While reading other reviews I agree this hotel needs a face lift......but the view is amazing, we built a lovely fire on the beach for star gazing and it is a peaceful resort. Restaurant food is adequate and staff is friendly. Just miles away from the Pancake Rocks.

This hotel has beautiful location for sure but I stayed in a downstairs unit and the people upstairs walked around until late at night and then early this morning (from 5am) and I can hear every footstep. Wifi is very poor and I would prefer not to stay here if passing through next time. If you have to stay here...

The location is fabulous - right on the beach. However - this hotel is overdue a significant makeover. Our room was tired, one curtain had several hooks missing and the whole thing needed refurbishing - as did the public rooms. The resort seemed to be mainly used by coach tours who were there for a single night - they block...

Very nice resort, a 5 min uphill walk to pancake rocks. You can drive ur car or the intercity shuttle bus drops you right outside the resort Sea facing views from the balcony of your room give a thrill due to fierce tasman sea. Walk to the beach in a minute. Clean room with basic amneties. Wifi available in the...

Great location on the wonderful West Coast. Lodge looks the part and I suspect experience varies by room. Mine was on the other side of the road and was ground floor and had niggling maintenance issues - try for closer to the resort. Food was good but not memorable. Experience tainted by bus loads of other visitors which tested capacity.

The location was great, the room however, not so great. This was one of the more expensive resorts we stayed at on our trip, and one of the worst experiences. As a disclaimer- we came last minute with no prior reservation, so maybe we got the worst room at the whole resort. Cons- Bugs in the room, the beds were...

We stayed in a room in the block just up a few steps next to the main dining room and bar areas. Room had twin beds and a lovely view over the ocean ( but we didn't have a balcony whereas the rest of the rooms in this row had ) Room was okay - the large window overlooking the...

I really wish TA had more scales to choose from as this hotel is a good, not an average (3) but it's "tiredness" doesn't make it a very good (4). The location is magnificent and undoubtedly the best lodging in Punakaiki. It's built seamlessly from the beach area into the hillside. Reception and garden and sea view rooms are directly...

Lovely, clean, large and comfortable sea view room. Very close to pancake rocks... About a 10 minute walk. Lovely touch with the complimentary champagne. Limited amenities near by, so bring plenty of snacks and water. There is a restaurant on site that serves breakfast and dinner.

We were very disappointed in our one night at the Punakaiki Resort. We stayed in an Eco Unit across the road and were charged $299 per night for a tired room which had broken tiles in the bathroom and a leaking shower. They have no interest in NZ tourists, it's all about overseas tour buses coming through. Would not recommend.
