We only ate in the restaurant didn't stay but highly recommend food. Don't let the surroundings put you off (very dated and unwelcoming) the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent - fresh, delicious and great value

Went here twice while staying in Cheviot over Christmas. The meals were superb - amazing sizes, and really reasonably priced. People were nice too. Fully recommend for all - they even had a separate room for kiddies to play in as well as a kids menu

Decided to drive from Christchurch to Cheviot for lunch. Chose the Cheviot Trust Hotel. Staff very friendly. Our pub meal of steak, eggs and chips was very tasty. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. The restaurant and toilet facilities were very clean. A great place to stop off for a meal and a beer.

the room I was give had no chair, the heater ran intermittently as though it had a loose wire, the television had no signal. I was given another room by the duty manager, so had to pack up my belongings which I dropped, the duty manager watched as tried to pick things up. She did turn on the heater which...

We had dinner here which turned out to be an excellent meal with plenty (read 6) different varieties of fresh vegetables. The meals were great value and large servings for the price we paid. The staff were friendly and service was very good.

Ordered a starter along with my main recently. Took 40 minutes to present the food, and when they did, they served the starter with the main! Please serve a starter as just that. Doesn't take 40 minutes to make garlic bread I'm afraid. Aside from that, the food is pretty good, although the bar staff need to be a little...

The grumpy bar man is still here. Wow wouldn't bother him too much . The room was clean but no bedside lamps, toilet constantly gushed water and tatty outside furniture with weeds overflowing . It was alright for 1 night but didn't warrant $130 .

Stopped in on our way down to Queenstown. Cheap, cheerful and clean. With a two bedroom unit, dinner and drinks for three it came to under NZ$200 so can't complain about that! Meals were burgers and chips. Staff friendly and helpful.

We were headed for Picton and as it was getting late needed a place to stay. This was on the main highway and late at night couldn't see anything else available. To be fair we were told it would cost $130 for the night. Have to say I was not impressed with the accommodation. I have stayed in campground cabins...
