We were only here for 1 night, but never the less we received a warm welcome. We found it interesting to see how Dean & Tonie turned this former hostel of the employees of the powerplan , which originates from 1934, into a comfortable lodge. There are 6 rooms (only 1 has an en suite) and 3 bathrooms in the...

My father worked here on the hydro power station in the 80's and lived in the small houses here. The lake is a beautiful place fead from the mountains and is so clear. If you follow the outfall to the power station you will see what a force water can be.

I've stayed here both in the winter and summer months and thoroughly enjoyed my stays. There is some stunning hiking available in the area with views of the surrounding mountains (the Peak Hill hike is a must, as is the nearby arboretum and power station). The proprietors' are very knowledgeable about the area's history and ensured a fantastic stay. Comfortable...

We arrived out of season to find the lodge closed. We are 2 te araroa trail hikers. We rang the bell and the nice lady gave us free hiking food and let us use the the kitchen to refill our water bottles. So far most kind accommodation on the trail.

Very kind of you to take the time to post these comments, especially considering I didn't do much at all!! Travelling in winter will certainly present a lot more challenges (like our Lodge being closed when you arrived), but hopefully you meet lots of helpful kiwis on your trip. All the best.

We stayed only one night here, but it has lovely scenery and the owners are so accommodating and friendly. They make all the meals here, and I totally recommend you eat them. They have large portions for dinner, nice breakfasts, but don't miss the afternoon tea!

This was a hostel for single working men and the size of the bedrooms and quality of the fittings reflect this. Only a continental breakfast is offered. I would go elsewhere for a meal in the evening.

Thanks for your comments. As one of the more affordable places operating in the High Country, we have sought to keep prices down by offering a set menu dinner and continental breakfast (although cooked is available on request) and this seems to work well for the majority of our guests. There is also a kitchen for guests who prefer to...

We stayed at Lake Coleridge Lodge after a three day segment of the Te Araroa trail. This entailed a long walk down the Harper River and then Harper River Road. Staggering into the lodge it was quite a contrast to experience the luxury of the lodge. A great room, great meal, and with some fine NZ wines on their wine...

I have just spent the weekend at the Lake Coleridge Lodge and I have to say in terms of service and cleanliness, it could not be faulted. We booked it out as a family for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and Toni and Dean went out of their way to make sure that we wanted for nothing. They were a...

Stayed for a night while my partner and I explored the local area on foot and bike. Toni and Dean were fantastic hosts. The place was absolutely spotless and in a great location. Gem of a pitch and putt course. Self catered this time (due to not knowing our arrival time) but next time we are back will go for...

This was one of my favourite places in New Zealand. If you want a lodge off the beaten track with amazing scenery, fantastic food and welcoming hosts, this is for you. We stayed in one of the cabins and loved it. The hot tub was a bonus and the food was to die for. Dean told us about a short...
