I called through 09/05 to check availability at this YHA for this week. I had explained that we were coming up from Chch to do some tramping and this was weather dependant so asked what the availability was like. The person I spoke to (I think was Bob) was very argumentative from the get go on the phone. He was...

We get requests like this all the time. There is little point in coming to Arthur’s Pass if you know the weather is going to be bad and customers call in advance to find out what their accommodation options are, if any. This customer was focussed on our least expensive option and I advised her repeatedly that the room already...

Reception located on highway, cottages are just nearby. Best stay in New Zealand we had. Very beautiful view. Cottages are so well maintained with all the amenities and nice quaint furniture and fireplace.

We stayed for 1 night at the Mountain House YHA in one of their cottages. It was a clean, spacious house with a shared kitchen and wc/shower facilities. The cottage has 4 bedrooms so you get to meet other people from all warps of life. The bed was comfy and we had a good nights sleep. It is good value...

We stayed just a night during the week end and it was really wonderful! We loved the staff and our little but perfect room! Facilities were cleaned! We enjoyed looking outside in the middle of the night and see just ice that was covering everything! Bed really relaxing!

We stayed for one night, in one of the en-suite rooms out the back of the cottages. What a cute, well furnished room. Great decor with interesting feature furniture. The room was warm and clean, only downside was the wifi doesn't reach that far but it was quite refreshing being technology-free, reading and listening to the thunderstorm after an afternoon...

This was a decent, clean place to stay for those on a budget staying in Arthur's Pass. We stayed in a house with 4 bedrooms and a common area and kitchen. There is a nice wood-burning fireplace in the common area which gives a nice ambiance. The place was clean and there are enough appliances to cook what you need...

I've stayed at the Mountain House numerous times over the years and it never fails to deliver. Great location, well appointed rooms and an excellent kitchen that's always clean and tidy. The perfect stopover or weekend base for exploring Arthur's Pass.

We stayed at the Mountain House for one night in early January 2016 and were pleasantly surprised. We had never stayed at a hostel before, however, we made our reservations late and this was all that was available. We arrived late in the day and there was a note on the door with directions to a phone card and telling...

We're actually not a fan of YHA type accomodation. The thought of sharing a bathroom with a bunch of early 20s & boy! How noisy they always are. But we have no choice as everything are fully booked at Arthur Pass & we really want to do the Avalance Track (it is an awesome track btw). We're staying at double...

We stayed for one night in one of the motel units on the opposite side of the road to where the main lodge is. Large comfortable room, good bathroom. Clean. The best thing about the place was the fast and free unlimited wifi which was great after a week of travelling in the South Island where most places offer limited...
