This is a lovely heritage hotel with an internal courtyard restaurant. It's location in the old French quarter of the town is very peaceful and near to the seafront. Our room was a huge annex room with a lovely balcony, the only disadvantage being that it was outside the main body of the hotel, around the corner and access required...

For some reasons when we arrived they did not expected us - they had a booking (via the website booking) for one night the day after instead of two nights. They installed us in a beautiful room, same category, around the corner. We were therefore not in the hotel itself. Everything went well and the staff is nice. The room...

Nice place to stay at, good food, good ambience. When I stayed there I liked the experience. The food was nice and their beverages are decent too. I loved the place. If in pondicherry, I think one stay here and a walk around the french Boulevard there, early in the morning when the sun is still coming out, is a...

We arrived at 5.30am our first time in India very tired. We were checked in promptly and shown to our room on the ground floor. Initially I was a little disappointed as it was an internal room with a small open courtyard but after some rest and waking up refreshed I realised this was a benefit as we got virtually...

Firstly, we didn't stay here, so our impressions are based on observations when we stopped for a beer, which we have done in Heritage hotels all over Asia- and a Raffles, this hotel is not. Just from the furniture in the courtyard to the general air of quiet decay,,we understand some other reviewers comments. Compared to the Eastern and Oriental...

We have stayed in many "heritage" type hotels in India and sadly the Orient did rather disappoint. The building is lovely and with interesting decor. However for a hotel in this price range rather too shabby and not enough Chic! The restaurant and staff there were however excellent and much recommended. I do think Neemrana's need to attend to various aspects...

The stay was very pleasant... the staff was extremely helpful .. location is also good. However I felt that the maintenance could be better. If anyone has ever stayed at any neemrana property then you will know exactly what to expect.

Hmmm, nope, never again... Have been here last 3 days and checking out tomorrow - but clearly a failure on behalf of Neemrana for which we are paying the price. After very delightful experiences recently with couple of other Neemrana properties - Neemrana Fort and Glasshouse on Ganges - one feels totally misled coming here. Where do I start... Positive...

It is as good serviced & maintained as any Neemrana property can be. Located near the Paradise beach & walking distance from most of the local visting places & markets. Converted from a chettinad heritage property, rooms are spacious & tastefuly done in the old charmed way. Staff is courteous & more than helpful. Its small restaurant is visited even...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The magic of the whole Orient in one name: Pondicherry, where the French set up a new coastal lifestyle. Only a French flirtation with India’s bewildering diversity could have produced the refined and elusive magic of Pondicherry. Now, this French 18th century in India is brought alive again in a virtual art gallery with etchings and hand written postcards.Recreated in high-raftered ceilings with savonnerie rugs and easy chairs to lounge away the afternoons. Four poster beds – one accessed by three stairs! To help you recreate your past with dreams. Savour a French mansion full of Indian warmth.Enjoy fine Creole eating where Tamil spices mix with subtle French under-statement to titillate the palates of gourmets. ... more   less
