I arrived from a TranzAlpine ride to meet complete silence at YHA Mountain House. After spending about 15 minutes saying hello to the doors and windows all through inside the building, I just left my suitcase and backpack behind the front desk with a note on the table, because I wasn't going to forsake the blue sky -- which doesn't...

Thanks for the review! Actually getting a 3 out of 5 was quite a good score considering you didn't have a great stay. Most of your points are fair enough. Sometimes there are just perfect storms of disaster It was me who was working and I remember that day quite clearly. In the morning I was cleaning in another building...

Nice clean hostel, good place to stay during winter time, wouldn't need any more than this. Only couldn't find the hostel on hostelworld world or book it from another YHA strangely. Ah yes Bob is a great guy thanks for the help! Would stay again any time.

Very nice and clean room & shared areas. The kitchen area was basically spotless. The night was quiet. Room and bathroom were nothing flash but convenient. There was a wee wait at arrival until the owner showed up to give us the key & it was pretty cold to wait outside but other than that no issues at all.

Remember those winter night cozy movies where the actors snuggle by the fireplace eating warm foods and drink a cup hot chocolate. Reminiscent that night reminds me of those movies. We checked in Mountain House YHA (Arthurs Pass) at dusk after a detour from Punakaiki. It was already dark when we checked in, and as usual, for the past week...

Homey, comfortable, and clean hostel. Comfortable beds, nice and helpful staff, and clean bathrooms! Laundry is cheap and people are friendly. Could do with a tv room for rainy days. Kitchen is big and clean with a nice dining room. Hallway and bathroom space is a little cramped but it wasn't too busy when I was there.

My friend and I stayed one night here. It was her second time staying. I thought the place was great. The rooms were tidy and modern, the bathrooms clean with good shower pressure and the kitchen spacious and clean. I found Mountain House to be of excellent standard for a backpackers.

We were pretty impressed with this place! It's very well kept and clean. Showers were warm! We stayed for 2 nights and the different people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. Very convenient with the store next door and the visitor centre is only 100-200m away so very easy to find out more about Arthur's pass. The...

I stayed in one of their cottages the first time I was there and it was lovely and warm. Great facilities and friendly service. The second I went back, I had a camper van and rental a powered site. The shared facilities ie kitchen - well equipped, bathroom/toilets are clean. The only critique is for the location of the powered...

We stayed in Arthur's Pass for one night. Free wifi. Lovely room. Very welcoming. Close to a pub. We enjoyed our stay and relaxing in the warm room! The arthurs pass general store is busy in the mornings but closes at 5pm so be sure to stock up before you roll into town.

I was here for one night on my way west. I arrived to find a sign on the door telling me to use the payphone across the road to call someone to come and open up to let me check in, which was a bit odd - and a tiny bit annoying because it was pouring with rain and pretty...
