My husband and I stayed here last week for 4 nights booking on Hotels.com. Booking very smooth, no problems. The rooms are clean and basic (for info: no toiletries). They were cleaned/serviced every day. They are just off the road and the signpost for them coming into Matala village is slightly hidden but if you go past (like we did) the signpost the other way is more visible. It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach, shops and tavernas in Matala. This location means it is very quiet and peaceful (except for loud Germans in the room next to us!). In the day we were often the only people by the pool. The pool was a great size to swim in and a lovely spot to relax in. The continental breakfast was included and was a good selection of fresh bread, meat, cheese, watermelon,

I booked on Travelocity, arrived at night to find no one; apparently they had some communication problem, Travelocity thought they had room while they did not. They didn't answer the phone, slept in my rental car (fun!); The next morning the extraordinarily rude lady yelled at me for calling her at 2 AM. As if I did this to chat? Surely it's their responsibility to make sure they are communicating correctly with Travelocity??! I had a confirmed reservation. In fairness, the location is very good - very close to the breathtaking Matala beach, esp the red beach trail.

Dear Karen hello as my Manager inform you we don't have any co-operation with Travelocity and also we have not receive any reservation in your name the night who you come in Matala...also is not really polite from your side to be untruth and say that you have a "confirmed reservation" to our Hotel as we don't receive it from anyone...anyway I wish you the best for the winter. A stones throw from the beach and tavernas but far enough away to relax by the pool and sip a few cold glasses from the bar. Rooms are great value for money with simple yet hearty breakfasts. Dimitris Villas has family run touch to it and gives you a taste of Greek holidays just as they should be....

We spend 14 nights at Matala Dimitris Villa in July and could not have chosen better accommodation for our holiday. From arrival to departure, the family who own and run the Dimitris did everything in their power to ensure our stay was an enjoyable one. Certainly the room was on the small side, but given that we spent very little time there, apart from sleeping, it had everything we could possibly need including a TV (although we never even plugged it in!) a fridge and very efficient air conditioning. It was thoroughly cleaned daily apart from Sunday and the bedding and towels were changed every other day. Breakfast was included in the price and included fresh bread, home made cakes, eggs, cold meat, tomatoes, yoghurt, honey plus loads of fresh melon and was way better than

Returned here for the second year running, this time spending just over a week at the Dimitris villas A warm welcome from staff in the evening, and a comfortable room still with free air con, daily cleaning, free mosquito plug, plenty of storage and comfortable beds The ground floor did seem to suffer cockroaches and the wifi was only good in the pool area and very corner of the terrace. However that's normal for most of Crete and the least of concerns I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return again next year Matala. Το μεράκι !

There are cockroaches in the rooms!! We saw three, successfully killed two, but we could not sleep at the idea that some more could crawl on us. No one was there during night, so it was impossible to sleep somewhere else. We told the front desk lady in the morning, and we were answered that "this is normal" and that "everyone in Matala has cockroaches". I'm pretty sure this is not true. Plus, if there are some in the rooms, I cannot imagine what's going on in the kitchen. We skipped breakfast and ran away in the morning. Moreover, there was no hot water, and no Wifi in the rooms, only outside.

Responded Jul. 1, 2015
is totally untruth the story about the COCKROACHES as our Hotel every month use a Company who put chemicals in the Hotel Area for bugs and flies and of cource we have all legal country papers for this...I try to find the reason why the guest do that and I thing maybe the reason is because she like to have a money refound because she don't use the breakafast as she wake up very late every morning ..we don't accept to refound the cost so that why I thing she collect from somewhere these bugs and take a paper from the Reception with the Logo of our Hotel make the foto....if the guest story is truth why she don't make the foto and in the backround to show the room?....or the Hotel??...is just a very close foto with some bugs in a plastic bag with a paper who everybody can take from the Reception area....but not in our Hotel ...everybody can make this foto if has a paper with our Hotel Logo from the Reception.

Off the main road so is quiet but only five minutes walk from Matala Beach. A small family run affair which looked like it had been recently decorated. The rooms are small but spotlessly clean. Room facilities are good and include TV, air conditioning, a safe and a fridge The beds are reasonably comfortable. Continental breakfast is good value for 5 euros extra. We did not use the pool or bar facilities. The free internet didn't work in our room though was mostly fine outside except it kept dropping out. Reasonable price and would definitely stay there again.

Only stayed for one night on a mini tour of southern Crete, we wish we had planned for longer. All staff very friendly and helpful, room was small, but everything you need, free air con, free safety deposit, free wifi, also fridge in room. With small private balcony on our upstairs room. The hotel is probably around 30 years old, but we found our room to be well maintained and very clean. Breakfast was normal continental fare, which we found perfect for us. We plan to stay a little longer, hopefully same time next year. We felt that we paid very little, but got a great deal back in return.

Nice lady-owner, her daughter=our main contact was little less nice (seemed tired with duties&clients). Our room was rather not pretty, with something 0,5x0,5m2 as a "balcony", and too small - but we were with a baby and additionally they gave us a baby bed (that took space, which is normal). But if you come just with a friend or a spouse, it should be enough - very simple, in a quiet place & good point to start your excursions. 5 minutes by walk from the center& beach. With a swimming pool (was full but dirty & not warm enough end April/beg of May). Poor breakfast - but included in an inexpensive price, so ok. There was no water for 2 days in the town and around, and then in our room the pressure was too low, and the owner offered a key to another room with better pressure -
