We had a cosy room with our own window looking out to the wilderness. The shared bathroom and kitchen facilities were very good and kept clean. There is ample parking and an easy walk to The Hermitage and the beautiful information centre. We thoroughly enjoyed...More
While I was here I worked out it has been 16 years since I last stayed in a hostel. Too long, if this fine establishment is a guide. Staff were super friendly. Bedding, shop, kitchen, lounge all so cosy. And the location ain't so bad!...More
This was our first time in a YHA hostel. I haven't had a lot of Hostelling experience, but this was the best by far. We arrived late, but had called ahead and got instructions from a friendly and helpful staff member. We stayed one night...More
Mt. Cook Village is not a huge area, but it does have plenty of places to stay and restaurants. We opted to stay at the hostel because of its availability and proximity to the Hooker Valley trail, which was our reason for being in the...More

Mt Cook is rather a small village, with few restaurants and accommodation options. So, when you get off the bus, it will be easy to ask around and just walk to the establishment. In any case, i strongly recommend you purchase a local (New Zealand) Sim card when you arrive at the airport. It is worth it as there is a special rate for international calls and SMS, not to mention, you can also call local lines easily and use the 3g or LTE network. You can even tether (be a wifi hotspot) if you have a spare mobile phone that has a hot spot feature.
