My experience at Hotel Cocolia in Mazunte was wonderful. 🌿✨ The food is delicious and the organic atmosphere really connects you with nature. Just 15 minutes walk from the center, you can enjoy activities, shops, restaurants and the beach without losing the tranquility that the hotel offers. The rooms have a spectacular sea view, which makes every moment special. In addition, the service is totally personalized, and recently renovated their pool area with a semi-Olympic and a new restaurant of signature cuisine that is simply spectacular. It is the perfect place to visit as a couple and discover all that Mazunte has to offer. Highly recommended!

We loved the place and the concept so much that we extended our stay here. Cocolia is a magical boutique hotel with bungalows in the jungle. It's very private nature oasis, a great getaway from Mazunte town. The terrain is very well maintained, clean, but at the same time there is much respect for the nature.
We got the room no 10 (ocean delux room) and the view, as well as the sound of the ocean, was unbelievable. The room is specious and has beautiful design. Taking shower with the view of the Marmejita beach was unreal. There is a pool to relax and the town is 25 min up and down walk, but is was fine for us get some sport after being lazy all day :) also, you can go directly to playa Marmejita (10 min walk), which is the most beautiful pristine beach in the area in our opinion.
The restaurant is serving tasty food and all the staff are very hardworking and attentive, big bravo to Isidro, the manager, who is an amazing host. A highlight of our trip! Thank you Cocolia family.

Hard to believe if you haven't experienced in yourself. This place is just magical. It simply blew us away how lofty and airy the room was, fully opening up to the best ocean view I have ever had. We were greeted by dozens of whales seen right from our balcony (do bring binoculars). Inside and outside melt into each other in this place, connecting us with the nature around us in a simply, yet luxurious way.
Everything is high quality, from the bathroom to the bed, and they certainly had a great interior designer and architect! Nothing is superfluous and the whole room is really well thought through, all the way to having plugs and bedside shelves INSIDE your mosquito net.
The only sounds were the waves crashing onto the beach below, some geckos, and a symphony of crickets and cicadas. Just beautiful.
And then: two pool areas, one more secluded, one more open both with a great eye for color and detail. There is even a 25-meter pool for real swimming!
We stayed for 10 days and that was too short. You will never want to leave again.

The Rooms/Bungalows are wonderful, and well designed in every detail.

You wake up to a fantastic view of the surrounding nature and can do bird watching from bed. Super nice place to escape from the daily routine.
The manager is really caring and gives good recommendations too.

This part was exactly what I was looking for.

Sadly, the place is badly maintained. A lot of stuff is just badly repaired or not at all. The staff is disinterested and unmotivated.

Towels and sheets didn’t get exchanged until we asked for it 5 days in, and we ran out of toilet paper and drinking water several times. We also didn’t have hot water the first few days.

The worst part is the restaurant though. Some of the food was not edible, the dishes several times arrived with missing parts from the menu. And this for way higher prices than what you pay at the local restaurants. The hotel claims the breakfast is included but you just get a tiny bowl of fruit and yogurt, with super dry bread on the side (we even had to ask for this every time despite it supposedly being a part of the menu).

Good rooms, bad service and food. Overpriced.

Seems like there was a good concept originally, and now just runs for profit.

Hi Fabian, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed staying in one of our beautiful bungalows, surrounded by nature, and that our manager was helpful during your stay. As you have appreciate it, the hotel is located in the middle of nature, which means that sometimes the forces of nature affect the daily operation. Apologies if this was your case. Regarding the hot water, that was fixed on the first day you arrived. In fact you always had hot water in the room, but we turned up the boiler so it was hotter. As we informed you, you had extra toilet paper in the room, which you acknowledged once we showed you where it was. As per the towels, they where changed after 3 days, which is our policy. We do include a small breakfast in the room booking, and we always inform our guests of what it consists of. Sorry if it wasn't what you were expecting. Regarding the staff, thank you for pointing this out, we are making changes in this area as we would like to give the best experience to our guests. We hope you can visit us again sometime in the future! Best regards

Simply the most incredible place I've ever stayed in.

Beautifully situated in nature.
Our room had a sliding door that opened up to a breathtaking view of the jungle and the ocean.

At night, you could hear the waves crashing on the beach and the sounds of birds chirping.

The beach was just an 8-minute walk away, and Punta Cometa is also very close by.

The restaurant food was excellent, but what we appreciated the most was the service and attention from the entire staff at Cocolia.

Amazingggg people with the best attitude, always willing to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Simply a dream come true.
Unmissable.

Good pictures do not make good hotels : Cocolia might be an acceptable place to feed up your instagram but no serious hospitality should be expected from this place. Manager on duty is as friendly as an ATM, help and services are inexisting, wifi and hotwater are random...Top of the pop : what they call a continental breakfast is in fact a micro portion of fruits with ONE slice of bread from supermarket (no butter, no jam) ; and what they describe "secluded" must be translated "far away from everyting, 40 minutes walk from the beach and the village at the end of an unbearable bumpy road" (car damages guaranteed). Much better to stay in an unpretentious local cabana.

Hi P6991EQpascalp, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very sorry you did not enjoyed your stay with. Our hotel is definitely not for every one. The isolated and secluded location make this place unique, giving our guests the chance to enjoy and be in contact with nature, lay back and relax. We are very sorry if you did not manage to achieve that. Best regards, Cocolia Family

We absolutely loved our stay at the Cocolia Hotel in Mazunte. There isn't much left in Mexico you could consider off-the-beaten-path, but this place comes close. The road up to Cocolia is pretty rough, but once you're there it's instant love. Chic, minimalist casitas. Each one totally private & open to stunning views. The casitas are efficient and feel cosy, even though one entire wall opens up to forest and views. No AC, which amazingly it doesn't even need. The design takes advantage of lovely cross breezes, so a fan is all you need. If you're looking for a place to escape & decompress, this might be it....

I am well travelled, but this place blew us away big time. One of the most charming hotels I've ever seen. Immersed in nature and with a wonderful sea view.
The best part is the staff and particularly Isidro, whose kindness and generosity goes way beyond his professional duty. He is a truly marvellous host. Don't hesitate a moment!

A magnificent place in the middle of the jungle. Quiet and perfect for a peaceful retreat with amazing ocean and hillside views. Cocolia has everything you need for a slow morning and relaxing night. The town, playa escondida and playa mermejita are about a 15-20min walk (depending on the pace).

In Mazunte its the place to stay. Super friendly and helpful stuff, amazing location, excellent service and top clean rooms.
You have an amazing view, really good restaurant with wide choices. They have a Palapa (roof covered yoga area too. I hope they start regular yoga classes soon. (when you arrive first time by car: go into Mazunte center, than turn right toward to the beach -at the first paved road you find after the Pharmachy-than turn right right after Kometa caffe shop. You will arrive to the cemetery, where you take a right...from here you follow the signs of the Hotel Cocolia)
