Date of stay: End of July Travelers: Two adults and a 16-year-old
Rooms: We booked a room for three people and were assigned one on the ground floor, directly opposite the paddling pool. The proximity was such that, if you reached out on the balcony, you could touch a child. The rooms on the ground floor have a small “garden” with direct access to the pool, but no views. Those on the first floor have neither views nor direct access to the pool, being the least recommended. The rooms on the upper floors offer excellent views of the beach. Thanks to the management of the reception staff, we were able to change (upon payment of an increase) to a room on the top floor, further away from the paddling pool. This second room was excellent, with two separate spaces for adults and children, and a very spacious bathroom in between.
Facilities: The hotel is divided into two sections or “wings”: one around the adult pool and one around the children’s pool. Naturally, the adult pool section is much quieter. However, children are present throughout the hotel.
Half Pension Scheme: We opt for Half Pension, which includes breakfast and dinner. One negative detail is that drinks are not included in this regime, not even water, which is filtered and not bottled. Although there are fountains of filtered water in all corridors of the hotel, at the buffet you are charged for that same water.
Cuisines: Breakfast and dinner were excellent, with a varied buffet not repeated in a week. Every day there is a different theme for dinner (Mexican, Italian, American, etc.), with quality food and well cooked. At breakfast, there may be some queue for coffee machines. If one of the machines needs maintenance, the queue lengthens considerably. There are two types of machines: one that uses coffee powder and one that offers real coffee, with a noticeable difference in quality. Except for the detail of charging the tap water, everything was excellent.
Location: The hotel is on the beachfront, with direct access from the pools through the dunes or a wooden walkway. The beach is wonderful, with endless sand, crystal clear water and surrounded by dunes with marine junipers and pines. Across the hotel there are golf courses and more hotels, in a quiet and pleasant area. There is also a shopping area with pharmacy, shops and restaurants within a 5-minute walk. We had no parking included, but there was no problem parking on the avenue behind the hotel.
Entertainment: The hotel offers varied and well-received evening shows. They finish at a reasonable time and are not disturbing.
Conclusion: Except for the detail of charging tap water, the hotel is excellent and in an unbeatable location.

