Stephanie went above and beyond to make me feel welcome upon arrival, even picking me up where I was dropped off by my intercity and being willing to take me the following morning. The hostel is cosy and peaceful, a perfect base for all of the waitomo activities on offer! Highly recommend this hostel, great value for money too!

I stayed at the hostel for one night to do the Legendary Black Water Rafting the following day. For this purpose, the hostel is the perfect spot to stay, as it is just across the street. The hostel is clean and in a nice old-fashioned style. The man behind the reception that welcomed me was super friendly and funny and...

Stayed there for one night. We came without a reservation, luckily we wanted a non-powered site because they didn't have any beds. Very cheerful stuff who can give good advises. Besides the hostel you can find a pool and a tennis court, but also the Caves! Can absolutely recommend it.

Definitely a hostel with above average quality. The six room dorm was surprisingly spacious, and the location is fantastic for any of the glowworm caving activies. One major sticking point i have with this otherwise fantastic place was charging for WiFi access. Like, hello, its 2016 💁💁💁? As a discerning asian male, i expect access to WeChat to let all...

So you walk in, the staff are super cheerful, asking for your first names, cause that's way more comfortable. They check you in and then ask your plans, because it's a very small town, with mainly just the caves and it's activities... They told us where to go, where to get discounts, where to go for dinner (thanks!) then you...

We walked in to the hostel and luckily there's space for us. Stayed in a shared girls' dorm. This YHA was special because it is located in the farm - get a little glimpse of farm stay. You can greet the super friendly cow, sheep and cute little lamb. Plus, the pigs. There's plenty of shower rooms and toilets for...

This hostel was just so perfect! Between the adorable dog in the common area, to the neighbor's goat, pig, and deer peering through the fence, to the baby lamb on the property, I really felt like I was in rural NZ. The building also has a wonderful wrap-around porch so you can soak up the fresh air and scenery. The...

This hostel is another YHA hostel which I have really enjoyed staying with. Dave the manager is very friendly outgoing and fun to be around. The beds are nice, rooms clean and a very quiet farm setting. The TV room is comfy and the kitchen nice. I wanted to go for a short walk and the manager gave me a...

The hostel has a really lovely atmosphere, set amongst a farm and surrounded by rolling countryside and animals. Myself and a friend stayed here for two nights, and Steph who greeted us was lovely and I immediately felt at home. It's right above the black water rafting place, and maybe a 15 min walk into town, but the manager was...

Stayed at the camping grounds for 2 days. The facilities are good enough for what you pay. The first day the girl at the reception desk was nice and welcoming. The second day the manager was not so great. Made me feel as though I couldn't ask questions as I should already know the answers to them (weird sarcasm). Even...
