Tony ensured that we had a great stay. Facilities were very good both within the cabin ( we had no. 6) and in the site. Lovely view over the lake and various activities available - all free.
Access to Algonquin Park was easy on highway 60 - so much to see and do.

We were very happy with our one-week stay here. We were in cottage #7 which is a 2-bedroom right on the beach. It was perfect because of a big shady tree and being right on the water. It was VERY clean.

The owners (Tony and Adri) were friendly and helpful. Tony was always cleaning up around the property so everything was tidy (no goose poo on the beach!).

The waterfront area was very beautiful. Tony raked the sand every morning. There's a dock that some people fished off of. We were not very successful with fishing in this lake. We caught a few pike and small mouth bass from a canoe, but in general it didn't seem to be a very good fishing lake.

There were tons of watercraft at this resort. We never had to wait for anything. My kids liked the stand up paddle boards the best. They also spent a lot of time on the floating raft in the water.

We took a canoe and kayak up the Oxtongue River to see Ragged Falls. It was a nice leisurely paddle that took us about 50 min. to get to the falls from the resort. Highly recommended!

The only 2 "problems" that bothered us a bit were: wifi was very weak/slow, especially during the beginning of our week (but the owner said there was a storm that knocked out a tower). Also, there's no oven or toaster oven in the cottage (so no chicken nuggets and fries for the kids).

But overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort. It was a scenic and relaxing week!

Comfortable cottage, clean and with everything we needed. Hardwood floors. Comfortable bed, decent bathroom. Very nice people running it. Beach provides shade if you want it and plenty of water crafts and exploring by boating. We recomnend it.

We went in mid June so were able to stay for 2 nights. I think July and August are weekly rentals. Close to Lake of Bays. We chose this type of trip so we could remain separate during Covid.

What a lovely place! Just 8 cottages - 6 super private in the trees and 2 on the beach. My cottage (#7) was far more than I expected. It was quite large and the owners had thought of everything. Nothing missing from the kitchen at all. And it was so clean. The owners were very nice. Tony spent quite a lot of time with us trying to get our fire started as the weather had been very wet. He really didn't have to do that, but it shows the level of service they provide. Location , well just minutes from the gates of Algonquin Park so it can't get much better! This is a perfect place for a mini break and now I've discovered it I'll be returning as often as I can.

We stayed in cabin # 6. It is new and very nice. Very clean and well kept. Spacious, with a well equipped kitchen for cooking. Close to the lake.
The outdoor chairs are cheap & uncomfortable. The view of the lake is minimal, blocked by trees.
The beach is nice, lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas. There are many kayaks, paddle boards, canoes. There is a nice playground for kids. There is a well stocked trading post on site, with all the basic necessities you may need while there.
We have stayed at “cottage resorts” in the past and have always loved them. We enjoy meeting other people, socializing on the beach etc. However, although there were cars at every cottage, it was like we were there alone. No one on the beach. No kids playing in the park. No one walking around. We really missed the social aspect of the vacation. The owners were very friendly and polite when we checked in, as well as when we were in the trading post. Other than that we never saw them out & about in the property.
I think the owners need to engage more with the guests. Have some weekly social events to get people out & mingling. At other cottage resorts, we’ve had a schedule of events such as bonfires, corn roasts, corn hole tournaments, karaoke nights, etc. This property has so much potential, with a bit more effort it could be amazing.

if you dont mind feeling unwanted or a burden then this is the place for you, owners have become very rude and unappreciated of paying customers, they spent most of there time complaing about other guests and what they did or did not do during there stay. customer service is not present at this resort. besides the new cottage #3 they build the rest are old rundown and expensive for the area, you can get better cottages across the lake with cleaner beaches and more to do for kids without having to always look over your shoulder to see if the owners are going to roar at you for doing nothing wrong.