I brought 4 groups here in 2023 for golf from Ireland, 2 in April and 2 groups in October. I have brought groups here for years, occasionally I bring them to another part of Spain or Portugal, Cypress etc but only if the group want a change in scenery. The only problem with going here is trying to find somewhere to match the experience you recieve here! From the second you walk in and are greeted by jesica and the best, most helpful front desk staff in the world, check in at lightning speed and efficiency, luggage area right beside the bus drop off and reception, cross the floor to now meet the best most friendly bar staff you will ever meet but it doesnt end there! We have bracelets that you can use as your all inclussive, pop into the dining area for breakfast lunch and dinner, with again the best staff you could ever hope to meet, all are exceptional human beings! Each as friendly as the next, as a group we always do a collection to show our appreciation for both the dining staff and the bar staff to show our appreciation. The food is excellent with a great variety and standard. To sell my trip I only have to send on a video of the many chef stations and variety of food. I've been here more than 10 times with groups of up to 40 people and have never had a complaint about staff, food or variety of food if that tells you something! The table wine is good and for a little extra you can buy a very nice bottle of red or white off the menu. After dinner there is entertainment, depending upon the time of year and weather it is out door or indoor. The indoor is fun, plenty of dancing. The outdoor team have a stage and produce fantastic dance and singing programmes among other things! I wont spoil the surprise. Fantastasic variety and omens effort and talented individuals provide the entertainment. The hotel has 3 pools and an indoor pool, I didnt get to the spa but it lines up nicely from what my group said with the rest of the hotel as being excellent. The beach is only a couple of minutes walk away. Long soft sandy beach greets you! Can it get any better? It does believe it or not, a short lovely little walk through woods or a shuttle bus over to the golf courses of nova sancti petri 36 hole complex, seve designed courses which held the challenge tour events so a good standard and depending upon which tees you use, every golfer is catered for. Its sets up well for ladies and higher handicappers and the lower handicap golfers can play further back if they wish. The driving range is excellent with chipping and bunker greens all over the place. It even has a thatched roof cottage with a quaint spanish style restaurant. Angela was there to serve us as we had a guitarist play late after the golf, she kept the bar open for us! Amazing staff again. Simon McKenzie is the director of golf and is the most charismatic and knowledgeable manager you could ever encounter at any golf resort. Simon is also involved with business development so thanks to Simon for all his knowledge and hospitality, if you need to know anything about this venue or other iberostar venues, simon is the man to ask and is very gracious with his time and knowledge. Because of simon countless groups come back here or other iberostar resorts. He is a true ambassador of the highest calibre. The whole golf team do a fantastic job.. Reception at the club handled everything flawlessly, downstairs team are excellent and have the buggies set out for you when you arrive. Allejandro (not sure about the spelling) was excellent and went over and beyond for us on both of our April trips and any time he was working. The courses are in great condition. Play moves smoothly, good buggies and plenty of pull trellises. For the most part I would say it's a flat course and easy to walk but the courses are interesting. If you want extra golf estancia is very nice and well conditioned, it is open ish but interesting, again staff are helpful and will bring you there on a shuttle bus at no extra charge. Green fees with a buggy are very reasonable. I think we paid 65€. As a pro I like to enjoy my golf, if you want to try the most interesting course possibly in spain, then try nova sancti petri hills, again they provide a shuttle service. Designed by manuel piñero this course is for me the most fun course I've ever played. My groups absolutely loved it and booked in on their days off. The rough cutters was broken down when we played so we played placing everywhere which added to the fun. The greens were a nice speed, lots of water and it's like a game of chess with plenty of risk reward shots. Every hole is completely different and memorable. If you have a good attitude and love your golf you will love this place. Green fees are excellent value. The staff again are the heart and soul of this club. Everyone of them are completely dedicated to making nova sancti petri hills a success. Without them I fear it would not be the success it is and will be. The courses in the area add to the experience of my groups while staying at the royal andalus. Now my only dilemma is that after bringing my groups here so many times and I'm having to keep my trips fresh, where can I bring them to give them a similar experience. Thanks to Simon for helping me out here and keeping the business within the amazing iberostar family of hotels, I think we have come up with another venue which may come close but I'll be back here with a fresh group in march and no doubt i will be back with my royal andalus faithful group soon in a year or two to create more great memories. Come here, but if you have groups, be aware that you may not be able to match it elsewhere. A big thank you to the best staff in the world at any golf resort. Compared to other similar hotels in the area of Cadiz and Huelva, of the same category and typology, it is the one I have liked the most so far. I go into detail.
Positive points: 2 swimming pools in 2 separate areas, one quieter and one where the activities are done. There are always hammocks available, you do not have to go down to the pool soon to have one. Access to the room is through the wristband of the contracted regime, for all members. There are no cards. Availability of towels for the pool, which you can change once a day. The buffet is very good, it is very complete. And the restaurant is quite quiet; there is not the typical beverage refilling machine, but you are served at the table. The service very attentive, immediately remove the dishes,... If you have Half Pension, you can exchange Dinner for Meal by paying €8 per person (included food drink). In the room there is shower instead of bathtub Access to the beach is very comfortable.
Negative points: In the corridors of the hotel there are free filtered water machines, with which you can refill a bottle of water, as many times as you want. But at dinner, if you want water, they have no mineral water, only filtered water, which comes in an open 500ml container, and for which they charge you €2.70. It should be free, as in the rest of the hotel, if it is filtered, or they have mineral water, charging it. He touched us in a room above reception, and it was very noisy
Suggestions: Put more shelves in the closet in the room. They're scarce. The washbasin soap is very high. Children do not arrive and short people, with difficulty.
In short, recommendable.

After reading so many good reviews, we decided to go but as soon as we arrived it was a disappointment. The car has to be parked in the parallel street, you have the option of parking at 30€! Once inside, the first thing you see is a bar with tables and armchairs (many of them need good cleaning), I had never seen this in a hotel hall. Once the keys are handed over, we head down a corridor that is covered by a roof that lets natural light through but provides unpleasant heat as the air conditioning was not on (surely the justification they will give is that they are a sustainable hotel and committed to the environment). Arriving at the top floor where our room was, the heat was worse. The room has a bathroom without door, it will be very modern but it is not intimate. The bathroom design was done in a hurry: there is no room to leave two hand towels at once, the hangers to leave the shower towels, one inside the shower and one in the toilet part (very hygienic). The very uncomfortable pillows and the door to the room had slits that let the light through the hallway at night, for those who need to sleep in the dark is complicated. Bad soundproof, we had a great snorer next door. It was quite unpleasant to see a cockroach in the bathroom one night, thanks to the cleaning crew it was solved. The breakfast firm monotonous and of poor quality, croissants flavored with fridge, pancakes made only on one side, the only good thing the churros. In the hotel description they decided that the gastronomic offer was: law firm restaurant, grill restaurant, Manolete restaurant and smart cafe. It is true that they exist but what they do not say is that they are closed to lunch between 13:00 and 16:00. Only the Manolete restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, we found out about this on a Monday and the hours were set that Monday afternoon. Fortunately there are two swimming pools, one is quiet and the other is a constant noise. It is well located facing the beach and access to it is good, as in the other area hotels but away from the leisure area. The hotel is totally family friendly, if you do not have children it is not your hotel.

