Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach garners mixed feedback from its guests. While the hotel's location is often commended for its convenient access to local attractions and a sense of seclusion, some travelers have voiced concerns over room conditions, including mold and dated decor. The range of amenities generally receives positive remarks, though suggestions for improvements are noted.
The atmosphere and service evoke contrasting opinions, with experiences of vibrant activities and friendliness marred by instances of poor service and safety issues. Although cleanliness is a strong point, the value proposition is questioned due to hidden costs and underwhelming services.

The purpose of the trip was to visit my parents graves in Kingston. I traveled with 9 other family members and we chose all-inclusive rather than renting an expensive villa. The hotel lobby smells lovely and the hotel was immaculate with staff cleaning the common areas and grounds daily - I didn't see any rubbish during the 10 days that we stayed. The pool was great and there is also access to the beach, but beware of beach sellers selling cheap tat! (my sister and neice got caught out in the first day, but I managed to escape!) We ate mostly at Little Rivers buffet restaurant, which served authentic and delicious Jamaican food - although the fried plantain was a disappointment, as it was not ripe enough to be cooked, imo. We also ate at Olivettis (Italian), Samurai (Japanese) and Uncle Tony's (BBQ-style) - I enjoyed all of my meals. All the staff were pleasant and approachable and the bars served name-brand alcohol, not local stuff. The hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Montego Bay. The only downside is that there is no room service - I was unwell one day, so missed dinner and couldn't get any food delivered to the room, so my sister had to bring me something from the buffet. There are no tea-making facilities in the rooms, and being from the UK, we generally can't function without a daily cuppa! It's for these two reasons that I haven't given the hotel 5 stars.

Excellent Resort for family and couples Review of Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Pending review My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Iberostar Beach Resort and was not disappointed at all. This was our 3rd visit to this resort.
This resort has everything at your fingertips. It is easily accessible from all levels. The management and staff is top notch and always accommodating and accessible to your needs. Special thank you to Christal Gichie and Celia Ferran for their great hospitality and kindness. My husband and I were celebrating both our birthdays, and these ladies made it extra special for us.
Thanks to the wonderful team, the chefs, the restaurant staff, the cooks, the maids, the gardeners, entertainment team, bartenders, and everyone else for their tremendous efforts and kindness to all their guest. The interaction with everyone is amazing.
Rooms and entire surroundings of this hotel are spotlessly clean. As you walk into the lobby, there is such a welcoming atmosphere and a wonderful fresh smell of lavender.
The food and drinks were topnotch. Every day, there is a cooking show by the poolside as well as a bar allowing guest to make and sample their own cocktail. You can find anything in the restaurants to eat. And if you don't you can ask if there is an alternative.. There are all kinds of fresh fruits and juices at breakfast, and at dinner, there is such a variety to offer.
There is a restaurant on the beach serving jerk chicken from 12 pm to 5 pm daily. There is no need to go to the restaurant for lunch. The chicken is extremely delicious, and the beef and chicken patties , dumplings , corn bread, and salads are all so tasteful. There are also burgers and hot dogs on the grill.
The resort has really transformed from the last 3 years we were there. Celia has done a superb job making the hotel a gem.
We will definitely return to this hotel again. If you are looking for a hotel with great vibes, this is the place to be. It's very family oriented and also very good for couples.
Thanks, everyone, for your kind hospitality, and keep up the great job

Went for a family and friends vacation to celebrate our daughters upcoming graduation. There were 12 of us in total and we had no issues getting in for meals or sitting together on the beach or at the pool with minimal planning. There was a breeze on the beach everyday and plenty of shade to be found. The facility was clean but a little dated. ToniAnn served us on the beach and at the pool on numerous days and she was excellent, attentive had our drink orders down and kept us in water on the hot days. Couple notes bring a water container (hotel provides glass ones) they have no water bottles on site but the refill stations are sanitary and the water was fine we drank it all week. Lots of marijuana on the beach a consideration if you are bothered by the smell. Also very few outlets in the room if your family needs lots of charging bring a power strip. Nice large clean beach towels everyday, resort is a good location from the airport 30 minutes max but longer travel to attractions in Ocho Rios 1.5 hours. The Hibachi restaurant was excellent we had Prynce (Pryce) as our chef, he made a great meal and was very entertaining. Big negative the fire alarms went off on two separate nights and one night was for several hours, if you are traveling with small children I would take this into consideration since I have noticed others have noted this so it may be an ongoing issue. We felt safe during our stay including our teen girls and our Gram who was along. We are likely to be back Jamaica was beautiful and we had a great trip!

