if you want a spectacular view of an awesome beach this is the place - every room has a veiw - pancake rock is an easy walk - the restaurant is the best within miles. Rooms are large enough for a family

Punakaiki Resort was a most enjoyable place to stay with exquisite seaview rooms and easy access to the amazing walk along the coastal phenomenon of the Pancake Rocks. The accommodation was good and our dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent. Beautifully sized bedrooms and clean bathrooms, and the service was friendly and efficient.

Lovely bush clad surroundings and nice clean room with view of roaring west cost beach. Hotel is well positioned and hides in the native NZ bush. Restaurant a bit pricey, but the food was excellent. Would recommend this place to anyone

We enjoyed our short visit here. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. We had a small patio to where we could sit and view the ocean. Breakfast very good with a large selection of items. Coffee was delicious!

Decent view, not bad room size for a 2-3 star place but falls short in a number of ways. There is no air conditioning and our room had no screens on the windows to keep out sand flies if you wanted to open them. You get Wifi but it is capped at 1gb and works slowly and intermittently. Our door...

I have to agree with many of the reviewers who said that it is over priced. The location is very pretty, but parking in front of the upper rooms is virtually impossible. The room I was given did not have any insect screens. When I called to inquire, I was told that they had ordered them but they had not...

We had a room on the other side of the highway in the eco section. The views were great of the ocean and the surrounding mountains. You are very close to the local sites and walking trials. I highly recommend the eco rooms. They have some of the best views.

The room was close to 90 degrees F when we checked in, there is no air conditioning. There were flies zooming around the room, there were holes in the screens. There was one small table fan. We asked for an additional fan, they didn't have any. We asked to talk to the manager, we were told there was no manager...

Comfortable on the best private beach (National park), dark night skies for star gazing. Dark pebble beach, nice sunsets. Bar and restaurant, captured audience, but good meals. Easy great stop to enjoy west coast ocean views.

Loved the sea view. Be ware that upper level rooms back onto highway 6 and you will hear road noise. Food was big disappointment. We were looking forward to dinner and understood that guests had priority. But then we were informed that there were two big groups with reservations (likely the two big tour buses parked in the lot) and...