Good hotel with improvement points! Excellent location to disconnect, has direct access to the beach. It is true that the parking option is expensive, but gentlemen, if it is complicated to park from there its price (here we are all to win is called marketing). The hotel reception/lobby is passable, if you will change those used and dirty chairs because people sit even with wet swimming trunks and scraps of sand would be something else... The front desk staff... they're very attentive and polite and others less so. The hotel has two swimming pools, one quieter and one less quiet hehe. Normal rooms, you could improve the pillows and with option to double mattress, rest is very important, compared to the normal shower bathroom, spacious, it is true that the towel hangers one is in the shower and another near the toilet. The cleanliness is sometimes positive and other times they have passed in a hurry, so much so that they leave you without soap or directly enter without first knocking on the door. Common areas with very hot and certain unrenovated bathrooms. The buffet is quite varied, with different themes depending on the day, good quality rice, details at the entrance and excellent service. All this would not be possible without the great work and effort of BOCANEGRA and all his team, without doubt the heart of this hotel someone who lives by the client who makes you feel better than at home and who certainly makes you remember your stay and come back!. Regarding the bar and its cocktails, please I strongly ask that the straws be solved to have a mojito in conditions, if you want there are solutions! P.d. It is very ugly that if you take a combination having an IT is served in a soda glass and if you pay either in a ball glass, gentlemen we have IT have also paid, we do not deserve a worse glassware service and before I forget... a coaster would not hurt either, so when it comes to drinking you do not drip the glass and you stain your dress, also not leaving it on those wonderful tables of holes located on the terrace.

This hotel, claiming to be a 4 star hotel, is not what it should be! A room rate in the 300 euros per night and then asking for deposits for the usage of towels, rent the in-room safe and also pay a deposit for that is outrages! They also offer a car park for 35 euro's per day! Yes the area surrounding the hotel has full streets of parked cars but it is possible to park your car for free (white zones)! So safe yourself some money!
The only staff who's speaks English is the reception but all other customer-facing staff bar / restaurant / pool is scares. On top of not being able to speak English I have noticed on multiple occasions that people that don't speak Spanish get helped after Spanish people. At first I thought I was imagining this but also my wife had the same experiences. A few staff members understand service with a smile but most of them rather give you an angry look!
The food in this place is mediocre. Be prepared also to meet coach roaches and other tiny crawlers in the dining area! To make things even worse, I woke up one day with an ant colony on my pillow and on the head rest.
Our room was unfortunately facing the kiddy pool / entertainment area and because of that you can forget to catch some sleep till midnight. The music is sooooo loud that it is impossible to sleep early. The sliding door to our balcony could not be locked. Another issue is the shower. The temperature is constantly changing between warm and cold water.
Back to the pool area; The second pool is a bit cooler but does not come with all the fountains and slides. The first two days was great since there were no kids coming there but afterwards also this place was overrun by children and their parents. The supervision by the "life guard" is bad. They rather watch their phone. One person forbids people to do stuff and when they change shift the next person does not care what is happening inside the pool. Rules are not being enforced and depending on who is watching. One day a drunk man, that was puking his brains out, was being guarded and dealt with by guests and it took forever until hotel staff attended this incident. It was thanks to hotel guests that this guy did not drown (yes he went into the pool) or chocked on his own vomit!
If you have all-inclusive don't expect drinks or food on the beach and also for the beds on the beach you have to pay. Even full price if you come at the end of the day!
Then last but not least (and this is not the Hotel's fault) but kids can do whatever they want in this place because parents seem to not care since they also want to enjoy their holiday. Resulting in screaming, breaking stuff, throwing with food, dropping food or simply grab food from the buffet (yes with their hands) and then put it back. By the way cutlery, plates and glasses are not always the cleanest so careful what you grab or have on your table!
If you come here for your rest and expect good service, think again! For us it is a NEVER again!