It was our first trip to Jamaica, and we loved it. Yeah, when things are good, one doesn't rush to post a review...
Our room was large and functional. No complaints there. We liked the colonial look and the layout of the hotel.
The food was quite good. The main restaurant didn't run out of anything, including cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, and they had decent sparkling wine and regular wine. Thumbs up!
The beach was OK, but the sea... not so much. Plenty of rocks, boulders and bottom vegetation, which the wife hates, so we didn't swim as much as we usually do when we go south. The noise on the beach can be problematic, depending where you are. The spot we preferred was within the range of the beach DJ and the music from the pool area. Quite a cacophony at times. The smell of ganja was quite predominant on the beach, and sometime the pressure from the pot peddlers got a bit uncomfortable.
The lobby bar is the best, and they have pretty much everything, including top shelf drinks that you need to pay for. Not a problem, because there was plenty for us on the lower shelves. There's also live music in the lobby, and it was quite enjoyable to sip on a cocktail there before supper.
The beach bar is mostly meh. Weirdly enough, the Jamaican rum wasn't readily available there, even the regular Signature Appleton Estate. They were pushing some sort of spiced Mexican rum, which might be OK in sugary mixed drinks but off-putting on the rocks or with cola. However, the beach buffet was great, and we sometimes skipped lunch at the main restaurant in favour of the jerk on the beach.
The resort shares a couple of tennis courts with the neighbouring hotel. The courts are immaculate, but we hadn't brought the racquets with us (in summer time it's too hot and muggy to play, even early in the morning). They have a nice clubhouse and even a pro on site.
It rained every day, like clockwork, but we didn't mind. We would go to the beach early in the morning, leave for the duration of the rain, around lunch time, and return later in the afternoon.
A few words about the Montego Bay airport, which has an excellent layout for the local businesses. It makes it really difficult for tourists, including us, to resist the temptation to buy a Bob Marley T-shirt, a souvenir or a bottle of nice Jamaican rum.
Despite the minor shortcomings, we had a lovely stay an enjoyed Jamaica a lot. We'd like to go back some day, but maybe to a resort with better beach and swimming conditions.

Just returned home from this hotel and loved the experience. I have to mention that other than not receiving welcome drinks after a 9 hour flight and the spa costings, the rest of our stay was good. The hotel is only 25 minutes from the airport, rooms are cleaned daily, there’s a variety of food at the buffet and entertainment both day and night time are good. There’s aqua fitness, Zumba, volleyball etc.. Please download the app, I found this very useful. I tried the night club which is located at the suites, usually kicks off at 11pm.. I actually loved it. We also tried the Japanese restaurant which you have to book, I must admit this was a top experience, the food is prepared in your presence whilst the chef keeps you entertained. We also ventured out, went to the Bob Marley museum in Kingston which I highly recommend. It’s approximately 2.5 hours drive. We used outa road for all transport and excursions, please see card on photos attached. He is very reliable, knows his way around and costings are fair compared to transport provided by the hotel and others. We also visited 9 mile where Bob Marley was born and buried. This tour was very interesting and emotional at the same time. There’s a shop for you to buy souvenirs and other interesting stuff 😊. On the way back from Kingston we made a stop over at the Dunns river in Ochoa Rios. This closes at 4pm so we did not get to spend much time but was a brilliant experience. We also visited glistening luminous lagoon, also another brilliant experience but was too scared to swim in the dark.. others did and loved it. Going back to the spa costs, we visited Usain Bolt’s restaurant called tracks and records in Mobay, food was lovely and charges were average, and next to the restaurant is Zurich Beauty and Spa. They were able to fit us in without a booking so I got a Swedish massage for half the price the hotel was charging and was very happy with the outcome. I must say I did not expect to pay for the use of Sauna and steam room at the hotel as it’s free in most hotels I have visited. Mosquitos are a nightmare. Despite wearing jungle formula and bands, I was covered with bites. Overall.. fun holiday, would have loved to do other excursions but time was limited.

Checking was very smooth and the front desk staff was awesome. The elevators make a weird banging noise and drops. The rooms are in need of renovation, the sink and shower was clogged. There was no body wash in the bathroom and the floors were dusty. The food was ok but dinner at the smoke house was HORRIBLE. The food cold and service was EXTREMELY slow. There is no bottle water, bring your refillable cups because the resort is very echo friendly. Five stars goes to Jaleesa our concierge, Dean, Roshan and Garth the bartenders in the lobby bar and Yakiesha our servers at the beachside dinner. Iberostar if you want to promote your membership package do better.

