Courtyard homes are the norm for El Salvador. From the outside it is very unassuming but once inside the hostel is warm and friendly. Sad that Covid has decimated the tourist business here. The balconies would be great to hang out with other guests trading stories. Sad that we were the only guests that day. Rooms are clean and inviting. Make sure you ask for blanket, we were cold. We were able to bring our car into the garage for a very safe venue.
Loving our time here at Casa Verde in Santa Ana, El Salvador. Unfortunately we are here during the covid-19 pandemic. As many have said, Carlos is a very gracious host and has let us “quarantine” here while we figure out options to get back to Canada. The amenities and facilities at Casa Verde are above what any hostel has ever offered us. It really is more like a hotel here. Very clean, stocked fridges of beer and snacks, kitchen area with (quite literally) every appliance, and a nice well taken care of pool area. There is a movie area where you can watch Netflix, Firestick, and cable TV. Multiple tour options are available to be booked through the front desk, and it seems Carlos knows everyone in the local area. Casa verde is affordable, and should be a no-brainer for those looking for lodging here in Santa Ana! Thanks to Carlos and all Casa Verde staff for their warm and helpful vibes! …
We stayed at Casa Verde for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a spacious private room with private bathroom and it had everything we needed. The bed was comfy, there was a fan and A/C was available but extra. We didn't need it though, even with 36C outside during the day. There was also cable Tv and Netflix in the common area. The shared kitchen was amazing. It was large and had a full range of condiments to use in preparing your meals. There was also a pool which was very handy to combat the Santa Ana heat. The location of the hostel is also convenient as it is close to bus stations and a local market. Finally Carlos our host and his team were very friendly and helpful. Carlos helped us find accommodation at our next destination and even spoke to the next hotel to help us book it. This is definitely the place to stay when in Santa Ana.…
I've stayed in many hostels from 1982 to the present. The Hostal Casa Verde may well be the best ever. The premises: immaculate, pleasing to the eye, sprawling, and well laid-out. My private single (Room#1) had an en suite bathroom that was bigger than two of my bathrooms at home put together. The amenities: two excellently stocked kitchens; a lovely pool; comfy hammocks; individual food and fridge storage areas; thoughtfully designed dorm rooms and dedicated backpack storage area; TV/game room tucked away to one side so that watching the tube doesn't become the main focus of guest interaction; an honor bar; and colorful picnic tables that encourage conversation and communal dining; on-premises laundry service. The travelers: people of all ages from all over the world. Something about the spirit of the place seemed to put people at their best. The staff: warm, personable, prompt, diligent, friendly. Carlos and his crew are the kind of people you'd love to hang out with. Security: the hostel itself sits behind a nondescript steel door that is only opened by staff members when the doorbell rings. There is a very small sign. The place doesn't call attention to itself and is always locked up. In my room, there was a keyed lockbox for small valuables. Noise level: Signs in the hostel make it clear that this is not a party hostel and that guests are expected to keep it down after 10 pm. What impressed me the most was how thoroughly the details of hostel life have been thought out. There are signs everywhere so you seldom have to ask where something is. There is ample storage. The design of the premises is very thoughtful--everything is easy to find, easy to access, easy to use. I didn't want to leave!…
Carlos an ever generous host the epitome of the Dalai Lama's ' kindness is my religion '. All the amenities one would possibly wish for. Comprehensive kitchen provisions. I challenge any one to better Casa Verde entire catering deal and since 2007 ! Six times at this exceptional hostal...sufficient approval surely....david andrew.