Response from online experience Iberostar, Owner at Iberostar Royal Andalus

Renovated hotel, with an excellent location, right in front of the wonderful Barrosa beach.
We spent a week in July and I can't say how bad it was..., but it didn't meet expectations.
Positive: Location, direct access to the beach, friendliness of the staff and excellent entertainment for children (not our case). Good breakfast. Excellent pool, water with an ideal temperature, very clean and "quieter", enough hammocks, located in another area separate from the family area, although sometimes it was also filled with children. Neat and pleasant facilities and exteriors. The availability of a smoking area is appreciated.
Regular: Correct double rooms, but small. Pool hammocks somewhat uncomfortable. The dinner was fine, without further ado, with problems finding a table outside. Impossible to sit down and watch the evening show, unless you have dinner at 8 in the afternoon... full from very early.
Negative: No parking areas in general and only 3 for reduced mobility, always occupied. Parking €35/day, exorbitant price, even if they fill it up... There are no toilets in the pool area. You have to get inside, with the danger of slipping if you are wet. Also to have a drink in the quieter pool. There is no bar or outdoor beach bar. Only in the family room, which is packed and didn't offer much, since many people had IT.
Very negative: In MP there is the possibility of changing dinner for lunch, as we did on one occasion, which we did not repeat, since the result was terrible, the food is much inferior to dinner and what's more. They charge a supplement of €8/person, because the drink is unlimited. That is, on tap and you serve it yourself, lines... poor quality, etc.. At dinner, you pay for the drink separately, but you pay for what you drink, they serve you and the quality of the drink and food is infinitely better. We also did not like what they offer to hire IT, as mentioned above.
I would repeat, but at another time. High quality/price ratio, compared to other hotels of the same category and others in the chain that we have already visited.

We knew the chain from Lanzarote, rather better that one. If you do not have a car do not go, there is no boardwalk and if you want to walk it is road with pine forests. It is isolated along with other hotels, pool and beach life, nothing more. Not worth the all-inclusive, they have almost nothing without alcohol, no must, no slush, no Smoties and little snacks. It took a world for them to make us a mojito without alcohol. There are also no soda cans or bottles that you can climb into the room or take to the pool, everything is in a glass. I highlight Mr. Bocanegra who got us the mojitos, but every night they said no and we had to name him. I highlight Loli, an exemplary and very friendly cleaner. I highlight the good animation team, although in the shows I have a little Childish, since there are all day activities for them and at night I lacked more adults. The buffet is fine. The rooms were nice, a little small. Pool very well and access to the beach. Well to rest without pretending to go anywhere if you don't carry a car, that's why I wouldn't come back. There is no possibility, as in others, to make excursions.

Well-connected family hotel, with a beautiful beach next door, with very good customer service and great cuisine. To put it in context, we stayed there after staying at the Andalucia Playa and with a view to traveling in the future with the whole family, the truth is that it was a great decision
Positive points:
The attention at reception by Rafael was unsurpassed, a charismatic, efficient and very pleasant man, he gave us all the necessary information; and he also quickly managed to change the duvet cover on one of our beds, which upon arrival we observed was stained (and which after Rafael's call was immediately changed by the maid on the floor). She apologized and made the change quickly (we are human and these mistakes can happen, the important thing is to correct them effectively.
Although the room is more humble than in the Andalucía, it is comfortable, well soundproofed and has everything you need.
It has several swimming pools, activities for children every day, and good quality cuisine, variety and good rotation.
The service in bars and restaurants is very good and despite being a more crowded hotel, exceptionally managed.
Despite being a 4* and more affordable hotel, we felt more cared for and pampered as loyal customers of the chain than in the Andalucia (they had a multitude of details with us).
Also highlight Patricia's attention from the management, close and charming.
Negative points (to say the least)
At night in the Lobby bar, another waiter could do with supporting the crowd of guests wanting a drink.
The room and bathroom could be a little more spacious and modern.
The soft drinks at the bar for mixed drinks could be from a bottle and not from a machine.
Overall, we found it to be a family hotel with an excellent quality/price ratio, with unsurpassed service (better than that of 5* hotels, as well as that of Andalucia), next to the beach, and with all the comforts. Hotel if you are traveling with the family more than recommended, although it is true that you are only looking for tranquility and you are going as a couple, it may be that the Andalucia meets your expectations better. We will be back.

We have been in several hotels in the area and certainly quality-price will be in which we repeat, highlight the accessibility to the beach and the friendliness of the staff. Our first contact with the hotel was with Luis who helped us unload our bags and was already giving us recommendations that already improved our stay, the staff of the buffet, without exception, friendly, polite and wanting to leave a great taste in your mouth, apart from the daily variety. The hotel has a paid hammock service, where you find Sergio most friendly and who is continually cleaning the promenade and maintaining the area. Finally highlight the Kangaroo club service where Arancha cares and plays with children under 4. Thanks for everything.
We'll be back.
