We stayed in the two bedroom chalet. Across the road from Oamaru Bay. Stunning sunsets. Perfect location for the beach. Friendly camp hosts. The unit was basic and comfortable. The deck out front is great with the verandah providing shade to relax. The pohutukawa trees across

We stayed in 2 of the cabins with views. The view was excellent, cannot fault it. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. There was an error in our credit card transaction and with some discussion it was quickly fixed, great customer service. We found the location great

We arrived one night after 6pm (what campground closes at 6pm by the way?) and the office was closed so we started our way into the camp to find a spot. We were planning on paying the next morning like it is possible on every campground in NZ. We slept in this camp the night

Rule 1 - you DO NOT ASSUME everything is the same in all campgrounds you go to in New Zealand. Rule 2 - you DO NOT ASSUME after staying at a place for 1 night and decided to come back for another night that it is alright for you to FAIL TO STOP at the office and roam around the place as you please. We do not have a car registration recognition on our cameras. We go to other campgrounds as well and all the time there is a sign at the front saying "ALL VISITORS MUST COME TO THE OFFICE TO REGISTER." Common sense will tell you if you are ENTERING a private property you cannot ROAM AROUND as you please for health and safety purposes.

Clean and tidy but for basic accommodation, the $160 per night two guests, was completely over the top. Only highlight was watching dolphins playing in the bay. There is other accommodation nearby so another time I would check that out first.

I recently booked two nights at Oamaru Bay (6-8 Jan 2018), but there was a big storm in North Island and the road from Hamilton to Coromandel was closed. There wan an alternative road, but it was not safe to use that road, as all the debris from the storm was still on the road.

There’s only 1 thing here that you mentioned is true, you booked for 2 nights. It’s a simple math understanding and a simple English understanding here. 1. You were supposed to check in the 6th Jan and check out 8th Jan. Therefore booking was deemed as a NO SHOW as you did not show up to check-in on the 6th, you don’t expect an industry to wait for you a day after you were supposed to check-in. 2. SH25A was never declared unpassable and dangerous. On the 6th Jan you were advised by us that we have other guests who have taken that route and was safe to come here and out of here. Some of them even have trailer boat with them. I don’t see why it would be any different with you. 3. 6Jan – 8Jan that you were supposed to be having your holiday here was a great fine day. This is something that you missed because you want to listen to somebody else not us, but that is your choice which had a consequence. 4. If you read the policy very well it states there that there is no refund on inclement weather and you can only be free of charge of cancellation if you cancel it 30 days before your arrival. I hope this is clear enough to understand.
