly walk in and pick you up on the smallest of details....NOTE: DOGS ARE NOT WELCOME HERE - a little...

Booked the Lodge for two birthdays. We had exclusive use for two nights. Lodge is a hostel available for groups to use and is geared up for outdoor activities. Two of our party were arriving by bike. They wanted to arrive in daylight before it got too icy to cycle and arrived at 3pm. They were not permitted to go...

Very quiet and beautiful nature scenery right outside. Very warm and cosy inside and the owners are very welcoming. Absolutely perfect for weekends away with children as it's just 10 minutes away from the landmark!

I absolutely loved my three-night stay at Slochd Moor Lodge, The lodge has an enviable position overlooking beautiful pine woodlands and moorland, but is close to the main road for easy access to the rest of the Cairngorms. Ian and Liz were wonderful hosts, unobtrusive but always there to answer questions or assist with any problems (not that there were...

My friend and I stayed in the dormitory for two nights. The hostel was great, very clean and cozy. The kitchen is very well equipped, the living room comfortable, and the owners friendly and helpful. The location was quiet and peaceful despite it being right by the A9, and very close to Aviemore and local attractions. Only negative thing was...

Liz and Ian provide a wonderful atmosphere at this very special place - calm, peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in a clean and friendly family room for two nights. There is a large lounge and a well equipped kitchen. Liz and Ian find just the right balance between looking after you and letting you get on with it. Will definitely...

We stayed here at the end of May 2015 and we were delighted at how lovely this hostel was. The hostel was spotless, comfortable and had the best equipped kitchen we have ever come across in a hostel. The owners were friendly and extremely helpful, especially when it came to giving us advice on how to tackle Ben Nevis in...

The hostel is clean and comfortable. Although it is right by the A9 it is quiet and close to great walking. We went up in the winter and also really enjoyed the cross country skiing. All the equipment, trails, open country and tuition required is on hand. Ian, the owner, is very helpful and a nice bloke in a highland way....

We stayed here last January and would not recommend it. The owner regularly visits the lodge to turn all the lights off and lurk about in the dark. As two girls travelling alone we felt extremely uncomfortable with this, he also advised us to have a two minute shower, and to turn off the shower when we out soap on...

I enjoyed my stay at the lodge, it was clean and well kept. The showers were excellent, there's an extensive kitchen and the owners were reasonably friendly. There is excellent walking trails over the railway bridge behind the hostel which I highly recommend. A few slight things to consider are that check in is from 17.00, also the turn off...

“We had a room on the top floor which is probably quieter if many are staying(wooden floors), but when we stayed (end of June) there was only 4 people there that night including us (that I ran into).”
