Conveniently sighted near the airport (some aircraft noise) and the Kamari beach area ( where there are plenty of restaurants and shops), the Hotel Makarios is very clean with friendly helpful staff. The buffet breakfast can be eaten either in the inside dining room or the outside dining area. Snacks are available throughout the day from the bar at the side of the pool. No evening meal is provided by the hotel but there are multiple eating establishments just down the road. We stayed here twice during our holiday and the bedrooms were of a good size and air conditioned. Television and tea making facilities were provided. The bedroom during our first stay was at the front of the hotel and this suffered from noice from the traffic on the busy road at the front of the hotel, Our second bedroom was at the rear of the hotel which was much quieter. The bedrooms were cleaned very efficiently. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

Travel Zone booked this hotel for my friend and I and we were pleasantly surprised with how modern it was. The shower was AMAZING! The front desk provided great service and gave us great recommendations for local restaurants. The hotel is also close to the bus spot and within walking distance of the beach which has a lot of restaurants and shops. Only con was the hot tub wasn't serviced during our stay, which would have been lovely for a windy October night.

Pros: lovely clean modern hotel: rooms are clean with modern furniture and tiled floors. All have a balcony, hairdryer and TV. Modern shower room with drench and conventional shower. The hotel and rooms look newly painted.
A lovely outdoor pool with plenty of sun beds, tables chairs and umbrellas. There is a very nice pool bar selling all sorts of drinks plus snacks. Staff are very friendly and polite.
Cons: breakfast is buffet style with the same food every day. No other meals provided except pool bar snacks. A very noisy location next to a busy road and on the fly path for the nearby airport.

I just visited Makarios Hotel. The hotel is a 7-10 minute walk from the board walk and city center with restaurants and small shops. A local bus in front of the hotel takes you to Thira in 15 minutes and from there you can connect to most of the busses taking you all over the island. The hotel itself is very clean and cozy, friendly staff and a nice pool area. We had a great week, with this hotel as our base. I can recommend that you book a stay here.

We have just returned from Santorini and stayed at the Makarios Hotel. We had a wonderful time thanks to the staff and the location.
We found all the staff extremely friendly and very helpful. We were always greeted with a smile and an interest on how our day had been.
The rooms were cleaned daily by very friendly cleaners. Fresh towels and bedding daily.
The buffet breakfast had a good range of different foods and the coffee was very good! The staff in the breakfast area were always friendly and greeted everyone.
There is a lovely pool, a good size and a bar for drinks and snacks. The grounds are beautiful, very picturesque.
The location was perfect! Just a slow 10 minute saunter to the beach front, where all the restaurants and shops are.
The hotel is very near the airport. You do have the planes landing but as Santorini is such a small island, you will have the planes going over in alot of the hotels.
We had such an amazing time and I can't recommend The Makarios enough. We will definitely go back and stay there again.

Lovely hotel and perfectly situated close to the famous Santorini black sand beach. Hotel staff are very helpful and taxi can be arranged to Fira or bus scheduled to fetch passengers as per the timetable. Loved the pool and the cleanliness of the hotel, rooms and pool area

Very good, The staff we're nice, the pool and restaurant was nice, the room was nice, I highly recommend it 😀 plus it had a tennis court and for people who love planes, they pass right above the hotel and from the balcony you can see the runway! Very cool! The only downside, was that is wasn't very clean in the pool, overall Very good! :)

All I can say is that the hotel is perfect for a small break/holidays. Nice staffs. Petros was really helpful with everything. the only down side was the breakfast. The coffee machines didn't work perfectly and food was average. other than that the property was beautiful and just in front of the bus stop to Fira, so that is a plus point!

We stayed for a week in this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The all inclusive is simple, but food is home cooking type food. Local drinks are limited to ouzo, raki, white and red wine, beer, soft drinks, water, soda water and coffee and tea. Meal times 8 - 10 breakfast, 11 - 12 snacks, 13 - 14:30 lunch, 15 - 18 snacks (toasted sandwich)and ice-cream, 19:30 - 21 dinner. Drinks were inluded in the all inclusive option between 10 am and 10 pm. We thought the bar could have been open a bit longer.
Rooms are simple but very clean. Our room was facing the front and pool . Shower cubicles are very tiny - even a normal-sized person has difficulties in taking the shower in them. Hotel is in the northern end of Kamari near to the end of the airport's runway. It personally never disturbed us. This may be a drawback, but I found it facinating to follow the planes landing - planes usually approach from the south over the Kamari and Avis beaches and take off towards north. About 10 min walk to the beach street of Kamari. Wifi was free both in the rooms and in the lobby but very slow. Hotel provided pool towels, tennis and table tennis (our fav) equipment against a refundable deposit, and massage chairs (2€/8 min). There were also two computers for public use.
We hired 3 different types of quad bikes (the 450 4x4 was a fav) ask for special price and shop around. Also car hire. There is an amazing open air cinema that is possible to walk from the hotel.
We would stay again

This little hotel is so vastly underestimated in every department. The people who run and manage the hotel and the people who work in it daily are all very pleasant and polite and very helpful. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. We were allocated room 209 which was perfect for us both and the facilities were excellent. We had air conditioning, fridge, TV, safety deposit box, double bed, balcony with table and chairs, bathroom with walk in shower which was amazing. Towels and bedding were changed every day without fail, even our pillows were changed too. I have been in higher rated accommodation in the past which never provided as high a class of service as the staff did at the Makarios Hotel. We were all inclusive and whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner there was always plenty on offer with a good variety of dishes to choose from. Red or white wine, draught beer and fruit juice or water are available in the restaurant. At the bar there's draught beer, Ouzo and Raki, soft drinks and water and ice cream in the afternoon. You can also order snacks in between restaurant times from the bar and I recommend the cheese and ham toasties which are fabulous. The pool area is kept clean and tidy and there's always plenty sun loungers around and they all seemed to be in good condition and the pool itself is of a decent size for a swim or a paddle. Pedros at the front desk is a most helpful gentleman and he will sort you out with a car, quad bike or scooter hire or any tours or boat trips around Santorini. The hotel is in a peaceful location and there's nothing noisy or rowdy nearby not counting the airport of course which I thought was spectacular to watch the aircraft come in to land so close and low. The beach is a 5 minute stroll and the bus stop is right outside the hotel entrance. I'd have no hesitation in going back to the Makarios Hotel and if they keep the high standards they have set then the facility will go from strength to strength. Thank you from my wife and I for giving us a memorable honeymoon and we look forward to seeing you all again in the future.

Hi. Unfortunately, cannot really give you a full answer. There wasn;t an iron in our room and, as we did not need one, we did not have to ask for one. However, they were most helpful with other requests for items, so I would think that they would be able to provide one if necessary.
Dear Sirs
yes we provide beach towels with a deposit of 10 euros. When you return the towel at the reception, we return the deposit back!
Thank you very much
It's all traditional tavernas in Kamari, I think there may have been a McD's in Thira
There are no tea making facilities in the rooms. We took a travel kettle with us and were so glad we did!!!
