Hospitality in Greek language is treasured as one of the most precious values and inheritance we got from our ancient Greek roots and the Cretan culture. We mean to offer this to our guests while they stay in our hotel.
I would just like to say I was so happy there, very calm and peaceful! Really liked the colourful apartments and so clean too. I enjoyed getting to know the wonderful family and spending time with them even though they are so busy all the time yet still always try to do the very best for everyone that was noticed big time! Eleni and mirianthi are very good cooks and were giving guests homemade food ! Not what you usually get in a hotel , here much more of a personalised touch! Wow! Also Eleni made fresh tasty biscuits and would give them out to her guests. The place was near to Matala too 7 mins! And it's nice to go out from the main part of matala into a tranquil area to go bank to your apartments! Lovely smiley helpful people! Clean place, gorgeous food for an absolute…

We booked Dimitris Villa for one night on a return trip to our beloved Matala. This was a very special website deal that couldn't be passed up, and so our expectations were not too high. The hotel is not as close as it claims to be to the beach (200m), but it is set back behind the main drag, giving it a peaceful vibe which is what Matala is all about. We had a lovely room opening onto a terrace, twin beds, tv (didn't need), fridge, tiny but adequate bathroom, and a proper safe with old-fashioned key, which is always a much-appreciated feature. The room was clean, but the beds were uncomfortable - mattresses had seen better days. That said, it was great to be within strolling distance of the beach and restaurants. Breakfast was pretty basic, but ok. The staff who met and…

Reading all those negative comments really makes me wonder if those complaining really have been to the same Dimitris Villa I have been returning to time and again (10+ by now, I think...) ever since 2001. Reading those "Never in life does this hotel have tree stars." makes me wonder if those complaining have any hint of an idea how those stars are granted and that the organization granting the star classification uses standardized measures for any hotel they classify. Reading those "We were not able to communicate with anyone in English beyond a few words." makes me wonder how bad/un-understandable the "English" of those complaining could possibly have been, as I have had both ex- and intensive discussions (in English!) with Eleni and Marianthi on various topics and we never…

This rental house has its unique peculiar style that well corresponds with the atmosphere of Crete and Matala, in particular. The rental rooms face a small courtyard with a lot of flowers that make you truly feel you're on holidays now! The rental house is located off the main road therefore, no need to worry about the traffic noise. As you enter the room (our was on the groundfloor), your enthusiasm might wane a little for the room interior somewhat contrasts with the flowery exterior. It appears dark and small, especially at first glance. Indeed, it isn't huge, however, the space available is sufficient for a couple who spends the whole day outside and the room uses just for sleeping at night. Actually, outside the room, in the courtyard, there is a small plastic set (a table…

The place is clean, situated on a quiet plot only a few minutes away from the beach, very friendly and familiar personal, you get a simple breakfast buffet and that's about it. The bathroom is kind of small. Didnt matter to us though. And a room on the upper (1st) floor is better recommended for more privacy.

We stayed in this hotel for 6 night. Our room was downstairs despite the fact that in the reservation we marked that we would like room in upstairs. Rooms in downstairs are bigger but we heard water of the waste pipe also in the night and our room was very dark. Breakfast and pool were nice. Room was cleaned every day and towels were changer every third day.

Nice location, just a leisurely 5min stroll from beach & village which is set in a beautiful cove with crystal blue waters, full of marine life (they even have turtles coming up to nest now & again). Village has about 20-30 restaurants & bars, traditional with good fish & grilled dishes as you'd expect. These are all perched on the cliffs around the cove so it's very scenic. Don't expect jumpin' clubs & sports bars..I found one bar only that had a TV with sports etc. & a few have live music. Hotel has about 30 rooms with 2-3 beds, shower, bath, fridge & AC all included. Simple but clean & comfy. Lovely pool, which is always nice & quiet, there were only ever a max of 8 people around it. With about 20 sunbeds you never have to worry about getting one. Location is nice and…

The hotel itself is not bad, although father away from the beach than most. We've had an impression, though, that the owner couldn't care less about the guests. She didn't offer any help, and expressed annoyance when we came for dinner promptly at its posted start time (told us we should have warned her, and now would have to wait 30 minutes). While waiting, we observed her friend smoking right over her cutting the salad and cooking the main course, so we decided to eat elsewhere. For that we got another portion of annoyance - how coyuld we leave when she was already making the salad?! Stay here if you are just passing by and care for the cheapest possible price, otherwise pay a few $$ more for a friendly place.

It's the staff who determine whether or not your stay somewhere is special, and here, they are just amazing! You are made to feel at home from the beginning and this rubs off on all the guests. Rather than your impersonal types of accommodation where you are one of a hundred or more strangers who never get to know each other, here, you are part of the family and guests mix well. It's a great place to stay. Dimitris Villa is on the main street, it is just that is has a long driveway which, until you learn where it is, can be easily missed... but it's not difficult to find. We arrived in Matala after a long drive from Elafonisi and were keen to settle in quickly and start relaxing. We missed the entrance the first time we passed it but very quickly realised we'd gone too far,…
