A friendly hotel in a good location by the sea in a pleasant little town. I was there for a conference and had no say in choosing the hotel but I was not disappointed. The room was simple but large enough and pretty confortable. The breakfast buffet was great and the staff was friendly.

Although the outside does not look very attractive, the hotel is perfectly located on the beach and in the centre of town. The hotel will not win an award for the best or the most trendy architecture but the rooms are large, clean, comfortable and with excellent beds and a good bath room. Wifi works very good. Excellent breakast end...

Positives: On the beach. Friendly staff. Generous breakfast buffet. Centrally located. Free internet. 24 hour front desk. Negatives: Cold room no heat. Not warm enough duvets given room temperature. Bed crack (twin beds together - European thing) Short of towels. No face towels. Towels small and stained.

This is the third time we live in this hotel. The hotel is situated at the beach, and taking the pathway along the beach, brings you to the harbour and citycentre in between 5-10 min. Convenient rooms with sea view, and a little balcony. Very comfortable beds. Nice and clean all over. Good service and very nice breakfast.

The best hotel in Eckernförde. Located close to the beach and downtown, and in summer time this area is great for beach life. The hotel has a very good breakfast, good staff, a nice and cosy bar but rooms are a bit old. Parking outide or in basement. Have stayed here many times and always come back. Recommended to everyone...

I have been in this hotel for a business week. Kind of basic but big rooms, clean and timeless decoration. Friendly staff. Good location just in front of the beach. Gi can imagine that in the summer it is a very nice place to be. Good breakfast. Good price. Quality vs price it is a good deal!

It was a one night standing in Eckernförde, with dinner and breakfest. Hotel was really nice and friendly personal. Room was good, and nice located near the beach. Hotel was good for Business trip. Just the dinner "buffet" was to expensive for what was served and the breakfest was okay but not more. And the bottom line, it's okay to...

Nice hotel. Good location not far for centrum of this small village, and very close to the beach. We had a nice room with a view to the sea. Only disappointing thing was that we had to ask for the extra bed we had booked, three times before it was in place.

This hotel was a huge disappointment because it should not have a four star rating. These are some of the reasons why: The red brick building (the hotel) is cold looking, uninviting and looks a pre-war hospital. The room decor is cheap and outdated with a very hard and uncomfortable bed, and small tv (with limited channels). The only bathroom...

compared with other hotels this one is too expensive , although the location is good in the stadtpark directly at the beach. Rooms are not impressive. The lunch was also expensive and not very tasty . The best feature is the parking , the place is huge, most of the hotel in Eckernfoerde have no parking nearby.

Thank Uwe Jens P

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Stadthotel, Eckernforde, a breakfast only establishment. The hotel is directly on the beach and looks over the beautiful Eckernforde Bay which leads out to the Baltic Sea commanding panoramic views. Although set in a quiet location the main line station is only 500 mtrs away and the town itself is a paradise of cobbled streets and twisty lanes with a weekly general market and monthly fish market on the 1st Sunday of every month. If you decide to visit the famous Kiel canal which connects the North and the Baltic Seas stop off at Laboe and see a W.W.2 U-Boat, the U 995 or take a boat trip to the canal. You can start the day with a romantic beach sunrise then take a car or bike ride to the many historical towns and villages within striking distance or maybe just take a long walk along the picturesque coastline or- maybe just sit. If you're a golfer the Altenhof golf club is at your disposal. It's a tricky little course with devious bunkers and you would have to travel some to find a better round. Every year in late June-early July the Schleswig- Holstein classic music festival is held here. Glynbourne in Germany. In the Baltic seaside town of Damp (about 20 km to the north of Eckernforde), there is a well known health centre, as this region is a spa area, so don't be put off by the name. ... more   less

“A beach view....obviously! Not so obvious is the lay out of the hotel....it is almost horse-shoe shape and, previously, we have stayed in the middle part of that 'horse-shoe'...I recommend you try for that area as it DOES offer the best, uninterrupted, view of the sea!”
FRANCES39A, 26 Jul 2013 | Read review
“I had a room at the front overlooking the car park. I would think the ones at the back may suit better as an early delivery of some goods for the restaurant seemed to come under my window along the stone path to reception and it rattled very loudly... Rooms have different prices I think according to their location. This was the top grade and may have been larger than others.”
