The location and the views from the rooms is fantastic. Its a bit away from the small Grefanau Bavarian town, but one can walk around the town and enjoy some breathtaking landscapes. The hot outdoor tub on a cold rainy day was a contrast and simply loved the experience. The staff were so friendly, especially the lady who is the...

I was staying there for one night, because i got a great Discount on a fair in munich. When I arrived I realized, that the Hotel was not very busy because there was no snow. Only a few guests. So it was very quite in the Hotel and the Restaurant. I also enjoyed the Sauna and spa area - after...

I’d worked at the Sonnenhof hotel when it belonged to Steigenberger and was a bit worried about going back after a very long absence, I’d seen what had happened to the ex-Steigenberger hotel in Freudenstadt in the Black Forest. So how does the Arcadia Sonnenhof compare to the Steigenberger version? To be fair it shouldn’t. The Arcadia Hotel Sonnenhof appears...

I stayed here for about 5 days on a recent business trip. I have been to Grafenau a few times but this is the first time I have stayed at this particular hotel. I would rate the hotel average to good. Whilst it had all the amenities the staff were a bit hit and miss. Some were excellent and some...

This is a typical family hotel. Guests are either families with young children or seniors. It is close to the Bayerische Wald National Park and a good base to enjoy the national park. The hotel is located on a hill, which means that the walk from the town centre of Grafenau is quite uphill and takes about 15 minutes. Our...

As mentioned, there is a an air of sedateness but also of spaciousness, both inside and out. As well as the usual bar and restaurant, there is also a leisure centre and mini golf (our German host thought the term "crazy golf" amazing) and a nice playground. The room was very nice with a balcony looking out over the order...

My husband and I stayed three nights to explore the Bavarian woods. We liked the hotel, even though it had a somewhat 'sedate' feel to it (lots of silver haired guests, very corny singer in the bar in the evening). The room was comfortable and clean with a good bed and bathroom. The location was quiet and suited our purpose,...
