Detailed Reviews
My husband and I booked a trip to Costa Rica in early September, and because of busy schedules, hadn't actually gotten around to booking accommodations until two weeks before our October trip. I madly perused a variety of properties on just about every platform...and happened upon the Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, and the search ended. I showed my husband their listing, and he agreed it was head-and-shoulders above every other competing option. The nightly price included a beautiful breakfast and a yoga class (for each of us) every day, which helped seal the deal. The photos were amazing, and we felt we got a good deal on a fantastic looking room.
If you've ever arrived at a place you booked online and been disappointed that it didn't live up to the marketing, you are probably always prepared for disappointment upon arrival. Trust me...we there was NOT an ounce of disappointment with the Bodhi Tree.
We stayed in a King Tree Top room, which I highly recommend. It had a spectacular view over the jungle foliage, and was in a separate building with its own gorgeous and peaceful pool.
The restaurant was fantastic - with ample food options, all well prepared - and prices that were in line with local restaurants.
The resort was utterly delightful - both the amenities and offerings - from the high calibre yoga teachers like Andrea, Duncan, Melany, and Patrick...to a truly divine experience of a sound bath facilitated by the ethereal Tahere. We loved the Juice Bar - both for its healthy and delicious offerings AND for the swinging couch that became my regular haunt for reading, writing, and occasionally getting some work done. It's a beautiful communal space that engenders a sense of community and connection.
We also loved the location. The resort has a stable of beach bikes, and they not only provided an easy and practical way to get to the beach ( just a short ride) but they were also the source of great fun as we toured the charming beach neighbourhood of Playa Guiones.
From the time we arrived, we were wowed by the resort...but what took it over the top - and really made our vacation special was the STAFF. Christina (who I never met) had given me helpful advice during the booking process. For instance, she recommended flying from San José on Sansa instead of driving all that way, She explained we could then rent a car in Nosara...but we never did. We were too busy relaxing, exercising, beaching, and eating. (I don't remember a more chill vacation!)
When we first arrived and reached the top of the magical staircase, we were welcomed by Cindy who impressed us with her warm spirit, helpful attitude, and enthusiasm. By the end of our trip, we had come to consider her a friend! There are many other team members who impressed us - both in food service, and at the front desk and concierge desk - but the only other name I'll mention is Maylin in the spa, who my husband raved about ("best massage therapist ever!")
Overall, the choice of the Bodhi Tree helped make this a tremendously enjoyable and rejuvenating vacation! We will almost certainly return. :)

I can't even say enough accolades about my stay at Bodhi Tree. Even before my arrival, I was impressed with the excellent customer service. I emailed the front desk several times & ALWAYS got a prompt & clear response to my questions. The only disappointment was the fact that your spa manager never responded to my email regarding a special request which was accommodated by the spa receptionist upon booking my appt in person. Ecstatically it is a magnificent resort which honored the culture of peace & tranquility. However, the Staff is what made my experience exceptional. I am MOST appreciative to Angelo at the front desk & Kevin at the bar/restaurant. No matter how many questions I had or need to reschedule my excursion Angelo responded quickly & with a smile on his face. And Kevin's hospitality filled my soul with kindness & faith that people are indeed authentically good at heart. And to the numerous staff that I passed daily who always had eye contact & greeted me with an Hola; this restores my faith that people can indeed be good & how powerful a positive gesture can be. I also just want to comment on an incredible encounter I had with the staff. I was coming from an evening Yoga class & I had not been to that part of the resort & it was dark. I asked 2 male staff if they could direct me to my room; they pointed the direction & in less than 5 seconds I was met by another male staff member who walked me to my room. Although none of them spoke english they understood what I was saying & graciously assisted. I am saddened that as an American we do not practice nor value human connection & customer service in our country. My experience at Bodhi & in Costa Rica validated for me what I am truly missing & how incredibly important authentic human connection is. So thank you for providing me with exactly what I needed to restore my SOUL & remind me of what I need to practice eveyday.

The Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort was a wonderful and relaxing experience. The staff were very helpful when I called to book and when arranging transportation from the airport. They were always available to answer questions and help arrange activities and were super friendly.
Our room was very comfortable with a semi-outdoor bathroom and shower. The beds and linens were comfortable and clean.
The food was always amazing, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options, fresh fruit, salads, and delicious meals. We also enjoyed the smoothie bar with a good selection of smoothies, juices, and smoothie bowls.
We took advantage of the free shuttle to and from the beach, which staff will arrange at any time.
The yoga instructors were wonderful with a large schedule of various classes and beautiful yoga shalas.
We loved the beautiful pool with plenty of shady and sunny areas to sit.
The property is quite hilly with lots of stairs and somewhat steep slopes if that is a consideration for you.
We were able to walk to several shopping areas with beach boutiques and restaurants. The staff will also help arrange tuk tuks for transportation if needed.
We had a very tranquil and restful vacation at Bodhi Tree!

