Generations Riviera Maya Resort is lauded for its vibrant atmosphere and special touches, especially during celebrations, with live entertainment and comfortable accommodations that keep the mood festive. Guests often commend the staff's warm hospitality and the responsiveness of butlers, although some have encountered service inconsistencies. Impeccable cleanliness across the property is a highlight for many, yet some visitors have had less stellar experiences.
While the spacious rooms earn praise, they are not without criticism due to maintenance needs. Although the dining options are a hit, skeptics point out that the resort's value proposition is diminished by high costs and underwhelming extras.

Hotel's Favourite
Because the staff at Generations is so incredible we feel like we are attending a family reunion each time we return.
The management team sets the tone for the entire hotel. Resort manager Lucia along with her assistant Berenice, are aided by Exotic manager Nelly and Fabiola, the head of concierge staff.
The staff of butlers is efficient and wonderful. Luna, Ana and Ramon helped our family, but Diego, Eddie, Imelda, Luis, Gerardo and Israel always backed them up.
We had an opportunity on this trip to get to know the chefs at the great restaurants at Generations. Paco Gomez, Sanjeev, Elizabeth, Daniel Pacheco, Fabean and Victor served up some of the best food we have ever had.
Restaurant managers and servers made our mealtimes memorable and enjoyable. Ivan, Angel, Aimee, Lourdes, Tere, Fernando and Nancy warmly greeted us while servers Juan Carlos, Alex, Daniel, Eduardo, Eduardo, Guillermo, Miguel, Jonathan and Hellen efficiently and graciously served our meals and drinks.
Tatiana, Rosa, Rosalba and Reyna kept our room tidy and clean while Ivan kept our mini fridge stocked up and security staff Silverio and Fernando were always out and about.
Our building concierge staff of Jaime, Andres, Jenifer and Mafer greeted us each day and were available as needed.
We had additional family join us for the first time on this trip. Bellboys Juan, Tony, Julian and Frank handled our luggage so professionally, and bar servers Marisol, Martha, Erbie, Joaquin, and Jose Luis made sure our glasses were not empty for long.
The Lomas staff at Generations, LuĂs and Armando, arranged all our trips to and from the airport, and Carlos Tuz was our excellent driver.
As mentioned above we had family join us on this trip, so we took advantage of the wonderful Kids Club staff of Maya, Xio, Wendy, Angie and Mireya. Every child under their care was safe and happy with lots of activities. While outside and around the pool they were kept happy and busy by the Entertainment Staff of Claudia, Paty and Sharon.
We go to Generations twice a year for two weeks at a time. It is truly our home away from home.

We have been to karisma resorts multiple times and this was our second stay at generations. The resort is an amazing resort to visit especially if you enjoy being in a pool. The pool is huge and enough room so your not on top of each other. The swim up bar seemed to be overwhelmed at times and took longer than usual to get served. What I observed was usually only one bar tender making drinks and everyone just taking orders. Minor complaint and can be easily fixed.
What makes generations a great place to visit isnât entirely just the resort itâs the people working there. We had amazing butlers during our visit Eddie and April. They always made sure we were taken care of. Since we have been there in the past even our old butlers and friends Jesus and Luiz always popped in to make sure we had no issues. Eddie and April always made sure the boss my five year old was always happy and took extra time to make balloon animals and make sure they left some candy in the room for him.
As far as the food is concerned we had a minor issue on day two of our stay. During that time we had a chance to meet Jesus and Gustavo these two oversee the food and beverage for the resort. They made a point to stop in daily during our lunch and dinners to make sure everything was up to par.
Having been to karisma resorts nearly 20 times now what we have noticed is that the rooms could use updating and could be better maintained/cleaned. We have also noticed that dress codes are not enforced enough by the front of the house. Multiple times we would see people not dressed according to their permitted dress code for meals. We observed kids with wet bathing suits being sat for dinner at jade and guys with ball caps on and t shirts. Not a big deal until someone has to use the chair after them and now has a wet butt. This being our second stay at the resort some of our complaints prior still exist today. They need better food options for kids and stop giving kids glassware at meals. Also enough with the up charges for special meals and drinks this is an all inclusive resort stop asking for more.

