We chose this pub/hotel as it is only 5 minutes from Chatsworth where we wanted to spend a whole day. No problem with car parking and our room was on the ground floor overlooking a little courtyard (not accessible from our room) so very quiet. We had dinner both nights in the pub next to the fire and the food...

Stayed here for two days this week while working in the area. I'll certainly be staying here again, warm friendly staff, real ale, good value quality food. Only gripe is the microwaved scrambled eggs in the morning - why??!

From the outside and on first inspection the place looks delightful. There are however some elements that just don't work as they should do. We were advised in advance that there was a big private party and food and drinks service would not be available on the first night - the person who called offered a discount if we moved...

We Booked to stay here back in June 2015. When we arrived on Sunday 25-10-15 there was no where to park the car. Had to leave car on double yellow lines in the street. After checking in. We were taken to our room through a small room that was being used for a private party. We had to squeeze past...

Stayed at the Devonshire Arms, Baslow solely because of its proximity to Chatsworth---I could visit the house without the need for a car. Arrived by train and coach from Manchester (easy to do) and stayed three nights. Found staff to be accommodating when asked for anything. As stated in other reviews, it would be helpful to have some information on...

If this is family run then they seriously need to be working from the same sheet. No information pack available in room and a feeble excuse as to why not! No one available on Reception after 5.00pm so if you had a query there was no one available to answer it. The breakfast service although very good on our first...

Our friends were staying at the Devonshire Arms & we joined them for supper. Unfortunately while being set in one of England's most stunning landscapes this attractive & well appointed pub with rooms was let down by the staff. They were not bad just unprofessional. When our friends booked & confirmed they couldn't find the booking. When we arrived for...

We stayed one night in Room 6, pre a first Chatsworth trip; nice clean and well equipped bathroom, four poster bed, cozy and warm room. Evening meal we took in bar, as we preferred it to restaurant, but same menu; we had sharing seafood platter (really good), calamari (tempura not cooked through, but ok), and a Greek tapa board starter...

I have been to The Dev many times and never had a problem at all, until last night. The service was awful and when it was brought to the attention of the staff it was met with "oh was it?" A young waitress caught our eye on several occasions then looked the other way and refused to be engaged. We...

Starting with excellent reception staff, very helpful, through to smart, clean, well equipped room, excellent powerful and hot shower, quiet at night then the best cooked smoked salmon and scrambled eggs I've ever tasted - excellently prepared and presented. One night wasn't enough and we'll be back! One niggle? No menu in the room, no local info in room, times...
