This is a riverside hotel with a lounge bar and steakhouse restaurant - great place to have a meeting and the food is fine - menu could do with a bit more variety but there is no excuse for the filthy outdoor seating area - tatty seating and covered in bird droppings (see picture) all over the patio and tables...

check in was a complete and utter pain, took for ever with only two on front of house, one being on the phone so not dealing with customers. Room was cold and unfortunately there was a dog in the room next door which the owner tried their best to keep quiet. Ate out in the evening so couldn't comment on...

The rooms we were offered were in a run down state the taps would not turn off so hot water was running all the time. The radiator in the bathroom would not turn off so the windows had to be open all the time, so the noise from the motorway was heard all night. Not a good place to get...

My friends were staying here for a wedding reception and I was able to get changed in the room with them to get ready for reception too. It was very easy to find the hotel and drive into and very close to Brockholes where the wedding reception was. Excellent access to and from the motorway and there's a services next...

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and fairly regularly. Each time there have been niggles but there isn't a huge choice in the area and the beds are very comfortable. Over the last few weeks however, things have deteriorated and this stay was the last straw. I checked in, which in itself is tortuous as it takes a...

We booked in for 3 nights and didn't even stay for one!! We have never seen such a dirty dusty room! The view from the window was of air conditioning units, although our room didn't have air conditioning! The curtains were falling of the rails, the bedside lamp was falling over and couldn't be stood upright and there was dust...

stayed one night on way to wedding room was generally very nice and clean with a few minor niggles - fan in bathroom was noisy but couldn't be heard in bedroom and towel heater was not working - we had food in the restaurant and it was OK but a bit expensive as were the drinks but the service was...

Macdonald hotels generally have a good name and brand reputation, so I was expecting good service and quality accommodation. I have to say, I did not find my stay to be worth the price paid whilst staying for one night for a friends wedding (even £50 for this place would have seemed steep). Arrived and was checked in quickly and...

We stayed here overnight following a wedding nearby. Our room was big, but was ready for a refurbish. Perfectly clean so no complaints there. Breakfast however was poor. Only continental breakfast was in with the room rate and the items on the cooked menu were overpriced - £5 for an omelette and £4 for porridge. I ordered poached eggs on...