We booked this trip because we both work in Hospitality and even with COVID when most people were off, we were not. After a long stressful year we just needed a break and wanted to go someplace warm. Being in hospitality, I researched extensively our options because COVID precautions are super important to us. We booked here even though we didn't have children with us based on the excellent service reviews and knowing what Karisma as a brand did for COVID.
The property was around 60% occupancy and very busy with weddings but that didn't seem to impact the service or the cleanliness. Our butlers Melissa and April were wonderful. Melissa realized that my husband didn't like sun and often made sure a balibed was available for his use. The food was wonderful and Jade was one of the best Asian restaurants we have eaten at (note you can even get wonderful steaks there). They have a fabulous plantain sushi that is a must try! All of the waiters were wonderful and Gustavo takes his F&B managerial duties very seriously and my husband enjoyed talking with him about their operations. Likewise, we got to visit with Mariana who we got to exchange information about Covid practices and how it has impacted our business. She is definitely an amazing GM who is super focused on customer experience.
Some tips I would share as a couple: It is louder because there are many families and a large very entertaining pool bar. If you are looking for quiet then their neighboring property would be ideal (El Dorado Casitas). If you don't mind the lively atmosphere the end buildings are slightly quieter. We actually had a room directly in front of the pool bar in building 19 and Mariana was so kind and relocated us once occupancy opened up to a different spot in building 20. The music creates a wonderful family energy but being that I had to work as well, it made it a little difficult so we really appreciate her being understanding. The last thing I wanted to do as a GM myself was complain about a room or ask to move.
Some of the dining options are limited, they don't have everything open all the time but as mentioned above, we were impressed with what they did have open. You can also visit the restaurants at the neighboring properties if you are a couple so that was a nice perk. We would definitely return just based on the cleanliness and service and appreciated the wonderful week in paradise while we detoxed from a stressful year!

First time staying at Generations. Came with my wife, 3 kids (9, 10 and 12) and grandfather (89). Had a great time, the resort is beautiful, the rooms are massive, our 2 bedroom was over 2000 sq ft! We enjoyed the food and the restaurants, it was nice to be able to take a golf cart over to their sister resorts and eat there also. (Adults only but our kids are obsessed with room service) Grandfather had no issues getting around and staff were always willing to help. Everyone at the resort was very helpful, Diana, Luiz, Roman, Rosaura were some of the standouts amongst the many with great customer service. I feel our vacation was really made great though by our concierge Leo. Super well organized, always checking in on us to make sure we were ok. I felt like the quality of your concierge or butler may make or break your vacation here and Leo was excellent. The New Years celebration was something very special. The extensive work put into it is something everyone should experience at least once. I cannot stress enough how great it was and how beautiful the resort was. We were there for Christmas too and the Sanata visit and entertainment was great. Downfalls for the resort: Bali beds, they need more, people like to lay in the bali beds, even if they don't have a direct view of the ocean, put out an extra row on the Northside, since everyone is getting up early to get one the people setting up the beds should be there early too. If you can't do more bali beds get the premium wood lounge chairs and throw an umbrella between them. Pool water temp: I want to live in the pool while I'm on vacation and hangout at the pool bar, unfortunately the pool was too cold. The hotel casts a shadow over the pool after 3 which I'm sure contributes to the temperature but heating the pool in the winter is a must. Thank you Generations for a wonderful stay we will be back!!!

Wife and I had a fantastic week at Generations! Lower occupancy allowed us to upgrade from a standard room to a 1 bed corner suite with patio and walk out pool (totally worth the $400 increase). From the golf cart drivers to the folks cleaning around the resorts to the wait staffs, everyone was super friendly and seemed genuinely appreciative that we were there. With El Dorado Casitas and Royale a short walk away, the food options were great. Shout outs to Aby at Rincon, Ana (our Beach Butler at Generations), David at D'Italia, Chris (awesome Yoga instructor!), and especially our personal Concierge Eli. We will be back!

We arrived at the beautiful resort and were greeted by Guillermo who was super friendly and helpful to us throughout our stay and always answered our many questions patiently!! The property was beautiful and clean and we loved walking, biking, or going on golf cart shuttles multiple times/day to get to one of the different pools, beach areas, or restaurants that all served delicious, fresh food and always had excellent service by waitstaff. We loved biking around the property daily to look for wildlife.. resident crocodiles, iguanas, spider monkeys! We talked daily and got friendly assistance from our butlers Nick, Jesus, Israel, Imelda, Arturo, and Kevin. Luis from Lomas travel helped us plan some amazing excursions to see Mayan ruins and cenotes!! There were so many other friendly staff (golf cart driver-Jesus, activities-Haxby..and others) that really made our experience great and made Mexico feel like a warm, welcoming country to someone who has never traveled there before. I was also really impressed with the sustaianable/green initiatives at the resort. Our only feedback would be to have some more quiet times at the family pool area and to have bike rentals on both sides of the resport. Otherwise, our vacation was muy bien!!

