You couldn't find nicer, warm and caring folk in the hospitality industry. They made our meal feel like you were at home and made sure we had everything needed to enjoy dining together. The menu is a typical pub menu but was presented with real class.

My husband and I stopped in overnight at the Ranfurly hotel and really enjoyed our stay. A trip back in time as the hotel has lovingly maintained many of it original features, the cosy hotels decor was beautiful. The entire venue was extremely clean and tidy & both our ensuited room and the rest of the hotels common room facilities were...

Room was clean and reasonably quiet - although decor and fittings (such as showers) a little dated. Meal in the hotel restaurant was good - including a very tasty whitebait omelette. The breakfast (additional cost) was also hearty. Overall reasonably good value for money - and a convenient stop on the Central Otago rail trail.

Group of 12 stayed there recently and after reading recent trip reviews have to admitt was curious as yo how bad it could be. We were all Very surprised as to how great this place was, the owners were so friendly and welcoming, accommodation great, we had a mixture of ensuite and share rooms, not one bad comment. Beds so...

Now i come here for over fourteen years on our annual ride to the Brass Monkey Rally. Over the years i have seen different owners/ management. The latest owner seems to spent some money on this place , like new carpet, new bedding and towels. But that's it. Believe me i used to work in hotels for many years and...

My wife and I (elderly couple) booked a room at the Hotel before travelling down that way from Nelson. Well, it's really past it's glory days, for sure! Arrived mid afternoon, went to our room (on 1st floor), and 'tried' to have a quick rest before meal time. "What is that constant howling noise"? Seems to be the managers air...

If I look back on our 13-night road trip around the south island, The Ranfurly Hotel was possibly the 'worst' accommodation we stayed in - but although this might sound strange don't let that put you off because the hotel has bags of character and charm and for 105 dollars a night, it was perfectly adequate. Our hotel room was...

We stayed here for one night as a couple. The room was $105 a night which was probably about $25 too much. We both had one of the worst sleeps we have had for a very long time, my partner joked that "it was like sleeping on a bowl of jelly!!". The bed was like nothing we had ever experienced,...

We arrived in Ranfurly late on Saturday afternoon and not much seemed to be open so we stopped at the 'Ranfurly Hotel' for coffee and something quick to eat. Now we are fairly sensible travellers and appreciate that even the best place can be caught at the wrong moment. But our experience here was just completely off the mark! Having...

Really nice place to see. We took the cheaper option of a double bed with ensuite $105. It was a nice small room. Nice bathroom. Sink in bedroom. I found the bed too soft for me but my partner found it was fine. Lovely Art Deco style hotel. Recommended.
