Stayed in a 6 bed dorm in February. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a really nice lounge and good kitchen space. Good WiFi. The yha is located in a fantastic area. Would definitely recommended!
Easy location to find, check in and stay at. I recommend it, but probably only if you don't plan to spend a lot of time here.... ie use it as a place to sleep. It is nice, with great staff that are friendly and helpful....More

Busy hostel, fully booked, comfortable, good kitchen facilities and comfortable double bed. Easy access to many nearby hikes. A bit more expensive than some hostels, probably because of location. Not a lot of choices in the area.

Hi, I am traveling in April with my daughter. We are not driving, but will be taking advantage of some of the bus tours. The one we looked at drops us off at Mt Cook Village. Is that near the YHA? How would we go about getting to the YHA if we are not near it? Thanks, Laura Quiza

Mt Cook is rather a small village, with few restaurants and accommodation options. So, when you get off the bus, it will be easy to ask around and just walk to the establishment. In any case, i strongly recommend you purchase a local (New Zealand) Sim card when you arrive at the airport. It is worth it as there is a special rate for international calls and SMS, not to mention, you can also call local lines easily and use the 3g or LTE network. You can even tether (be a wifi hotspot) if you have a spare mobile phone that has a hot spot feature.