It is great to hear that you had a smooth check-in process and found our front desk staff to be exceptional. Furthermore, we appreciate your words of praise for our dedicated team. However, your constructive observations have been noted. Rest assured, we will look into these aspects and forward them to the relevant departments for their serious consideration. We stayed in a junior suite ocean front and our first impression was negative. We had checked in online to avoid any delays on arrival but still had to check in again. The room we had selected was not available as it had been double booked. The front desk person reluctantly gave us a perk to compensate us: a Star Prestige bracelet that allowed us to use the cabanas on the beach. Our room was very nice and spacious but had no extra outlets to charge phones or tablets. The toilet was inadequate as it had to be flushed multiple times, the TV did not work: at times it would not turn on, at other times we could not turn it off other than by unplugging it. The hotel tried to fix the issue which they seemed to know about, but unsuccessfully. The A/C is pre-set and the room cannot be made colder than 19.5C. The ice machine on our floor was out of the order the whole week. The restaurants are not a la carte, it's a preset menu. The staff is very inconsistent. Some are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, but many appear to not enjoy their work, especially at breakfast where getting coffee seems to be a big ask. The beach is pretty but the water is very weedy right from the shore, except in the area in front of the cabanas. The staff at the cabanas is a lot friendlier and more professional than elsewhere at the resort as they are serving Star Prestige members. We were also ignored a few times at the bar where bartenders served people who flashed cash first. The beach area in front of our suites was very noisy almost every night until 11pm. The pool suffers from the same problems as many chains: people "reserve" chairs with their towels and then don't use them until later in the day, the music starts at 11am and is very loud, the water looks slimy at the end of the day. They only have 2 choices of wine everywhere on the resort: 1 type of white and 1 type of red, and both are cheap wines you would never buy. The mixed drinks have almost no alcohol so we would order "doubles" to have a chance at tasting the alcohol at all. Pros: our cleaning lady was excellent, the internet works perfectly even on the beach, the water pressure/temperature was excellent in the shower, and the buffet has great food with a lot of healthy choices, lots of variety, even vegan.

I stayed at this resort in early May 2024 for 5 nights and had a great time. The food was great, the staff were amazing and always friendly. Water bottle filling stations on every floor was very convenient, room was always clean and well stocked. The entertainment staff was incredible - Finez, Skinny, Tiny, Sparkles, Zugu, they made sure everyone was enjoying themselves and having fun. Roshane (I believe) at the lobby bar was another standout, although all of the bartenders were amazing!
I was worried about the beach when reading reviews but the water was incredible! i was in it all day and never saw a jellyfish, yes there are a lot of seaweed spots but also tons of open space to swim all day and enjoy. Yes like others said there are a lot of locals on the beach selling souvenirs, i bought from a few but to others i just stood my ground and told them no thank you and they would leave me alone. they are all friendly enough and i never once felt unsafe. keep in mind a lot of these locals have lost access to many of their beaches due to private resorts which is quite sad, yes we pay to be on this resort but we are still guests on their land at the end of the day.
If you're looking for a party vibe i would suggest looking at some of the clubs off resort as this resort can be on the quieter side, but my friend and i made our own fun and always had a blast on the resort ourselves. If you chat with any of the local workers they will tell you about the tourist friendly clubs off resort and even offer to come with you! again, i felt more than safe my entire time on and off the resort.
i would recommend this resort to anyone and hope to visit again soon !

Friendly and nice staff. Beautiful property and rooms, however, run the shower head before you take a shower.. a bunch of some sort build up and initial water comes out yellow. And be sure to check your bags before you pick… we almost came home with an uninvited roach in our back pack, and our friends saw at least 2 by their door. If you have little kids, make sure you bring some kind of oversized bottle to get milk from the buffet for their nighttime bottle, the small store doesn’t sell any. Do not plan on coming back from the club next door @1:30 looking for food! Cause there is nothing! Steakhouse seems to run out of steak. Italian restaurant I was told closes for the weekend -possibly the Japanese another night as well. Jamaican on the beach is AMAZING. Pool was cold, and always had a yucky foam like film every evening. Photographer on premises take nice pic.. but be prepared $15 each - for digital photo! NOT a physical one! Which a a bit pricey.

This is an all-inclusive resort in convenient distance from Montego Bay. Located next to the beach. We had to change our travel plans and moved to this place due to an incoming hurricane. Wouldn’t have picked it otherwise. The place is listed as a five star resort, which doesn’t match the experience. It’s more like 3.5. Rooms feel dated and the level of service varies a lot dependent on which person it is. The place doesn’t feel exquisite but more for the masses. Everywhere there is (often) loud music and terrible acoustics in the indoor common areas. Plenty of food options but was not what we had expected considering the 5 stars. The ‘Italian’ serves pasta and pizza etc, but far from the quality/taste level you would meet anywhere in Italy. The ‘Japanese’ serves a few pieces of sushi with the main entree being fried rice with fried meat/shrimp served ‘teppanyaki’ style by a showman who sings and play with the kitchen tools. Cringe and not really Japanese food. The place may appeal to travellers who like lot’s of entertainment and music everywhere and does not care so much about fine dining and nice wine. It appeared most guests enjoyed themselves, but it wasn’t a place for us.

There are a few tours within 1 hr but the others are about 30 more minutes drive each way . I have done most of the excursions in Jamaica been coming there for 30+ yrs . You can look for topchoicejamaicatours there are the ones i use for everything private . They can customize anything and they get all my clients yearly . You should not have any issues . I would recommend Rasta Safari Dune Buggy its about 50 minutes . Maybe even rafting on the bamboo or Luminous Lagoon those are within the limit. They offer a round town tour called Montego bay hilite its a drive around tour history and stops and so on . The airport is easy to book just go on the airport transfer page and look for rosehall .
There are more places to choose from in the Rose Hall area.
