Deya was our Air BnB host. We never met her, but the apartment was spotless, nicely eqiupped, and the pictures on the site were an accurate representation of the view. The location is on a strip of hotels. There is a restaurant (Queen G's) and a bar at the pool.

We walked over to the pool for a swim and a drink at the bar bar a few times and enjoyed a Red Stripe beer and the company of Bartender Renee. She is lovely; the perfect combination of friendly but not intrusive, and the beers were inexpensive ($3.00) US. Likewise, the restaurant food was good, and we were very happy to have it a short walk from our condo, but it was made better by the attention of Gladys, Debra, and Shayna. We enjoyed sampling traditional Jamaican dishes. I liked the Jerk Chicken, the Goat Curry, and and Ox tail dish. They came with rice and beans and a salad. They also offer pizza, spaghetti, and burgers. We liked the appetizers we tried--spring rolls and coconut shrimp. You can carry out or dine in. There is one cook. Sometimes there are multiple order ahead of you, and there is a short wait. There is nothing else within walking distance, so Queen G's is the place to go if you do not have wheels.

Some of the areas on the grounds are in need of TLC. There aare tennis courts, but there is one net on the two courts, and it looks a bit sad.

The beach is nice. If you are coming to snorkel, it's not a good choice for that, but it is a beautiful white sand beach.

If you plan to do some cooking, I recommend stopping on the way from the airport. There is not a grocery within walking distance. Food in Jamaica is expensive.

Our suite was beautiful, but the outside areas are in dire need of repair. The pool is nice but needs to be maintained. It was only cleaned once in a span of 3 weeks that we were there. Renee at the outside bar was very helpful, Bailey and Darlene at the store on site were very good to us, and Queen G’s Restaurant was amazing!
If you’re looking for a dependable taxi, there are signs up at the property for Terrance James Tours. I highly recommend him. He had the best rates and was very dependable! We also used Lewis Cabs(Ricardo) and he was very good too. Very considerate and looked after us well.

The Airbnb was very nice. It was chic and modern and had everything you could possibly ask for. Hat's off to the owner. The area around it was a bit run down and nothing to do there. There was only one very small restaurant. The location was near the beachfront, but the beach wasn't being taken care of. The location was a bit away from everything, though.

Worst place ever. I have pictures to show. When we arrived, I said this was not what the pictures looked like. The staff said the pool does not work, but you can get drinks from the bar. I was afraid to sit on the bed. I asked her to show me how to work the air conditioner. She said it was out of order. I said I couldn't stay here. I need a refund. She said she does have another unit. And good luck in getting a refund. When I sent my request. They said I was not eligible for a refund. Stay away.

This is a $40 night type place in the US. Looks like it was built int he 60s or 70s, but never refurbished. THe buildings look painted but some of the units have unstable balconies, outdoor railings are fair. If you book, you are booking someone's condo. These are not rich people, not the poorest. You don't know what you are getting as there are no photos. Lots of people live in the place except peak season. It is closest to the Hilton Rose Hall hotel. Was able to get a pick up a this property for a tour. THere is an onsite restaurant with Jamaican food. THey don't have everything on the menu. There is access to a paved strip along the beach. Didn't see anyone in the water. There were a few people from my flight at this property

Beautiful condos with some of the most amazing views!! The staff was friendly and the grounds were beautiful. It’s obvious that the property has seen better days but the vintage charm and beautiful views make up for it. All units are different but the property itself was perfect for our ten day stay full of adventure!

This is the most run down, unloved property. Unsafe, dilapidated, dirty, falling apart. Please don’t stay here. Save yourself the misery. The apt we stayed in was ok. Clean enough except for the flies and ants but when you pull up to this property you will regret booking here. I booked through someone named Nianna. She was responsive but deceitful. Please don’t believe the pictures or the reviews. LIESSSS. If I can post pictures, I can say less

♦LOCATION
The location is in Rose Hall as stated. Close to Palmyra, the Hilton and past half Moon. That means its along the coast line going up to Falmouth. This is a good 15 minutes drive to get into town. This also means you will need a car or taxi to go back and forth. It is a long walk from the room to the highway to flag a taxi. I'd recommend renting a car or just arranging for a local taxi to come and get you at the gate.

LOCATION RATING: 2 Stars

♦MANAGEMENT
Very sweet, well meaning but chaotic and disorganized bunch. There is a communication gap and sense of anxiety and frantic nature to the main contact locally. She is quite busy and with a name to rhyme. I had a relatively smooth booking and checkin despite a bit of nervousness on my part but what felt hectic was the fact that the apartment didn't feel ready. Towels etc. They did wait for my flight to checkin but as is expected for a vacation rental as I've rented villas before. Bottom line is you will be parceled up, hustled to the unit and better hope you don't need anything while you are there. Very cold, unattentive but mostly responsive if you make the first call about any issues.

ISSUE: I didn't get proper attention when an AC broke. They asked me to call the repairman myself! On my vacation? I think not.. I wasn't about to wait around for the AC man :-) so I just dealt with it. Very disappointing and unprofessional. I would expect that someone within the management group would come and wait for the guy and ensure it was fixed on-time. Instead they asked me to wait or leave the key for some stranger to come. No hought to my safety or my belongings. Not comforting.