I don't understand the hype of this place and all the 5 star reviews for the cost and what you actually get: tiny rooms without a good place to store clothing (the closet is in the bathroom which means all your clothes are damp and smelly, no luggage rack, only enough space for 1 person's clothing, etc.), room doesn't at all match what is online (the room we booked was supposed to have chairs in a nice garden space, we had a very small walled in area with zero chairs), and the pool / hang out areas are NOT big enough for the number of people staying at the resort (57+ rooms, but only about 20 beds at the only pool area, juice bar seating always full, etc.).
Are the grounds beautiful? Yes. Are the yoga and workout spaces stunning? Yes. Are the yoga instructors great? Most but not all of them. Is everything overpriced both here and in Nosara in general? Yes.
Overall save yourself some money, book a nice bungalow in town, spend the extra money you save on a golf car, and come here for yoga daily.

I ran a yoga retreat in October 2024. The site is like paradise...Lush gardens, vibrant colours, winding paths, trickling water, beautiful pool, statues hidden in many corners to add to the magic. Accommodations were very comfortable and we really appreciated having air conditioning AND a dehumidifier in our room as we were there in the rainy season. (Weather did not impede our activities). All of our participants in our yoga retreat were duly impressed.

Where to start... This is one of the most amazing yoga and wellness resorts I have visited anywhere in the world. We were fortunate to stay at Bodhi Tree for a few days before our rented house was available. I never thought there could be somewhere more beautiful than Yoga Barn in Ubud, but Bodhi has taken the top spot in my heart. I tried to learn as much of the history of Bodhi Tree while there and learned that the owner has put his whole heart and soul into his employees, the community, and the resort environment.
From the moment you are greeted and helped with your luggage, the rough roads fade almost instantly. The selection of yoga teachers they can attract to teach here is world-class, with 2 gyms and a spin studio! The pool is refreshing at all times of the day. And the juice bar, so friendly, so delicious, and so inviting. Plenty of places around the resort to spread out, meditate, and get some work done.
If I can offer advice to my fellow travelers, avoid staying here on Thursdays unless you can sleep through a concert. There is a bar called IL Basilico all the way across the highway that does Reggae night that will play from 9 pm until past 2 am ridiculously loud. Like completely unnecessarily loud. At first, I thought it was just me, but when sitting at the juice bar on Friday the next morning talking to others, I was not the only sleepless guest. Someone shared that this has been an ongoing problem for Bodhi and the local families/children surrounding IL Basilico. Super bummer.
Bodhi Tree, thank you, you are amazing and I will definitely stay with you again in the future. I cannot wait to try your spa and sound journey on my next trip! But I will stay days that IL Basilico is not being disrespectful to the community. Sorry, you have to deal with them. Love and peace. KS

This was our first trip to Costa Rica, and we wanted to stay in Nosara. The only hotel with any availability for the week we wanted (Christmas week) was Bodhi Tree Resort. What a nice surprise!! The property is stunningly beautiful. Excellent food, staff, accommodations, yoga activities. We are a short walk to the village and the beautiful beach. I looked around at other hotels that are closer to the beach, but none compared to Bodhi Tree Resort. My husband and teenagers didn’t do any yoga, and they still loved it here. I did quite a few yoga classes and Pilates, and also did beach activities and shopping. The other guests are friendly too! We will definitely come back.

-Best food ever!!
-Need more quiet poolside space, the existing MAIN pool deck is a thoroughfare to the cyber cafe. The Oceana pool chairs are often full of people looking for a quiet place.
-Massages were amazing.
-Outdoor bathroom in 202 needs updating. Tough to slide doors open and closed at night to keep in the AC without waking my roommate. Maybe put a wall between the shower and the part where there is sink and toilet so that the latter has AC and less insect invasion. Then keep the shower outdoors, which is LOVELY.

This was our second time at Bodhi Tree and our first time attending the Signature Yoga Retreat hosted by the amazing Melany and Duncan. Bodhi Tree never disappoints. Upon arriving, you immediately feel a wave of calm, which stays with you throughout the week. The yoga is world-class, the food is nutritious and fresh, the sense of time and responsibilities pause while hanging at the pool, and the accommodations are comfortable with a Costa Rican flare (outdoor shower!). I highly encourage attending the Signature Retreat with Mela and Duncan. They balance each other's practices and knowledge of yoga (like yin and yang!), and it's approachable for all levels and where you're at in your journey. We can't wait to go back and visit Bodhi!

Beautiful property, well kept, lovely pools, fabulous yoga studios and instructors. The gym was well equipped. The beach is too far to walk but shuttles are offered at no additional cost. The breakfast (which was included in our package) was really really good with heathy options, great coffee and juices, freshly baked goods and different options daily.
