We stayed here one night on the way to Dunedin after seeing Nugget Lodge advertised in a travel brochure. What a find, wished we could have stayed longer!! Pauline and Willy were most hospitable and couldn't do enough for us. The place was spotless with all the amenities you could wish for, even binoculars to view the seals and penguins...

The location of this property is outstanding - steps from a stunning beach. The Sealion unit (lower room) has NO view unless you step outside onto the terrace (often chilly). This property is run down, not well maintained and WAY too pricey for the value delivered. Despite the great location, the room is shabbily furnished and bathroom old and slippery....

We counted ourselves as being very lucky to be able to stay here. Met by the owners Pauline and Willie on arrival, who were very friendly and helpful. Nugget Lodge has two rooms, with the Sealion unit below the Lighthouse unit up the stairs, which is where we stayed. The Catlins really turned on the great weather which gave us...

If you want right on the beach then this place has it all. The unit is small but very well laid out, the bed room area is seperated from the loung by the two big couches, full kitchen means you can stay in on a winters night and look down on the beutifull view of the beach while you cook...

We stayed for 2 nights in the Sea Lion Unit which is located on the ground floor. The Lighthouse Unit is above and is the preferable unit as you can hear the people moving about upstairs if you are in the ground floor unit. We were very lucky as the people above us were very quiet. The Unit is lovely,...

What a lovely place to stay! My friend and I took the two rooms and each was lovely. The ground floor unit is spacious, with a separate bedroom and lovely garden area right out the door. The upper unit (the Lighthouse room) is studio-style and does have the most fantastic views. Pauline prepared homemade bread, granola, fruit and provides eggs,...

What a place! Wonderful setting, hosts and room. Sealion unit. Right on top of the beach. One of our best stops and we will come back. A great base for exploring the most beautiful parts of the Catlins.

This was simply a glorious place to be. We only had two nights here but would have happily stayed a lot longer. The views from the Lighthouse unit balcony were fantastic. The beach in front was deserted although the swimming was excellent - in fact practically the only other soul on the beach was a huge bull sealion who was...

We stayed for one night in the Lighthouse Room, and it was just lovely. It is right on top of the beach, and the views are gorgeous. The room is pretty basic, but it is clean and exactly as advertised. We enjoyed being so close to Nugget Point so we could spend time there after the other tourists had left....

The Lighthouse room is perched virtually on top of the beach with great views from room and generous sized deck. The room is fairly basic inside, but is comfortable and has everything you need. For the photogarpher who wants to photograph the lighthouse at sunrise/sunset accomodation is a good choice & Nugget Point is a good base to explore the...