First and foremost, our butlers Luiz and Israel elevated the bar for customer service. They were proactive in making sure we had reservations to the restaurants we wanted. On many occasion drove us with the resort club car where we needed to go. We believe they are the best butlers. We wish we could have them assigned to us every time we stay at any of the resorts.
Our beach butler Carla had our Bali bed ready for us in the morning and made sure we were never thirsty.
We enjoyed lunch at section 31, I believe it is an unknown gem site for lunch thanks to Norma and her cook. The cook prepares different meals every day and they are truly really good.
Our room was always cleaned properly and the refrigerators properly stock every single day without us asking.
The reason for a four-star instead of five-star is due to concerns regarding room overbooking. As we check-in, we could overhear another couple been told the room they had book was not available.
In addition, as you talk to other people staying at the resort and quite a few of them share that they did not get the room they had reserved. It makes it quite concerning.
This is our third stay at Karisma resorts this year and we have experienced firsthand been told the room at a different resort that we had booked and confirmed was not available. We had hoped it was an isolated incident but it seems to be quite more common than we first thought at Karisma resorts.

I thought I booked a beachfront vacation but it didn't work out that way and that is why I say know before you go. There is probably a mile of beach but it was all unusable due to seaweed and sea grass everywhere. They must have had a hundred people constantly raking the beach and scooping it up with a machine and hauling away but to no avail at least in terms of being able to enjoy the ocean. Not sure if this is seasonal or a year round problem but be aware.
Another thing you need to know before you book are the types of accommodations between Generations and El Dorado Royale the sister resort that shares the property, as there are many and locations vary greatly. Make sure you get the type, price and location so that you get what you want as the choices are many and locations are spread over probably a mile at least.
With that out of the way please understand the place is fantastic. I would say its the cleanest resort I've ever visited, everything is immaculate and groomed, covid awareness is unsurpassed, and the staff if wonderful. You have so many options for dining you won't have to eat at the same place twice unless you choose too. They have staff available to assist you with whatever needs you may have, travel consultants on hand, and again the best people working to make your stay the best it can be.

The trio of Butlers that attended my fiance and I were truly outstanding. Stephanie enabled me to set up a pre-arrival wedding engagement surprise for me ahead of arrival. This meant that our engagement dinner was faultless and the entire staff at Jade Asian restaurant pulled out all the stops from beginning to end. Even after we left and realized that we had forgotten something in the room, Stephanie came to our rescue and ensured that our left item was retrieved by housekeeping and returned to us. What a totally professional employee!
Stephanie's coworkers Luiz and Jesus in the ButlerÂŽs Lounge also excelled in briefing us about the different types of dining options available at Generations, Casitas Royale and Dorado Royale.
The reception staff were outstanding with their warmth and personability. Eli,in particular merits a special mention. Our server at DĂtalia Casitas - Eliazer was outstanding too.
The rooms and amenities at Generations are very well thought out. Families are really well catered for and there are so many options for parents traveling with small children.
We already miss the resort and the smiling staff who wenbt out of their way to help us. We are already planning a return visit in 2021!

We have been traveling to Karisma Resorts for some time now to both adults only and family friendly resorts. We had not been to Generations yet so decided to give it a go this spring break. I personally was a bit hesitant at first as its design and other reviews had be thinking it would not be great for a 9 year old. Also read reviews that stated the "bar was loud and music played late into the night". Having been to Nickelodeon in Punta Cana in past, i was skeptical at generations working as a family resort. I can say, for OUR family, it was actually wonderful.
Family wise, there is plenty of activities for kiddos to do throughout the day. From pool activities, kids club and the Family Lounge, our kiddo was content the entire 4 days. We added an excursion and also visited the ranchero and greenhouse which was quite interesting. For OUR child, this all worked. It may not for some.
The room was spacious and the view from the balcony was spectacular to say the least. We were in 2 bedroom swimup which allowed for space for all as well as the privacy of having separate sleeping spaces and restrooms. The food was very good and offered plenty of options for kids as well as unique options for adults. After working through a couple glitches with the butlers on the first day, we had 3 days of on point service. Israel accommodated all our needs and was always happy and friendly when we spoke. In fact the entire staff of the resort was just as friendly and happy. As for the bar being loud, I will say there is entertainment every night until 10pm and one night a wedding party went on til 11pm. We are a family that gets up early in the morning and goes to bed fairly early so this could be an issue for families who have similar schedules. I can say it was loud until 10 every evening but we realize that people vacation differently so we didn't allow this to be an issue. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation for our family and we cant wait to go back.

The food is my favorite here - I have loved it every time I've been. I would say with day-rates for visiting family, and the amount of travel through the jungle to get from the road to the resort, it would feel like a HUGE deal to be at a different resort.
