owned by the Devonshires and apparently much influenced by the late Duchess this is an oasis in a beautiful spot with a superb view towards the big house at chatsworth. We went on a Sunday nightt special which was still expensive but featured a nice standard room with heated bathroom floor. A cream tea welcomed us with champagne to be...

I received an email just a week before we were due to travel cancelling our booking. The reason was apparently due to boiler trouble which (the email states) would not be rectified in time. This put us in a very difficult position as the majority of accommodation in the area was fully booked by this time. I emailed the accommodation...

We had room 16 - fabulously appointed with a four poster bed and other antiques. Lots of sun comes in as the room has 2 sides which face over the lawns of the hotel and the adjoining fields. Friendly and efficient staff for which nothing was a bother. A very generous breakfast was included in our package. A great base...

We did not realise but we booked to stay during the Chatsworth three day equestrian event so it was very lively in Baslow traffic-wise. We are not horsey people but decided to go over and take a closer look and it was actually quite entertaining; it made for a more memorable experience in a way as we decided to sack...

Visited here for afternoon tea with my sister and we were really impressed with every aspect - the setting is amazing, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the afternoon tea is stunning! A great selection of sandwiches and cakes and it also came with a savoury tart which made a really nice change for an afternoon tea. The decor...

Have just returned from a two night stay at the Cavendish Hotel as we wanted to visit the new exhibition at Chatsworth House. We loved the hotel and especially appreciated the extra touches such as fresh milk provided in the fridge in the room and generous supplies of local biscuits. The bathroom was sparkling clean and none of those annoying...

This was our first stop in England and it did not disappoint. We rented the suite and everything was perfect. We were even able to get our only good night sleep here the entire time we were in England which was 10 days and a lot of hotels. So thank you for having nice beds in your suite. The water...

Beautiful lunch on a gorgeous Spring day. Excellent menu, struggled to make a choice but as it was Friday we decided on the Fish and Chips and were not disappointed!! Super service and the spectacular views from the dining room all combined to make it a trip to be repeated.

We booked this hotel through the Daily Telegraph inclusive of champagne tea, dinner and breakfast. Our room was delightful with nice views over the Derbyshire countryside. When we came down to tea, we were put alone in the dining room whilst the veranda was busy but not full. Having suffered from solitude enough we asked to be moved into the...

Thank you for your feedback; I was pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. as you are probably aware, we do offer two completely separate dining experiences, the less formal of which you may find better suited to your needs. I do hope that any delays at peak service times did not mar your experience too much. I...

Booked in for a Sunday special. The staff were very accommodating when we arrived early. We left our cars and enjoyed the lovely walks nearby. On our return we went into the conservatory for the afternoon tea and scones. The service was appalling, half an hour wait for a pot of tea. If it had been extremely busy I would...

Thank you for your feedback; not sure quite what went wrong with the afternoon tea, but I will certainly investigate, perhaps you might be good enough to call me personally at the Cavendish in order that I might get the full details. Pleased to hear all other aspects were to your liking. Kind regards Philip Joseph
