This guest house of the Wankaner Palace is surrounded on all sides by green-brownery. The dining hall is plush, the rooms are all different and done up nicely. Bathrooms are really big, though old, sparkling clean and everything works. There are just so many quaint things to sigh over, all the knick-knacks in the rooms, the choice of old picture...

A former guest house for the local royalty, this building takes you back to the 1930's and the glory days of the local royal family. It is now faded a bit, but clean and cared for by the staff. Our small group seemed to be the only guests. The drawing room and dining room were like stepping into a time...

Truly an oasis as the grounds are expansive and peaceful...well except for the peacocks! Though they are a stunningly beautiful creature, they don't seem to have a sense that night time is quiet time and so I arrive at the position where I thought I would never be: peacocks can be annoying! However, I would definitely not change this for...

I was here with my husband for 2 nights. And we had a nice stay. I loved the greenery that surrounds this hotel. Also, the hotel staff is very helpful and cooperative. The food menu options can be increased though.

Beautiful property with enough open space and fresh air. Their rooms were not that big but yes they were quite comfortable and well maintained. The restaurant was nice and they had all type of cuisines.

Maybe some maintenance would change the rating to "Very Good." Nice cool place. The rooms have been done up well. They have a very good indoor swimming pool. There is a step well that badly needs maintenance and repair, else it will collapse. There are several themes that the rooms are decorated - like the American style, the French style...

It is a beautiful property with perfect calm location. Would request owners to invest in maintenance of the property to take it to the next level. We see many such properties more famous because of good maintenance.

On our 3-weeks-tour through Gujarat, using mainly heritage accomodation, the Royal Oasis in Wankaner and the Orchard Palace in Gondal had been our most memorable stays. The Royal Oasis - a bit outside the town of Wankaner - is a wonderful building in pure Art Deco-style. Since we were the only guests we had the opportunity to be shown around...

“The Royal Oasis should appeal to people who are looking for some ambiance rather than modern commodities. Bring a good book and enjoy it on the terrace listening to the birds.”

“We had the ground floor room with access to the courtyard via the bathroom and liked it very much. There are some huge suites, pure art deco, upstairs - but personally I preferred having easy access to the outside as that is where we spent our time.”
