We had driven from Mount Cook and were weary but the minute we arrived we were enveloped by the country charm of a superb Lodge. The homestead accommodation was excellent, the staff were friendly and obviously loved what the did ....and where they lived and worked....and surrounded by all this it was impossible not to relax. Excellent food and we...

This wonderful lodge remotely located near Arthurs Pass and surrounded by farms and national lands is well worth the price. The property exudes very casual elegance. The rooms, there are around 15, are large and well designed. The staff to guest ratio is almost one to one and most importantly they are engaged, interested and interesting adding to the overall casual...

We spent two nights here and what a great time! Tom and his team will attempt to meet your every need and plan whatever you desire (trek. kayak, horseback ride, massage, skeet shooting, and fly fishing). It is a spectacular setting - not quite to Blanket Bay's views - but what makes this special is the people. You feel at...

We chose Grasmere Lodge to stay during a month long tour of NZ and also as a memorable place to celebrate my husbands birthday! It certainly lived up to expectations and we had the most wonderful time! Tom and his team were excellent hosts and they couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was memorable and fun. We were upgraded...

Planning my next trip to NZ reminded me that I never did reviews for my last one. I had previously avoided Grasmere because neither of us fish, and I’d heard it was a fly-fishing paradise. My loss, I had no idea what I’d been missing! While I’m sure the fishing is great, there is more than enough to keep anyone...

My wife and I stayed at the beautiful Grasmere lodge in March 2013 and we loved it. The hosts are very friendly and have that wonderful ability to know when to leave someone to themselves and when to offer assistance. We loved the scenery, and the walks & the horse riding is exceptional. The food is first class and we...

Our only regret was spending just one night here. As some of the other reviewers have noted, this is how a hotel should be run. We decided to spend Christmas Eve in Arthur's pass in the hope that it would be a memorable experience and we were not disappointed. We were given a tour of the property when we arrived,...

This is how hotels should be run. It's centred on the extended main house of a working sheep station in an area, as the name implies, like the UK's Lake District. Tom and the team upgraded us from a basic room to the owners's house where we were accommodated in the most luxurious surroundings with breathtaking views, particularly from the...

If you haven't noticed, this isn't a cheap deal, but if you want to splurge anywhere in New Zealand, this would be the spot. We took the train from Christchurch which was a joy in itself and off loaded at Cass. Cass is a "town" near the Lodge that has one full time resident and a train station that looks...

We really enjoyed ourselves at Grasmere. The accommodations were beautiful and the hills and mountains that you overlook with the cows and sheep are just astounding. Everyone makes you feel right at home and any special requests were handled with ease. You couldn't get much better. It was a perfect place to relax, do some horseback riding, hike, and take...
