We stayed 02 nights, we'd 02 breakfast, 02 lunches and 02 dinners. The food is excellent. The service very gentle all meals. The bedroom is clean, spacious, charming. The location is very good, it's 20 minutes walking to reach the Chatsworth house. There are 03 things we kindly suggest: - sleepers in the room - umbrella for the guests (rains...

Dear JoseCarlos Many thanks for your comments, we really appreciate the feedback. Very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return in the not too distant future. Sorry we didn't have an umbrella - there is normally a plentiful supply at reception; I will look into this. The transfer to/from Chatsworth is a great idea - but I...

One of the best afternoon teas we've had - and we've had a fair few! Beautiful venue with stunning views. Elegant setting. Staff all in tweed was a nice 'traditional' touch without feeling clichéd. Service was subtle but attentive despite us being a little picky. Interesting veggie sandwiches; delicious cakes; good choice of coffees, teas and/or hot choc. Not the...

For unadulterated luxury you could not wish for a better hotel or environment. With bedroom views towards Chatsworth House and it's beautiful rolling hills and fields. Food is absolute perfection and could not ask for better attention from every member of staff.

The Cavendish Hotel is in a beautiful spot, the view is stunning and being within such an easy and lovely walk to Chatsworth was great...However, the hotel doesn't quite work as a 'luxury' country house hotel for a number of reasons. Our room was traditionally furnished, reasonably clean and had a beautiful view down the valley, but for a £200+...

Dear Blue Jules I always try to learn from guests comments when we get things wrong; but must admit I am struggling here! Puzzled why my House Porter wearing a shirt and tie should cause such consternation - perhaps you feel on open collar polo shirt as many dreadful corporate establishments have or even a vest might be more appropriate?...

Weekend break for 2 nights. Beautiful hotel with lovely views, on the pricey side even though we had a Telegraph offer which included 2 nights, dinner and breakfast for £250 pp. The place is small but a quality setting with cosy dining and seating areas. Food is lovely and presented well, but i have had better food for the price...

Impromptu evening away made perfect by excellent service, the room was beautiful, although the stool up to the four poster bed and myself only being 5ft1 created some amusement. Bathroom facilities lovely & clean and plenty of hot water, pleasantly surprised by the heated floor! We had an late afternoon pot of tea & sandwich and sharing was no problem,...

I love coming to the Cavendish for meals, afternoon tea or to stay. It's beautifully furnished and comfortably appointed with charming views of Chatsworth from every room. It has a quiet and calming atmosphere, partly achieved by the beautiful decor and in part by the seamless service the staff offer. The food is delicious with two restaurants offering both casual...

Called in for lunch with my mother and sister The seating in the conservatory is lovely and very warm just to our liking We ordered soup which was celeriac, lovely taste but probably a little too much oil drizzled on top. My sister had the omlete with smoked haddock and gruyere cheese which was fantastic, I had smoked salmon also...

We used to stay here in the 1990's and early 2000's, when we lived nearer to Derbyshire than now; this was our first return visit in 15 years, so we were slightly apprehensive. To our great relief it is still superb. Others have commented positively on the setting (near Chatsworth), the views and the tranquillity, and we endorse those comments....

This is the country house hotel you have always wanted to visit. Although fronting a reasonably busy road, it is very quiet as the rooms overlook Chatsworth Park to the rear. The House can just be seen in the distance. The staff could not do more and the food is exceptional by any standard. The building is old and the...

Dear Michael Many thanks for your trouble in feeding back your comments, and thank you for choosing to stay at the Cavendish; I was pleased to learn that you were well looked after. We have tried in past renovations to cure the creaking floorboards, but I too feel they add to the charm somehow! I hope we see you again...
