Beautiful house situated in nice garden with pool. Large kitchen and sitting room to the guests disposal. Very friendly and helpful owner and family made the stay a fine experience even for someone with limited knowledge of french. Perfect for bicyclists.

Les Phoenix is clean and affordable, but the staff makes the stay unforgettable! They really know how to make their guests feel welcome! The owner opened the house for us, joined us with a homemade bottle of liquor, and served us breakfast as we were royal! We loved it!! Recommended!!!

The friendly and generous landlord is amazing. He transported our luggage to the ferry for transport to Bley among other things. We felt at home directly when we arrive this place. Paulliac is a nice city to spend an evening within. Great wine Chateaus nearby.

A good location within easy walking distance of the centre of Pauillac. Comfortable accommodation and good value. What we will remember more than anything about this place is the kindness and generosity of the owners. Cristoph and Nicole go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It is really more like sharing a home with friends than staying at the usual sort of chambre d'hotes. On our first evening Cristoph brought us samples of vintage wines and home made fare whilst we were sat enjoying the evening at the long table in the garden. On our last evening, for a very modest fee, Nicole cooked all the guests a fabulous meal accompanied by lots of interesting Medoc wines from Cristoph's cellar. If you are offered something similar it is a real treat. When I mentioned that we planned to take a taxi to go to a tasting at a nearby chateaux, Christoph looked at me quizzically and said why would you do that, I would be happy to take you there and back myself, which he very kindly did. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay; as with so many things it is the people that make the difference.

We arrived at this (quirky) place and were a bit surprised to find that although we had a short as requested, the loo was next door. The host is gracious and generous and we quickly got over it with a relaxing laze by the pool (cold water but in the heat it was lovely) and the ice creams that he kindly brought out for us. The room was clean and the shower excellent. Breakfast was a large affair with fruits, pastries, toasts, cakes, yoghurts etc. We were chatting with the other guests and the hosts and I explained that due to toothache and tablets my Fiancée couldn't try the local wines which was ironic because I wasn't as keen on Medoc wines. Our host disappeared and came back with a glass of cru bourgeois Pauillac red and cheeses and meat for me to try. I was sold and luckily he stocks as few bottles and I bought one. Although slightly out of place with it's location, and having a split of two houses the hosts are so eager to help and please that I am happy to recommend it as a chamber d'hotes.
