We have stayed in many places in Matala over the years and most the beds are hard and uncomfortable, but the onew in Hotel Fantastic are super. The host Natasa and her father are extremelywelcoming and helpful. This the second time this year we have stayed here and will probably visit again in September/October even though it is only just over 2 hours drive from our home in Crete. The Location is also excellent and only a mater of minutes away from the beach and the tavernas. This year unfortunately the Matala Street Painting weekend which we vist for every year was cancelled due to the Coronavirus situation, but Matala is still an excellent place to visit and Hotel Fantastic a super choice
We walked in off the street and were drawn to the very pretty Hotel Fantastic immediately. The family who run this place are very friendly, hospitable and caring of our needs. They helped to find us accommodation for our next stay on the island. The room was very fancy and catered to our every need. On the terrace you either get a view of the sea on one side, or the amazing cliffs at sunset on the other side. Bliss! We felt very relaxed here, the room was clean and comfy, with a little kitchen. The walk into town is only 1 minute and the street the property is on is heaven, full of flowers and happy people. There is an ATM and shop at the end of the road (less than 1 minute) The lady of the house make us cake and it was delicious. We didn't want to leave.
Relly nice studios with even nicer hosts. We did not have a reservation, planned to stay only one night, but the hosts were so friendly that we decided to stay two. The room was small but beautiyful an the balkony was great to relax and have a drink on. Each day we got little, homemade, delicious snacks from our hosts which we could enjoy on the beautyful beaches nearby.
Fantastic Hotel in Matala really is... fantastic. The loveliest hosts, who make sure your stay is fabulous, offering you a freshly baked snack (homemade cookies, pies) to take to the beach. Clean rooms with fridge, hair dryer, water cooler, ac, balcony and luscious beds. The garden is beautiful, as is the roof terrace and the location. Bakery and supermarket within a few 100 meters, the beach a stone’s throw. You won’t regret staying here and returning for sure!
We have recently returned from a wonderful, relaxing week in Matala, staying at Hotel Fantastic, which was a joy. Theodoros and Maria (we called them Mr and Mrs Fantastic!) and their daughter Natasa, made us feel very welcome. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The hotel is beautifully kept, and perfectly placed in a quiet street 2 minutes from a wonderful beach, and the town square, which has a good selection of restaurants and tavernas. Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed very comfortable, and the en suite had a good shower with plenty of hot water. The room also had air conditioning, a fridge, kettle, WiFi, and a balcony overlooking the mountains - everything that you could want. A big thank you to the 'Fantastic' family, for a great holiday. We will be back! Douglas and Sarah…
This was an excellent hotel. We had a super room with a balcony and hot powerful shower. The couple running the hotel were delightful and so friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and found the location absolutely perfect. They clearly take pride in their accommodation and were keen for us to have a lovely stay. Matala is a delightful place - wonderful beach and town and even better when you go off season! Excellent breakfast too supplied in local cafe.
What an amazing welcome and stay in a family loved, built and run hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, rooms amazing and well looked after. Position is one of the best, in the centre of the village/town/square. We will return. Could not have been better, thank you 🙏
The grounds of the property are lovely with a welcoming terrace and roof deck. The room was small and sparse with tiny bath, but spotless. No TV. The location is terrific, easy walk to town and harbor. Although they don't offer breakfast the manager's wife offered us homemade cake and nescafe each morning. Free parking. Very economical.
Very nice and hospitality host! Very clean and cozy 2 rooms with kitchen! free parking. You can go from hotel directly to the main square of Matala and to the beach. on another side so quiet street (way to red beach). Good place for staying in Matala/
Wearrived in Matala in November without previously booking. Most os Matala had closed down for the season but luckily we found the Hotel Fantastic, one of the few places open at that time of the year. We had a two room studio with a kitchen and a lovely big balcony. It was still warm enough to eat outside in November a real treat after coming from the UK winter. We cooked for ourselves as most of the restaurants were closed. We had a car so shopped in the supermarkets and markets of Moires and went to all the archaeological sites. Weather was lovely and the hotel was peaceful and welcoming. Little presents of food and drink were appreciated and we had an extremely comfortable and relaxing time. Highly recommended.
