Awen Lodge is set in 25 acres of farmland adjoining Mt Grey and Ashley Forest in the foothills of the Southern Alps. We offer a delicious, full cooked breakfast and always have gluten free and dairy free options available. Situated just 45 minutes north of Christchurch airport we are also ideally placed for day trips to the thermal pools at Hanmer Springs. Sample the award winning wines of the Waipara Valley vineyards and the culinary delights of Amberley’s restaurants, all of which are about a 15 minute drive away.

I didn't expect such a great place just in the middle of nowhere! I was treated like a dear friend from the very start: I was offered the upgrade to the very comfortable and spacious king room, and invited to have a chat which continued the next morning at the breakfast table.

Having you stay with us was a real pleasure, Gabriela. We enjoyed your company, bubbly personality and excellent conversation. You were so easy to please that we wish you could have stayed longer. We always try to give our guests a free upgrade if one is available, so we are glad that you enjoyed the larger room. Thank you for your kind feedback and for letting us know that you arrived home safely - it snowed here the day after you left :)

Lovely home, friendly and knowledgeable hosts, brilliant cooked breakfast. Don't be put off by the short stretch of gravel road because it's only 15 mins through beautiful North Canterbury landscape to a top rate quality accommodation. Looking forward to seeing Karen and Roger

Thank you Tania. It was a real shame that you had an appointment to keep as I felt we had so much in common and could have chatted until Doomsday. I hope you give J.K. Rowling a run for her money and look forward to reading your books.

"B&B isn't handy to cafes so either have your dinner beforehand or take something cold (salads and meats) with you."
"Lovely morning views of Mt Grey from our twin room."
"It is a supremely unique spot with mountains, forestry, farmland, unimpeded views, warmth, welcome and comfort."
"We stayed in the Queen room which was good and had access to our own bathroom and loo across the corridor - the ensuite King room upstairs is larger with a sitting area"
"I would recommend to stay in the King Room, but the Queen Room is great too."
