I made a booking with Extreme Backpackers for a double with ensuite and to also do the Tongariro Crossing, through out the duration from making the booking to arriving the place the staff were very fast and efficient and friendly. I was impressed how they looked after me with any information needed regarding cancelation of the bus shuttles to the...

Was here for Tongariro crossing and hostel helped to book for transport to National Park. The hostel was well maintained and wifi strength was good. Lounge was comfortable and kitchen was clean. Hostel staff was kind to let store luggage while staying one night in National Park.

Joanne and Craig made me feel at home at this hostel. They helped me out with fixing transport to the Tongariro Crossing. The hostel is clean, the kitchen is well equipped with everything I needed for cooking and I could make myself comfortable in the lounge and in the hammock on the patio. The location is just two minutes from the bus...

Great homely feel made by the set up - hige lounge with tv, good kitchen, courtyard area with hammocks etc. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, making sure we were prepared to do the alpine crossing the next day and also where to hang my washing to get the last sun of the day (its the little things). Comfy...

It was honestly one of the best backpacker's stay for me in NZ. Clean and quiet place with free-to-use BBQ stove and 5 mins walk to a grocery store. Incredibly friendly staff and only half an hour drive to the starting point of Tongariro Crossing made it even better. Will recommend to friends for sure.

This is a nice well equipped backpackers with a good kitchen and nice common areas. Seems to attract backpackers older than 20. Probably because it's nice, clean and quiet. The manager brings in fresh vegetables from the garden too for the kitchen.

The place has basic facilities with quite spacious kitchen to cook and dine. Hot showers available, beds fairly comfy. Stayed only one night ina 3-bed room with friends but wouldn't possibly come back since it is quite dull area of the country. Enjoyed visitng lake Rotopounamu though. Great energies around.

What a nice family run hostel! Very friendly people! Big clean kitchen (except when a group of americans left it in a mess, which was very disrespectful to the owners and other guests...), big relax area, nice outdoor inner courtyard. Just a stonethrow away from the bus stop and on the other side of the road is the shop of...

While suffering a last minute accomadation crisis in Taupo, due to a previous place dicking us around, Roger and Sue saved our bacon. We are a family with an infant daughter and having explained our situation to Roger over the phone, he quickly made a plan for us to have a twin room, which he explained we could put the...

This is the best backpackers lodge I have ever stayed at. It's a family run operation that is the perfect place to hang your hat and take off your shoes. Excellent WiFi, nice open kitchen, very clean & cozy rooms. Outdoor courtyard is lovely, with nice hammocks for resting on a sunny afternoon with shade & sun. Very safe and...
