We got a day pass to El Copal because we heard that they have a great pool. You pay per person for a day pass but you use that money as a credit for food and drinks for the duration. I was a little hesitant at first, thinking it was a little pricey, but it was an absolutely blissful day, the food was good, the owner was charming and helpful, and the surroundings couldnā€™t be beat. We spent the day reading and paddling around in the gorgeous pool with an unbelievable view. We stayed until sunset, watching the sky turn shades of pink as the sun set over the ocean.
We will surely come back on our next visit to Mazunte.
There are about 10 guest rooms, Which look very inviting and which we hope to take advantage of next time weā€™re here.

The excellent service begins with the attention that if you want them to pick you up at the airport, they will order a taxi to get there :)
The place is super original and has a spectacular view. Everything clean and comfortable (our cabin had a hammock on the terrace, the best). It has a restaurant, excellent seasoning, everything delicious! It also takes place on the beach with lounge chairs where the wind blows so you don't die from the heat, they give you food service all the way to the beach! Thanks Rosy!
We would go again without thinking, highly recommended, we had an incredible time! Thank you Eberardo, Ely, Manuel, Chef ;), Pacheco, Rosy and JosƩ and the entire Copal team :)
PS The sunsets are unique! and with a delicious drink from the bar what better!

We had the most extraordinary time! The owner Eberardo was so hospitable, and his staff are the most professional that weā€™ve experienced in the region. We gladly left healthy tips contrary to other reviews here. The food is amazing, not overpriced. Service really wonderful, and the infinity pool and the sunset on the infinity pool is unequaled. Very much worth the price to spend an afternoon/early evening here. Oh and super clean and tasty generous cocktails

This place was not at all what I expected to see. The staff was absolutely lovely and the ocean view from the restaurant is amazing. Other than that, the rooms were very simple and the windows are tiny, I ended up leaving and didn't stay a single night, however; i was charged a deposit and another night which is really upsetting. The location is hard to get to so I had to take a cab only to be disappointed by the place and turn around and order another cab into the city.

This is hands down, the worst place Iā€™ve ever stayed. Iā€™m not sure who these people are who are providing the positive reviews unless they are either compensated or friends/family of the owners. This is under no circumstances a ā€œFour Starā€ resort as Iā€™ve seen it indicated on other sites. Itā€™s at best, a basic campground with similar amenities to what you would expect at an average KOA campground in the US. But noisier. With less service and cleanliness.

Restaurant service is slow and the menu is really bizarre. The only redeeming characteristic is itā€™s location next to the beach. However, thatā€™s not sufficient to warrant a stay. Itā€™s true that accommodation options are limited in Mazunte but there are definitely superior options - including every other propriety directly adjacent El Copal. If you decide to stay after reading this, you only have yourself to blame.

I went for a drink and snack here. My bill was 115 however they didnā€™t have change for a 500 note, at this point they called the owner who was drinking there and said it was 350 min spend. It said on the board at the bottom of the steps but had been rubbed off on the board outside the restaurant and wasnā€™t mentioned when I arrived so I thought the first sign was old. My problem isnā€™t really with the money however, the owner was so rude and nasty to me I cried when I got back to my hotel. So far everyone in Mexico has been lovely and itā€™s been a joy to come here and experience such a beautiful place, but this was a really really awful experience.

We were treated very rudely by the owner, demanding more tips. Despite the fact that we spent a lot of money there and were generous with the tips. The view was nice, but nothing else good to say about this place. Would never come back!

Beautiful place! The owner and staff are warm professional and efficient. The food and drinks are wonderful and the infinity pool overlooking the ocean is a gem. Highly recommended, even if just for a sunset swim and supper.

Wonderful view, which alone would deserve a visit! Cocktails are great, especially those with mezcal, and the vibe is engaging. Food is also good, both main dishes and starters. This is one of the best restaurants in Mazunte. Definitely recommended.

We stayed at el copal for three nights. We came by car and we really had to search where it was. We came by car, and it was a real challenge to get there, the last bit of the road to el copal is not good for your car, with great holes and bumps on the 'road'. We were checked in by a man who didn't speak english, and wasn't really helpfull. I made a reservation in advance and i was a bit dissapointed when we came to our room, it was not quite as i expected by looking at the pictures on the internet. El copal is a bit isolated from mazunte, you have to walk quite a bit to go mazunte, restaurants etc. We had a really nice view, and there was a outdoor shower with sea view wich we reaaly enjoyed. There is a beach were you can lie down, there are a few beds especially for el copal residents, but the water is really wild, so it's not really inviting to go swimming. We had breakfests at el copal, wich was ok, and we twice had dinner. Was ok too. Maybe this place is not for me, my boyfriend didn't experience it the same way as i did. So check the website before you go here, so you won't be dissapointed!
