Very helpful and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean pub and accommodation. Our room was small but had everything that we needed The ladies behind the bar allowed us to park our motorcycle in the beer garden, which was a bonus! Great evening meals. Lovely breakfast at Ty Morgan’s.

We stayed at the Crown at the end of August this year with our dog and picked the hotel because it was central dog friendly, and the rooms looked nice and large. On booking in we were shown out to the back to a tiny cramped room up an outside flight of steps with a small double bed and barely room for the dog to sleep by the side of it. The Hotel/pub WiFi didn't stretch to our room either so there was no connection although advertised. We were there for only the one night and ate at the Crown that night . I have to say the meal and service wasn't so bad and we weren't kept waiting so I'm not complaining about that at all. The next morning we were told that the sister pub across the road was the place to go for our totally separate breakfast. However this was locked up and closed so we went back and were told by a lady in the Crown that we should then go to Ty Morgans Cafe. On walking through the door we were turned away because of our dog. We tried two more breakfast establishments in Rhayader and were turned away again because of the danger of our dog carrying Covid !!!!!! I cannot recommend this establishment or Rhayader as a whole for being dog friendly. I felt that we were put in a dingy room at the back overlooking the kitchens simply because of our dog. Totally unacceptable please don't advertise your hotel as dog friendly if you then treat people as lepers. Luckily the Elan Valley visitor centre were very welcoming and we had a superb breakfast there great place.

Family meal with the dog and we eat in the function room which was nicely laid out and comfortable. We eat here 2 nights one planned and one as we moved on from the sister pub across the road. one evening they were very busy but food arrived promptly and was excellent. Well cooked and lots of empty plates. Second night it was OK not as good as the previous night, maybe the head chef had the night off? Staff were excellent and attentive. Would happily return.

Food was so good we came back here 3 times this week, steak and lambs shanks definitely the stars of the week but chilli and burger also really good. Refreshing to see clearly marked gluten free options on the menu (not difficult but surprising how many places don’t bother)

We hired a room for a reception after a funeral. The hotel did food for 30 people, the food was beautifully presented, fresh and very nice. The staff were friendly and considerate, we could not have asked for more.