Response from parkwaycottages, Owner at Parkway Cottage Resort And Trading Post

Once again I am at a loss with this one, We have had no regulars in from Toronto recently, it would seem that this and the previouse complaint were written by the same person. Once again if there was a problem why not say while they were here or when they left. When the four twenty year olds that left a cottage in a mess were charged for the cleaning etc they did threaten us, maybe this is their revenge.

The location is excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Algonquin park is just 10 min away. There were paddle boats, canoes and kayaks in the beach. Safety kit and life vests are also available in the office free of charge. We had lot of fun and had great time. I would definitely recommend this affordable and very clean cottage resort.

My wife and I were on a 2 day getaway to the Algonquin area. We made no advance reservations due to the last minute trip and we wanted to see where we would stay. We looked at 2 locaitons on Oxtongue lake before stopping at Parkway. One was good but the available cabin had no view of the lake, the second was beautiful but way beyond our budget. Parkway Cottage Resort was affordable and the only cabin available was #8, a beachfront cottage. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the cottage and resort. The beach was well groomed and even the fire pit was well cared for. Our only negative was the size of the bed. We are used to a king bed and a double is quite an adjustment. I think in general, all cottages should have queen beds rather than double beds. Of course, a queen would not fit in these rooms but I must say they could ask a higher price if the beds were larger and more comfortable. The hosts were quiet but after a short conversation, the British wit became apparent. We definitely recommend this resort but probably not for romantic getaways. Then again, it's not priced as high as the romantic getaway resorts.

It seems the owners are trying to squeeze some more money out of every guest. They will try to blame non-existant problems on you or anything bad they can see fit to ruin your stay. We stayed for two days and we did not know that one of the window net was broken. We could not figure out why there were millions of mosquitos in our cottage. Then we found out the culprit broken window mesh. We left the place very clean but the owners found one pan that was not fully clean and charged us $50 dollars. Then they were very rude and obnoxious to us. Well we will never go there again and will tell all of our frends to stay away from that hidden hell.

Response from parkwaycottages, Owner at Parkway Cottage Resort And Trading Post
Responded Aug 30, 2012
It would appear that the truth is as much a stranger as a dishcloth and brush. The cottage was left in a disgusting condition with food ground into the laminate floor, filthy work surfaces and cooker top, dirty crockery and cooking utensils and yes the burned pan that they mentioned amongst other things. We discovered the pushed out screen after they had left, needless to say we were not informed that it was broken and the previous renter will testify that it was Ok when they left and when we checked it. Strange that they have omitted to mention that they left a barbecue lighter on the stove top, melted it and blew it up and that I was threatened and sworn at in front of witnesses on our forecourt when I confronted them about the state that they had left the cottage in. It took two of us over five hours to clean and effect repairs before we could allow the next guests to occupy the cottage. We have retained the photographs we took of the cottage when they left and of course we kept the melted barbecue lighter. They got away extremely lightly with only a $50.00 surcharge (incidentally these are the only ones we have had to charge this year) If we had known the full extent of the abuse to the cottage and the time it would take to put it right it would have been substantially more.

Unless you enjoy small, smelly and dirty little cabins, with unfriendly if not hostile staff, you won't like this place
The "beach" is so small, muddy and unattractive, it goes hand in hand with the rusting "children's playground" partially camouflaged by the overgrown weeds. There is little here to find attractive, except the other resorts visible from the lake

This review is total fiction and I would suggest malicious. We have over 200ft of sandy beach on Oxtongue Lake, We do not have a children’s playground only a set of swings (wood) and a basket ball net on the mown lawn behind the beach. Our cottages are well maintained, one is three bedroom, others are two and one bedroom, they are certainly not dirty or smelly and there are many around the lake far smaller than ours. We do however have rules that are in place to ensure that the majority of our guests enjoy their stay with us. Some people obviously do not like being told that they cannot arrive before our 3pm check in time, annoy other guests or have drunken parties. These are rules that we will continue to enforce even though a disgruntled minority will try to harm our thriving resort with this kind of review.
