What a spectacular place to rest & use as a temporary 'home base' to explore the Punakaiki coastline from! Truman Track is a 'must do' while visiting here & is an easily accessible way to experience the delightful beach just below the venue. A wide range of prices offers comfortable accommodation options for the budget conscious to low levels of...

Really enjoyed my one day and night at the Te Nikau retreat. The place is seperated into a number of self contained houses scattered very privately throughout the rainforest. Not like any place I had stayed before. It is a short walk from a beach to chill out and enjoy the sunset (no swimming, though). And as a bonus, all...

This was our 3rd accommodation during our 2 month NZ road trip. We stayed for 3 nights. Te Nikau is quite a unique place and your experience depends on which unit you pick. Mamaku Cottage is a self contained unit located the closest to the main road and I would describe it somewhere between a backpacker's unit and a motel....

We stayed for 3 days in the Te Reru lodge and found the accomodation clean and comfortable (With an ensuite). It is however shared accomodation and has more of a backpacker feel to it. Don't be discouraged by this as the kids loved it! It was great to interact with people and the fresh muffins and bread made in the...

We stayed in a private bungalow, right off the Truman Track (which is a must do! 15 min hike from road to beach). Very basic, but had all the necessary kitchen supplies and clean bathroom. There are maybe 5-10 bungalows, all spread out in the jungle. Feels very secluded although not far from road/beach. Lots of wildlife and birds to...

4 of us stayed in Kowhai Cottage. It is a cabin wiht basic facilities in a beautiful bush setting. We had a good size verandah. Unfortunately, it was too cold to enjoy it. I wonder how often is it warm enough to be sitting outside. The kitchenette was quite basic. You wouldn't want to do any cooking there. It served...

Brace yourself. This is not a hotel in the city center. It is a community in the middle of the forest. The laundry is public and not free. There is a shop in the kitchen that is almost cheaper than the best supermarket. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean. The only electrical thing in the rooms is a...

The place is easy to find with GPS, close to Truman Track and Punakaiki; a stay that was one of the highlights of our New Zealand holiday. There's quite a lot to do in the surrounding area, something for everyone. Casey our intrepid host upgraded us to a chalet from the Stargazer – a basic hut with a window in...

Such an unusual place! Get the coach to drop you off at Truman track, and then it's a 5 minute walk to reception. The accommodation is made up of several self- contained huts. The backpackers accommodation is shared with two other double rooms (which were empty when I stayed), with a kitchen, huge living area and record player, so fantastic...
