It takes quite a bit of effort to get all the way out here to Cape St. George. If you're debating whether or not you should make this trip, there is absolutely no better way to stay than at the Inn on the Cape. Peter was so nice in our email exchange, and even nicer in person. We had the room on the top right corner, and it was just perfect for the two of us to stay two nights. I wish it could have been longer. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the two chonk kitties who live here, and the little energetic doggie. The room was just beautiful, with hardwood floors, a comfortable bed, and a spectacular view from the deck. This overlooks the gorgeous waters of Bay St. George. If you're lucky at the right time of the year, you may get to see a whale out there. The hosts at the Inn provide a sheet of paper for each morning of your stay with numerous breakfast options, usually either the egg breakfast with a meat or the waffle breakfast with fresh whipped cream and fruit. We did one of those one day, and the other the next day. Both breakfasts were a fantastic way to start the day. Bottle du Cap park is just down the road from the Inn, where you can either watch a beautiful sunset or do the Breadcrumb Trail and hike up the cliffside slopes into moraine forests. The views out there are just jaw-dropping. We were given good tips on where to eat in the area, because there isn't much to choose from for lunch and dinner. Inn at the Cape does also have laundry facilities if you need to clean some clothes during your trip. Out of our entire trip of 10 nights on the west coast of Newfoundland, this was probably our favorite place to stay. The location is just so relaxing, and the views are unbeatable. Great place to relax and wind down, or use as a home base for exploring the whole peninsula.

Not many places available in this area, so this fit the bill for us. It’s a 2 story Inn in the middle of nowhere! The bedding is a bit tired, but it was clean and spacious. There was a covered porch right outside our door with a view of the ocean. Very nice! Our hosts are an older couple who take great pride in their Inn - very nice to chat with. Breakfast was served on time and was plentiful, in a dining room with 3 walls of windows, again with view of the ocean.

Our room (Room 7) was spacious with two queen beds, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV, access to an outdoor patio and a large shared living room. Room 7 is on the main floor. It has a view of the ocean.
For the best view of the ocean, choose a room on the second floor. There is a large deck on the second floor. We had access to it via the stairs.
The breakfast area is spacious. And the hot breakfast is quite good. You have a choice of three hot breakfasts.
There is plenty of art work and books throughout the Inn.

So disappointed! I had heard so much about this place that I drove out of the way just to stay there. The room had 3 double beds with crappy pillows, old towels, glue stained tub enclosure. I felt like I was in university student housing. 😕

A very nice inn. The owners are very friendly, helpful, and suggested places to tour in the area. The breakfast was excellent, made to order and home made. A little "off the beaten path" but worth the drive for the area scenery. We would definitely stay there again if we visit that area again.

All I can say is WOW. I decided to take a “Staycation” and visit some parts of the island that I haven’t been before. And I decided to book up my grandmother along the way. Have never been to the Port au Port before so that was top of the list. We stayed for one night at this location and we were not disappointed. The room was huge, and had absolutely EVERYTHING that you could ever ask for, plus a 5 star ocean view with a deck. Breakfast came with the stay, and it was great. Service and hospitality was amazing. We even got some Lovin from the owners amazing pets. The cat and dog are absolutely beautiful. We were thinking of a plan to take the dog with us! Also a shoutout to the cook who made the strawberry rhubarb muffins (I think that was the flavour). The best muffins I have ever had. My Nan wanted to turn around and get some more. Thanks again!! Highly recommend.

Exactly what you'd want in Nfld. Huge covered deck overlooking the water with the occasional whale spouting past. There is a shorefront trail you access just down the highway towards the town (look for the grassy ATV trail) that goes all way to the main harbour and has historical information.

Booked a room here for our first night in Newfoundland. Lovely drive out to the Port au Port Peninsula. We were able to take in some sites but it got foggy in the evening and lasted through the following morning. Peter was a very engaging host on check in and the following morning at the lovely hot breakfast. Balcony overlooking the ocean but the view was hampered due to the fog. Our only negative was the fairly narrow stairs leading to our room. All in all a lovely place to stay.

My wife and I returned last month for a second visit to the "Inn At The Cape". The Inn, which opened for its' first full season in 2005, consists of 14 rooms on two levels and is perched on a cliff 100 feet above the ocean where whales frequently come to feed. It is located at the western end of the Port au Port peninsula. The rooms, which are very spacious, have wooden floors with panelled walls and pine mouldings. Most rooms lead to a balcony overlooking the ocean. The furnishings are luxurious and tasteful. Ours had a queen bed. Most rooms have satellite TV.
On the first floor there is a large selection of books & magazines dealing with Newfoundland history, culture, etc. Also for use of the guests on the second floor are a telescope and several binoculars.
Now, for the most amazing feature! Last year when we arrived the owner, Mr. Fenwick, greeted us and showed us to our room. He mentioned that they serve a "light supper" every evening at 6:30. (I learned he was being facetious). We went assuming there would be some salad and cold cuts. Instead we found a buffet consisting of soup, two types of roast beef (ginger flavor & plain), BBQ chicken, salmon, cod, lasagna, and green salad. Dessert consisted of fresh fruit & various berry pies. All home made. Additionally there was a choice of red or white wine.
Breakfast the next morning was equally as lavish.
The price of a room for two people, including the delicious breakfast and supper, was CAD $79.00!
It seems that word of the "Inn" has spread as on both visits they were 90-100% full. I would certainly advise booking in advance.

We stayed at the Inn at the Cape for two nights and enjoyed meeting the owners, Peter & Jenny, and their son, Michael, who did the cooking this summer. We found them to be interesting, knowledgeable of the area, and generous with their time. They don't fuss over their guests but are very happy to assist when asked. Their Inn is filled with books, paintings, and games for a rainy day. It has a very homey, comfortable feel. The various dishes prepared were creative and flavourful. This was our fourth vacation in Newfoundland and we felt the Inn at the Cape offered the best overall value of all we have experienced.
