We were lucky enough to find Strand House and to stay the night for my birthday. We had a fabulous afternoon tea and a glass of fizz on our balcony in the Battle Hill Suite overlooking the meadows on arrival. Great food and hospitality, and a beautiful house and garden with lots of character. Lovely canalside walk from the door...

Returned to the Strand house after almost 30 years. New owners but still a wonderful place to stay. Marys team provided excellent food and Hugh was the ideal host. Thinking of staying? You will not be disappointed.

As an American travelling in the UK this is the ultimate bit of England; charming and picturesque. It was managed by two very passionate people who enjoy ensuring everything is perfect...especially the food. on a side note and this is not a negative as a 700 year old home is smaller than your average British and a lot smaller compared...

I got married at the Strand House this month, and if I had to sum up the experience I could only say Wow! Mary and Hugh, the owners, made the day simply amazing. They helped select the menu using an almost random list of our desires turning it into a delicious feast. Assistance was also given in decorating the house...

I would heartily recommend Stand House to anyone as an outstanding B & B. The rooms (thoughtful), beds (really comfortable), toiletries (really good quality), breakfast (so much choice), service (beyond the call of duty- I even got a lone of pyjamas as I had forgotten to pack mine!) FIVE STARS ALL ROUND. Thank you so much for hosting my brother...

Had no complaints whatsoever with the B&B. The only complaint I had was the Town itself, the New Inn up the Road in Winchelsea could learn a thing or two about Customer service from the couple who run the Strand as they ignored both of us when we enquired about booking a table. Also it became apparent that most Restaurants...

We have stayed several times at the Strand House, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. We have stayed in the old and new rooms each have their own quirks and foibles, however we refer the new Rye Bat Cottage, and the last 2 times stayed in the Battle Hill Suite, with great views over towards Winchelsea beach ( last...

Great location, great views, great room, great food! Great for doggies too! We stayed in the Hastings cottage room which had patio doors and great views to open countryside. The food was amazing, we had breakfast and dinner. Great location for Rye and the surround area. Mary & Hugh couldn't do enough for us.