MANAGEMENT RATING: 1 Stars

♦AMENITIES
This one is easy... there aren't any amenities. I had to buy my own towel and dishes. Very disappointed with this. No way and no where to dry clothes discreetly. You say I should hang my undies outside the balcony? Um....

No Housekeeping at all.
Haul your own garbage out
Wash your own towels/etc - No refresh of towels and barely any provided. What is provided was literally falling apart and unusuable except to mop the floors.

AMENITIES RATING: 0 Stars

♦SEA CASTLES GROUNDS ETC
Ehn..... I only saw the parking lot. I didn't see the beach and I didn't swim in the pool or anything else. There is a bar I didn't go to but was quite loud and busy with party after party. Luckily I sleep okay so never bothered me. It was Christmas and new years so that was probably why.

The grounds are mostly unkempt and overrun with stray hungry cats. Peeling paint.
The location is so quiet and serene
The security are friendly and remember the guests. No third degree to get in.
PRIVATE! PRIVATE! PRIVATE!!

SEACASTLES RATING: 4 Stars (Mostly because its peaceful, would be better if it was actually pretty too)

♦UNIT/SUITE
The suite I was in was B-10 I think. Ground floor and newly renovated in the B block.
Good location, close to the parking lot.
One bedroom. 2 AC.
Overall It felt "rough" as in it was relatively neat but wires hanging around, paint peeling, cheap shower curtains, cheap plates, broken air conditioner/
The closets felt painted but like I would never use them. The furniture was excellent as in not too cheap although they were vinyl!

EWW FACTOR: Found two cockroaches in the suite. one dead and one alive. Screamed so hard. Was my first day. I almost checked out.

Other than that no major issues, just felt a bit rough and unfinished. I'd suggest they repaint and properly sand the walls and ceilings. And work on the living room.. no plastic furniture.

♦♦OVERALL♦♦
It was alright, the best part about it was it was hassle free, private and even being ignored by management added to its charm. It felt like my own apartment and that was lovely. I just wish it was a bit cleaner, more functional and more housekeeping.

Would I recommend it? Yea sure... as long as you are familiar with the island, can get around, can cook/clean/wash during your stay and don't mind a bit of a rough location.

My wife and I have just returned from a two-week stay at the Sea Castles Beach Condo (formerly Sea Castles Resort). This was our first trip to Jamaica and the first time that we have travelled the Vacation Rental route (no cooks or maids). Sea Castles is located about fifteen minutes east of Montego Bay along the coast. It was built twenty years ago as a hotel/condo resort concept but encountered some problems and is now just a condo community.
We booked our condo with Debra Fraser via Trip Advisor, whom I can’t say enough good things about. Debra took care of getting us set-up and running and was always a phone call away (she supplied the phone). She met us at the airport and took us to a grocery store to get some initial supplies before delivering us to our rental. We met Karen there (part of Deb’s team along with Mitzie), with our two week lease and gave her our security deposit (US$300 cash, that you get back the day you leave). Sea Castles may be in need of a coat of paint on the outside but the inside of our apartment was more than I expected. It was a ground floor one-bedroom and had been just recently renovated. It had beautiful tile floors and a galley kitchen (stove/oven/microwave/ toaster/fridge) with a breakfast bar for eating at. The patio was screened and looked out onto the Caribbean Sea; we spent the majority of our time out on the patio.
There is a bar at the pool that opens all week at 11am and a small restaurant/bar on the beach open Fri-Sun. The local’s refer to it as the ‘fish place on the beach’ and is run by Mr. Rose who cooks an excellent curried shrimp (Spicy) and sensational jerked ribs. The beach is small and untended and there is no seating unless the restaurant is open, but it is the most incredible sand I have ever walked on. Since it is secluded and protected by reef there is very little seaweed and the sand is clean and white, there was no debris to navigate through along the shore line. It was truly pristine.
The only real downfall to Sea Castles is its location relative to amenities like restaurants and shopping. Nothing is close enough to walk to, so you need to use a cab to go anywhere. If you don’t mind sharing a cab it costs only JDS$200 or two bucks to get to the ‘Whitter’ mall and back and JDS$300 return to the Hip Strip. If you are finicky about sharing a cab with strangers, then the round trip will cost you JDS$3000 or $30US for door-to-door service. That can make forgetting to buy milk for coffee costly. The ‘Jamaican cab’ system is easy to use, you simply go to the side of the road, which is the main route to MoBay, and when a cab passes they honk their horn and you put up your hand indicating the number of passenger with your fingers. If they have room they stop and if not they keep going. There are tons of taxis on this route so I never waited more than a few minutes to get a ride, so no problem Mon.
We loved our first trip to Jamaica and are looking forward to future ones. Sea Castles for us offered a very affordable way to stay for two weeks and Debra and her team made us feel welcome and were available if we needed them, which is not always the case with vacation rentals. If you are interested in more detail about Sea Castles, I have written about it in my blog, http://imjustsaying.domitall.com, feel free to check it out.
